These pics are out of order but I’m done fighting it so it is what it is—do you think I’ll ever learn to not blog late Friday night??? Doubtful. My plan was defiiitely to do it earlier but…plans…ha!
This pic is from Saturday night! We were out late working on the building and the kids just wanted to play hide’s seek…but they ended up having a blast with shadow puppets waiting for us.
Working on the building.
Saturday morning soccer—we got soaked! It was pretty miserable (Sethy with the goal kick—it’s a U8 thing)

And he decided he didn’t like how crooked this post was…so he unbolted it and we tried to move it with the skid steer…I don’t know if it worked or not! Then Cann had to run the excavator so he would mess with things from the bucket. So…normal for us. I think these pics were Monday-it was a prof development day so the kids didn’t have school.

Addi and I got to work Tuesday once everyone else was gone. I needed to mop my floor but once we got things moved I figured we might as well scrub the walls too.  And once it was cleaned up—that seemed like a good time to try out a different table situation, I’ve been wanting to go with a long skinny and a bench for a long time so this is just a folding table (and bench) but I think I like it-like how it fits-

When we really go for it I think we’ll probably go for 2 benches but whatever it was a start, a little something I’ve wanted to adjust for a while!
Oh and we basically took over the dentist office Tuesday morning. First time for Add!
Cann strained his calf at Young men’s…so thing he’s got Colt to help him rub it out!
We’ve been jumping! I think a ton! These two think not quite enough.

And  today…I’m so excited to finally get this picture!!!
Best news on the building! He hired an Amish guy to help him for the day! Best money he’s spent on it so far!!! They got a ton done! I tried to help a little too just so they could get more done while we were paying him. I was kindof the helper grabbing boards and what not.  (So can I blame that on why I didn’t blog?) I think so!) but this guy was worth every penny just to have his brain! He’s done it! Isaac tried to bounce things off me-useless! But he can bounce things off Floyd and he tell him yes you can do that or no usually you’d do this instead and this is why…lifesaver! So much more efficient! So much less of me wanting to rip my hair out.
I’m sold on paying for help…I hope Isaac is too. And Floyd is a super nice guy to chat with too.
Anyway power naps were required but we did hit both the Truman volleyball and HS football games tonight. Seth found himself a little good luck seat at volleyball. And by time we got to football Kirksville was running away with it. So it was a good fun busy night.
And a productive day-couldn’t ask for much better than that!

We’re back to soccer Saturdays! I didn’t get a picture of Tan but maybe tomorrow—unless we get rained out…which I might be fine with…Seth saw the pic of him and said “it looks like I’m tripping over the ball”

Oh…I thought he was just controlling it. He is enjoying it though so that’s good.
Sunday they were all piling on the horses. I guess that’s why we have them.

Monday I tried to knock down some of the ginormous weeds and tall grass and then cemetery  with the tractor and Addi tagged along, she  brought the Paw Patrol with her! She did great.

She says some pretty funny things these days. She’s always  giving me the hand signals and saying “keep coming” with the cart at the grocery store. Then she’ll turn her had into the stop signal and say “that’s good” somehow I feel like I’m driving the skid steer 😉
She had a sub and school Tuesday and the sub ended up with the hiccups so Addi told her “you should try hot sauce” 😂 not sure where she got that idea. But the sub made sure to tell me about it and how fun Addi was in class. It seems like there was one other thing I was going to try to remember to write down but I but I’m drawing a blank so I guess that’s a fail! But she’s pretty fun and funny these days. Oh how we love the Addster!
I got this from Colts gate teacher-they have to program a robot to stay in those lines or something. Colt’s been telling me all about it but…maybe if I listened better I could explain it 🙃
Wednesday we got Cann’s braces on. Poor guy-they’re a mouthful! But he’s doing pretty good…I guess. I’m really surprised I didn’t take a picture. After school Isaac did pick up 🎉🎉🎉 (I hate it so bad) & I went with my birthday buddy Salwa (who teaches) and our friend Naomi to McDonalds for a McFlurry. The ice cream was ok but the getting to visit was awesome! When I got home they had bought me flowers (which I didn’t even take a picture of 🤦🏻‍♀️ but that just made these guys want to pick me flowers. So Isaac took them to do it. Seth took some to his teacher too. He’s a sweetheart. And weed flowers -how sweet 😂

Soccer got rained out and Isaac was going to take care of dinner until we decided I’d just make mashed potatoes so Cann could eat. But I’d goofed off with my friends all afternoon and we still had children and youth activities but I was out of time. Things got a little crazy. And our AC until might need the motor (or something) replaced. I don’t know but Isaac gets pretty locked in when he’s in fix it mode trying to figure stuff out. So the crazy night also included him being here-but not here at all, oh well, we survived.
Today we planted a few daffodils…I bought more tulips but I want to decide what I’m going to do the deer before I even put them in the ground.

And look at that concentration!
And today I went to lunch with my friend I minister to then her husband coaches volleyball at Truman so we went to his game. (I think he needs a leader on the court but that’s just my take) they’re hosting a little tournament so tonight Seth and Addi and I went back and watched another game before we went over to the football game.
Late night though!
I might need to reevaluate when I blog cuz it’s dang late again. 😩 and I’m pretty tired!

Until next time!

Ok it’s me against the clock tonight—because it’s late and I’m tired! But when it’s 90° this time of year…we’re lake bound-that’s just a given! And so the blog is getting started a little late. And the house looks like the weekend bomb happened already but we’re just getting started so oh well!

Temple trip Saturday!

On the way home Isaac spotted a deer farm??? He had to stop—I 100% didn’t think it was worth stopping and having Addi wake up…I was also out-voted, obviously.
Also trying to be quick doesn’t lend to me getting to tell the story about being followed from KV clear to Memphis by a highway patrolman. We didn’t get pulled over though-by him-we totally got pulled over in Keokuk! But by some miracle (or temple blessing) we got off with a warning.
I locked the TV upstairs…So much for the wards elective tech fast around here 😏

Monday Cann had football.

We’ll do it different next time Seth was so tired the next morning! These  is pictures make it look like he was too tired to shower and change his clothes, but he just has two of those yellow shirts 🤣
The marigolds we planted came up!!! Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get over there and see if the came up at Rizzy’s too
Colt and I made “service” cookies for YM
A little service project taking down a deck.
Picking Rich’s Apples
They’d done it earlier too and we made an awesome batch of apple pie filling (yum😋)
It’s the time of year for family hide and seek in the dark!! 🎉
And the lake trip!

I had Colt snag a pic of me since I didn’t have one from this year but look how good my water was—amazing!

I thought the reflection was pretty cool. I was able to ski and surf which was lucky because I think I found out what a pulled muscle feels like this week at Tan’s soccer practice. Whoops! Ouch! I am definitely not young anymore! Cann told me I’m always getting hurt-yeah tell me about it.

I’ll have to fix/edit and what not later!
To bed with me!

Friday, September 5, 2025

Alright I’ve been up since 4:00 but you know how it is when your alarm is set early and you wake up 50 times to make sure it’s not going off yet…🙄 my life!  So my watch thinks I’ve been up since 2:41! Yikes!!
But I would do it again.
I mixed up dough last night then made cinnamon rolls for the seminary kids today. And a stupid little sign that said “so glad you decided to ROLL out of bed for seminary today, have a great day” so dumb but I love that kind of thing.
Anyway the week, I don’t know what we did Saturday but I know now the goal was 2 trusses.
Oh wait I remember we did one in the morning then I had a nap and when I got up the kids were playing outside Cannon was over mowing at Rich’s and I just thought Isaac was out working on the building. So I took off to the grocery store. Cannon called me and asked something that was an obvious “go ask your dad” type question so that’s what I said and he said “he’s in Keokuk”… what? But he’s so good (and I think he had a little help from Heaven too he NEVER checks GroupMe  -and  our ward has a ridiculous number of them) but a message popped up and a young family, graduate students, had been to Nauvoo to the temple but then had car trouble, they just sent out an SOS message he saw it then called them and headed to get them and their car with his truck and trailer. Classic Isaac, and I love him for it. And they were so grateful too. But  it did end up getting a little late and very dark on that second truss.
And full disclosure I did run completely out of patience before we were done and all the bugs were attacking the skid steer because it had lights. Yuck. Nasty. Glad it’s over.
We I listened to the BYU game (if you can call it a game  69-0 is a little too lopsided and boring) while we were out there then Cann and I stayed up and watched the first 1/2 of the Utah game. I really do like both teams, I’m so glad they seemed to be good again!
And I didn’t really mean  over…
We did the last truss Monday. And then some bracing.

Tuesday all I really remember is the worst “parent pick up”  disaster yet. I may or may not have swore at a teacher “Why the Hell won’t they just give me my kid?!” Eventually they did but it was a circus, all the while Seth was hanging out with Mrs Feeney loving life-talking about how if he could just go home with her they’d stop and get ice cream 😂😂😂 But truly it set me off, I’ve been fired up about it all week, talking to other parents making sure its not just me. I 100% decided I want to talked to the school board because they have a big issue on how this is changing parents perception of the schools. Pick up has always been a pain but I never used to hate the schools. I’m so sick of having to show my ID to people I know-have known for 7 or 8 years, have coached rec soccer with, to be able to get MY kid back! I don’t even want to give them my kids for 7 hours a day. I literally looked up the Catholic school on Tuesday. Anyway I called today get on the agenda for the school board meeting but they wouldn’t let me unless I’ve talked to all the principals and the superintendent. But the lady could tell I was hot and she ended up putting me right through to the superintendent. I would have liked to have been more prepared. But whatever she was very nice and listened. (Were totally neighbors—but out here that still means she lives about 1.5 miles from us) But she still wanted me to talk to the principals. So anyway I did end up talking to one of them and we had a great conversation—I feel like she was open to treating the parents that they know, like people—that they know!!! Instead channeling their inner TSA agent. 🤯 But anyway that just happened today after school so maybe I will be able to simmer down. 🤞🏻
Anyway this week when Addi and I went up to Countryside this little old man with the cutest twinkle in his eye saw Addi and said “I just love children, and I love to give them a dollar, may I?” I assured him it was ok and she would love it (but I also appreciated that he asked.)  She had a great time picking out treats to use it on, she got a sucker, a candy necklace, and a piece of bubble gum.
Then at school that day it was grandparents and donuts day. Since we don’t have grandparents close I forgot all about it-just thought the parking lot was oddly clear full. But when we got in there they invited me to stay…I know I’m an old mom but…not a grandparent! But we had fun, then I busted it home and tried to get everything I’d planned on doing done but in less time. 🙃it all worked out.

Part of my list was get ready to go to the lake!! It’s getting kind of chilly but these guys were undeterred.
Not the best pic but I loved Seth trying to give instructions.
Poor Tan🤣
Actually he did great! He got right up, oh he even wanted to go first. I was telling Isaac he wins the most improved award for trips to the lake! But then he sat there and worried about if he should go again. If he would be able to get up again. If something “bad” would happen to ruin his lake trip, because something bad always happens. 🤯 Have Mercy! Then he did go again and I’ll be darned…he couldn’t get up. I said “Have ya ever heard of a self fulfilling prophecy?”  It was a nightmare because he was so upset. But it was all in his head. Fortunantly there was plenty of time for lots of turns and he decided  to go a 3rd time. Which I discouraged for my own sanity but whatever he went-anything to prove me wrong I guess. Again, total disaster!! Why was the first go around fine??? We tried and tried and tried and coached or tried to and encouraged the best we could,  finally Cannon who didn’t want to come in the first place, slept the whole time, woke up-watched him once and said “He’s gotta get his feet closer to the edge of the board. He’s not getting any push at all.” Fine try it. I’d been telling him to get them further up on it. (Also trying to “get push” or get the board to turn and push some water) totally worked. Popped right up! Cannon-why were you sleeping??? We needed you!!!!!!

Seth showing us he was willing to go a little bit faster. And Cann snuggled up in the surf board bag.

I think it was pretty smart, I didn’t want to get in! Really the water was about 80 and outside high 70’s but the breeze was what made me a no go!
Colt needed a picture of him reading in his favorite place. ✅✅

And even the cat was getting in on helping Isaac.
Tonight we went to a little date night softball game with some friends from church. It was fun we had a good time but it was so hard to say yes. We’re just anti-social and non committal-quite the combination,  but it’s true.
It was supposed to start at 6:30, at 6:15 Isaac came in and I said perfect it’s time to go, and he said actually I need you to help me with something…so this picture was taken at 6:29

Me and Colt in the man lift, neither one of us knows how to drive it-and neither one of us wants to. But we got it up there. And we made it so softball just late.
I don’t know what else but we figured we better get over to the temple before soccer games start (practices started this week) so we have a busy day planned and I need some sleep—catch ya next week.
