Seth 1 Month

Seth is 1 month already! Crazy!! It goes so fast.
Blogging on Sunday was eh-ok-but I really just like my routine. I think my new plan (this week) is start Friday...and then if it doesn’t really happen scramble Sunday. Maybe we’ll see. It is just the family journal so I do think it’s a good sabboth activity but when I say it like that “scramble” it’s accurate but makes me wonder if it’s really what I should be doing on the Sabboth day. Hmm. Anyway.
I forgot the big excitement last week was Cassie gave us a TV the boys were over the moon excited. It is what we watched the inspirational messages on last week. We put it upstairs and the boys have done pretty good with not nagging to watch it. So...so far so good. I’m really excited about having it for General conference! (And if I’m honest it’s doing a little babysitting for me so I can blog...) and Dad and Seth are having a late Friday night nap.
I think they’re so cute there sleeping like that!

The other thing about Sunday was it turned out to be wasp day (we thought...that was before Thursday) we probably vacuumed up 15 of the little suckers. When I told Isaac I was getting pretty good at catching them with the vacuum in midair he said “that’s probably really not a good thing” ...ya good point, a little too much practice. We know they “hibernated” not really but whatever you call it for wasps, for the winter in the old wood of our house we just don’t know where they are coming in from...if we could figure that out the bug man could maybe help us. I dunno. Thursday I was...whoa...ok this is an infestation!  We vacuumed up at least 4 probably 6 or 7 times and one time Colt went in just to check and we found tons probably 30+ all on the window they were trying to get out but yikes!!! Luckily they are not aggressive-actually they’re pretty sluggish from the winter and neither Colt or Tanner is really scared of them. Cannon however is TERRIFIED! At least he sleeps in the other room. Today Isaac‘s plan was to not vacuum them up and then see if he could open the window and let them out as they started going out hopefully see where they were coming from. (I don’t know how or if it was gonna work...I had my doubts) but we ended up with a cold rainy rainy day so there were no wasps at all coming out anyway...
What else?
Sunday Seth had hair...by Tuesday not so much and it’s getting worse every day! Dang buddy...I mean I think he looks a lot like Isaac ...just so soon with the matching hair line πŸ˜‰

All 5 of my favs...I don’t remember what they were doing but I know I couldn’t resist, I had to grab a pic of him sitting there with all 4 boys then later in the week when we were doing come follow me (I think he was church'n it) but I had all 4 boys around me on the couch I had to snap a selfie. LOVE these boys!
Monday I had Colts last speech meeting!!! Wahoo! (He asked me that night if he was “retiring” from speech πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I said let’s go with “graduating”)  After
school we went to the church and played basketball. Dax came with us and Cannon had a blast playing one on one. Colton and Tanner played pretty good with each other. That evening my guys tried to plant some grass! Dad had lots of help.  It will be nice to not have such a mud pile by the side of the house! Hoping it comes up quick!

Monday’s “fun” also consisted of finding water under the washing machine Ug! Multiple times we’d talked about getting one of those drain bins for it to sit in...there’s definitely some damage to the wood and I still haven’t ordered one! I will though. Ultimately Isaac just ended up fixing the drain hose.
Tuesday was nice and they went Outside!!!
By themselves!
And played and played! Hallelujah!!!
And it’s crazy here but today (Friday) all that grass behind them—totally green! 2 days of sunshine, Magic!
Seth snuggles! We love’m!

A pic from Dr Suess week that I saw on the wall at Colts school.
And...our house was stink’n! Bad! My mom said “it’s just old” but it was more than the just old smell. Then we found the water—which does make things stink! But it was still bad. Especially one cupboard. So Isaac was on a mission. He cleaned out the cupboard. Nuthin. So in classic Isaac fashion he started tearing things apart. He took off the toe kick (which required removing some trim...whoop-I guess it can be done- I really don’t like how one piece in our living room turned out but he told me we couldn’t change it because he used liquid nail. Translation-he doesn’t want to change it it! Ha-so this was a -2nd-really good thing about this project) anyway he drilled a hole and got out the spotlight and sure enough found a dead mouse.
It smells way better around here though. He says “this is my issue with the poison” and I totally agree but we don’t know what the solution is. The traps weren’t working at all. If Im going to live here we’ve gotta do our best to keep the mice out. (Pretty sure this place was the mouse Hilton before we bought it 😩😩😩)
Anyway who knows...

Tann taking pics of Seth...its what happens when I get in the shower--could be worse!
And how bout this mom fail? I went to change Seth’s diaper in the car and...had left the diaper bag by the back door at home. Luckily there’s pretty much always wipes in the car and we found an old Pull Up of Tanners in the back of the van! Yikes! Definitely not on my A game! His face says it all!
I think that’s about it-
Friday. Blog. Check.

Sunday, March 24, 2019

Alright, its Sunday afternoon. We're watching inspirational messages...and we'll see what I can get scribbled out.
First pic up...Tanner took HAHA...guess we know what Seth thought of that...
Last Friday hang’n out with dad Tanner scored a shiner. I asked what happened and Isaac said "He has a black eye?...oh well he was throwing a fit so I had to carry him out, I thought he hit his head on the door, I guess maybe it was his eye." Tanners version was "I hit my eye on little green's door"
Oh and speaking of little green I better type it in before I forget. Isaac bought a saw this week. He and Tanner went to get it and I got a call that I might have to go rescue them. I didn't but I asked Isaac if he was finally going to give up on little green? He answered "no way I just put new tires on her." Oh brother. But "Its not going to fix itself, I'm going to have to spend some time on it." Ha. And ask me about the upstairs bathroom..no don't! But little green aside, maybe the motorcycle track will be kind of like the zip line...once done he'll really get going on other projects... Time will tell.
The big boys are always nagging me to hold Seth...but they usually only want him for about 30 seconds. Oh well.

Grama has worked on a lot more projects-she actually has this place looking pretty good. I took this next picture just to show what the dining room looks like after dinner when Grama is here...and I won't post what it normally looks like. I have more pics for the house blog but they will look better there! Another project she worked on (and Tanner helped) was to alter and then launder the sacrament table cloths. They look SO MUCH BETTER. They needed it. Oh and her and Colt and Tanner made some really yummy cinnamon rolls. And they made bread one day too. Tanner when after his own little loaf.

We've finally had some decent (more spring like) weather. Ok they still all have coats on but...they went OUTSIDE!!! Thank heaven. Cann was in charge of taking pictues of Colt for me. He took a lot.
I had lots of pics of Colt holding Seth this week. Tan is over my shoulder right NOW and he is not happy that I don't have one of him holding Seth. Whoops. Sorry little beast man. Oh and a snooze with dad when he sneaked home for lunch.

And when its finally warm enough to go to a park. Grama bought slushies and we called the Tiltons and went for it!

After the park we hit the Art show at Cannon's school. The sculpture is Woody the woodpecker (It helped me once I knew that)
Saturday Grama had to leave :(  -but she was super happy to get home and Grampa was ready to have her back too- we're super thankful for all her help while she was here though. (And I totally loved having a clean house for a while!) We made Grama drive herself down to the airport -not a big deal- but we headed to Nauvoo to meet up with the O'diams our good friends from Mississippi. It was REALLY REALLY FUN to see them. We have some really great friends from the time we lived there. We swapped while each other went to the temple. (They got the short end of that stick 4 kids vs 2 but we just did a few sealings and they did a session so hopefully it worked out. Isaac didn't even want to go after we tended, he wanted just me to go. I said no way. Anyway we went.) But Nauvoo just never dissapoints!! Check out the boys getting to make a rug. I tried to take a pictures of the "demonstration only" sign but this Elder was totally cool with letting them help. They have never got to do it before and they LOVED it. AND I found out from this elder's wife that they are next door neighbors to my good friend and former pitching coach Fern. So Cool huh?

The boys and Wren on the sheep then, not a single smile but by darn we were on that carriage ride. Isaac stayed inside with Seth, so of course Cannon wouldn't come with me if his dad wasn't there. Colt REFUSED to put a blanket on and was just mad he didn't have his sweatshirt. Stubborn pretty much was just stupid at that point...it was "nice" but still cold.

Oh and above's a pic of the boys working on a motorcycle engine with Isaac on Friday...I thought it was pretty cute until all the sudden I was the helper. HAHA. I couldn't do it either, he ended up figuring it out himself.
I don't know what else.
We all made it to church today...that was a victory. Driving in...on track to be on time Isaac called and had us go pick up two little primary kids that "wanted" to come. One of them wanted to come-the other one, no way. But we were late, and I walked in with 6 little kids.
YIKES
But we were there and the girl (who probably didn't really want to be there) her brother said the opening prayer and we made it for that--and I friends to help with Seth so it all worked out.

One more Isaac story??? That guy can sleep through ANYTHING. Seth screaming. Tanner SCREAMING...the same time no less. Tanner dreams about fighting with his brothers, this particular go around was over "Getting to push the button" I finally figured out it was the button on Grama's phone. Anyway. I'm back and forth with the two. Its just middle of the night craziness...and snoring.
But he'd forgot to turn his alarm off. And his alarm is pretty cool is starts out really quiet and then slowly gets louder and louder. Well Saturday the very first quietest little noise had him jumping out of bed. I just started laughing and said "NO WAY! Did that just wake you up." He's conditioned. But it worked out awesome for me. Because at 5...the alarm woke him up and he took over. And I got to go back to sleep for an hour and a half. That was a win.

I we'll see how the Friday vs Sunday thing works out. Jury is still out...but I WILL blog :)

Probably going to have to go with the Sunday blog plan this week...
Stay tuned. I’m sure I’ll be able to add to this when up with the Seth man in the middle of the night...

Friday, March 15, 2019

I might have to start blogging on a different day. Isaac hates it when the blog consumes me...maybe he doesn’t realize the blog is what keeps me sane-or maybe my sanity is debatable. Hmm anyway when I started blogging 9 years ago I blogged on Sunday and summarized the week. Isaac hated it cuz that was our day to spend together (actually now that I mention it he hated a lot of what I always did on Sunday-like... never mind I was definitely better at always keeping the blog positive back then too-ha.) anyway so I switched to Friday for him but now Sunday might be a better option for blogging cuz he’s gone most of the day Sunday most of the time. Screen time -scripture movies, Mormon messages (do we still call them that?) for  the kids, blog time for me. It could work out nicely.
But for now...
I’ll just do what I do.
Cannon got to go to his buddy’s baptism Saturday morning. He always loves to hold Seth though!!

Little Mr stretch and grow (above) sometimes just has to survive the Tanner love. Tan’s had a little rougher week with the adjustment this last week but it’s just life.

Saturday Isaac had a mini youth conference thing in Quincy and it was Colts turn for one on one time! Colt really wanted Cannon to go too (as soon as Cannon said he wanted to) but we decided just him them maybe they could do it again later in the week with Cann if he had fun. He did have fun,  but they haven’t...but anyway they went to Bonkers before the testimony meeting (I got one picture but...it took a lot of zooming in to find Colt 🀣) anyway Colt came home absolutely  glowing!!! Dad time was so good for him!
Sunday I left Seth with Grama and went to church. Cuz it was only 2 hours. I don’t know how we’re going to make it when we factor Seth into that circus and Gramas not here to feed the rest of them! But I guess we’ll figure it out somehow.
Sunday evening:

Uhhh maybe I need to just give in and buy a TV—they're watching it anyway...
Monday the boys came into our room dressed like this:

Well maybe this pic was after we’d sent them to get their trunks on, I think it was normal clothes and goggles initially but they said they wanted to go swimming and superdad said “why not. Let’s do it” We ended up just buying the month pass and they’ve been 3 times! It wasn’t like we were heading anywhere warm for spring break but at least they found some water.
That first day we went Cannon’s best friend from kindergarten was there so that was fun.

Tanner wanted to go but when we got there didn’t want to get in because the water was “too big” so the fact Isaac got him to jump in the second time we went was a pretty big deal. (I think Grama got him in the water the first day with a starburst bribeπŸ˜‰)
The other thing they’ve done for spring break fun is Cannon and Isaac play basketball at the church in the mornings. Cannon is doing the best with the Seth adjustment but I think that is because he’s the oldest-he’s been here before- AND because he’s really gotten a lot of individual attention from Isaac this week. Colt gets a lot of one on one time with Grama-they’re buddies- and Tanner just clings to me. But he and his Dad are hanging out today while Grama took the big boys to the Mark Twain caves in Hannibal. We did find a minute to prune the apple trees a little together one day though-that was good.

Lots more brother love. And they switched out BOTH of our missionaries so these girls stopped by with a little goody for the boys (and we made them cookies too) we loved the sisters and will miss them (and our p day kickball games) but I’m sure we’ll love the new Elders too.

Let’s see what else? Oh brother love...and brother fights. (Sums up life around here)

Grama had the great idea to take the big boys to breakfast the other day...pretty sure the above pic summarized how it went. Mixed in with some good behavior and smiles too of course 😊

And then there was Wednesday night. We’ve had a few more wasps just because it’s actually been above freezing...maybe twice...but sometimes you can hear’m. Well Isaac was asleep, and I was up feeding Seth and I heard something so I turned my head and no wasp-there was a freaking mouse!! I wanted to scream but Seth had already had a rough start to the night and puked all over and he was  actually settled down so I couldn’t scream but I grabbed Isaac. He slowly (way to slow for my liking in this type of circumstance) grabbed his glasses and said “where?” I pointed (and saw the dang thing again- but Isaac didn’t see it) so he got up and got the pack of poison the bug man had thrown behind the fridge and threw it under our bed...that was it. And then he was just awake cuz he’d had an hour and a half power nap. Great.  He  offered to find it and kill it but I didn’t know how that was going to work with Seth and I in there and the rest of the house asleep. And I didn’t think he’d really be able to find it, So reluctantly we just went to bed and I called the pest control people the next day. Wellllll the next day he brought out some more traps and that was that. We were doing the bedtime routine and I was going to read to Tanner. “Where’s your basketball pillow?” I ask and he says “in the libing room” so I went to get it and I saw the blasted mouse (I know it’s the farmhouse and there could be millions but we’re going with it was the same one for the sake of my sanity ok?) I saw it run under Seth’s car seat. I yelled for Isaac and said “bring a broom” he came and the mouse hunt was on. The living room with no way to shut the door, and lots of furniture to hide under, was a terrible place for a mouse hunt. eventually we had all three big boys “helping” between Cannon calling it a rat (Ug worse!) and yelling “dad let’s get the .22”  then getting his little toy rifle, oh brother. Sufficed to say it was a circus! Isaac wanted to use my new cordless vacuum-I wasnt amused. Somewhere along the way he said “what do you want me to do?” I said “either figured out how to get rid of the mice or don’t move me to the farm house!”  Back to the hunt-At one point it ran under the red chair Isaac was like “oh its up in the chair let’s just set it outside” but I wasn’t going for it. Luckily after a few minutes of debating it I spotted the little sucker across the room again. And the hunt continued. It moved into the dining room—the little sucker ran right at me but I didn’t have a broom. I screamed! Tanner cried oh man I was like give me the dang broom, then went and got one for myself.  It was now by the back door but so are all the shoes Ug! ! Isaac was up on a chair (why??? So all 3 boys were up on a stool in the kitchen) he was moving everything with a broom. I totally wish I had more pics but my eyes had to be on rodent patrol (I felt like I was best at spotting it) and I was trying to text a friend who was asking about one of Cannons teammates address through all of this. Anyway. Isaac was sure it just went out the back door which we had opened. I wasn’t. Kinda like the chair. But we’d moved everything and hadn’t seen it again...So Isaac was moving more and more stuff and I was saying “yes I’m sure it didn’t come back this way -100% positive” when he moved the bin (that has hats and gloves and who know what else in it) again and says nonchalantly “oh I killed it” he had dropped it on it one of the other times of moving it. At least it was over!
Then of course everyone had to look at it. It was gone before Tanner got to see it-he was mad so Cannon drew him a picture. Colt went upstairs and told Grama “my dad accidentally killed it” 🀣
Anyway...what a circus!
Here’s the one pic I did get. Cannon and that stupid toy rifle πŸ™„

Lastly here’s a few pics from the boys Hannibal adventures with Grama! She has more but these were a few they sent me.  They had a great time (and we’re pretty good for her too—good)

Swimming Basketball and then this little adventure—I think they’ve had a pretty good spring break.
