“Holy Bat Crap!”

So it’s 10:00 at night...I think I’ll blog while Isaac goes on a bat hunt in our house. Seriously!!! We were standing in the kitchen I was working on some ribs for the ward party tomorrow and he was making us a little milkshake treat then that &$)@ thing had to come flying in and ruin our night!!!
Worse yet, that thing was in our bathroom and the sucker buzzed me while I was sitting on the pot! Thank goodness the door was 1/2 open, I don’t know why the boys were in bed and Isaac was gone so I just didn’t shut the door all the way cuz I’m lazy I guess but at least the bat went out it. I then tried to convince myself it was a big moth that just went really close to me. Cuz sometimes this place wigs me out!!!! No moth. Wishful thinking. Confirmed bat. Sheesh.

So the week...

Saturday I had a mtg over in Nauvoo so I went early enough to go to the temple, Isaac had the troops. That night he bought more guinea hens...and after today the score is Belle 8 Guineas 0

Cannon was bummed but not as heartbroken this time probably because he didn’t find them. And even though I told Isaac he had 3 strikes—he’s says he’s done and not buying more. Isaac had wanted to go get more then ended up helping some friends in the other ward with a broken washer, well try as they might they couldn’t fix it so they found one on Craigslist and just bought it and Isaac went and got it for them and that took him right past the place to buy more guineas.
But that was short lived. Again.
I stayed home and worked on my talk. Last time I had to talk in church I knew that the bishopric would be changing the following week,  I didn’t know everything but the 1/3 I did know was enough to lead me to the false assumption that I had the next 5 years off from speaking in church. Wrong. But talks are always more for the person preparing them and it was a good topic so I really am grateful for the opportunity.
That was the weekend then it was back to the grind...
Monday we had some friends over—they were going to come get some dirt for their yard and do FHE so I said let’s grill too. It was fun—except somehow Colt ended up stepping on hot coals. Dang. And Dang to that disaster area of a room behind him too!

Oh crap
He’s recruiting me for the bat hunt...
Send up a prayer!

Ok update:
While we ducked the bat the little sucker actually went in the boys room. Well Isaac scoured the house to no avail, oh the first thing we did was put a box spring in front of the boys room because still no door there, we wanted to make sure it didn’t go in there-ha. So we trap it in, can’t find it anywhere! So we decide we have to put the boys door on because the boys would freak if they woke up and were barricaded in. (The door was in the “workroom” next door all along it just had writing on it we wanted to get cleaned off—later) so we hang their door, I’m standing guard to make sure it doesn’t come in (ha) then he decides before we shut the door and declare that room bat free he better check one more time...and he found the little sucker above in the corner above there closet. (There’s space above all the closets because they are added in here...it weird but whatever) So then we pull the kids out of there and throw them all in on bed. Open their window, shut the door and hope for the best.

Isaac slept upstairs I slept??? Mostly where ever I could fit on the bed with the boys and on the floor. I started out upstairs and we used our phones as kid monitors but after I’d been downstairs 3 times in the first hour I just stayed down. Tanner is a restless little son of a gun. All night long “I want milk” “I want fruit snacks” sometimes he really wakes up to make these requests...demands is more like it. Sometimes it’s sleep talk  “Cannon hit me” totally not true just his dream “I want to go to that park!” And so on...what a pain. Nap pending for me!!!
But the good news is this morning the bat was gone. My fearless bat hunter checked rechecked and played the bat repellent noise on his phone in there. Soooo in the end, I think we’re good.

The only other pictures on my phone...
Tanner is NOT potty trained but it didn’t seem to bother him much when I sprayed him off with the hose.

We got hit by a sale on some $6 light up paw patrol shoes at Aldi...they jumped in our cart. And LEGO “ships” galore.

I think that’s the wrap!

Colt-la-wote is 5!!!

Oh crud it’s Friday—I’ve got nuthin!
Oh but Colt turned five, that’s kindof a big deal-I should have something!!!
The week was dominated by that stupid clean up project, once we decided to rent the excavator for the whole week we tried like crazy to get our hours out of it.
I hate projects...I think cuz they are inevitably all consuming. But we had to return it this morning so maybe life will get back to normal.
It looks a lot better over there though and we agreed it was probably our only option as far are as permanent tenet removal. Oh brother—a lesson we had to learn though.

Colts big day was Tuesday—I think he had fun.

Modeling Clay from Grama -he’s my little project man! He loves it and we gave him a big art box full of supplies—he’s set!

He wanted a cake with a toy on it-he got to pick the toy, Rocky from Paw Patrol so it was a green Rocky paw patrol cake...sure, all his favs!
We didn’t really DO anything for his birthday but since we were in the excavator business this week we went and got his buddy Sam to come run it with us too, Colt was hot and cold whether he even wanted to do that. He pretty much just always wants to do what Cannons doing, my little follower.

We tried out my new mixer that I’ve had for months today, we made cookies for the primary birthday party, it worked like a champ and I has some pretty good help.

And Isaac came home with a load of rock in Bishop Sorhus’ dump truck today. 3.5 inched of rain last night did a little number on our driveway.

That really all I’ve got.

Back to School

Saturday’s adventure was going to buy a used Brush Hog...that they got a great deal on...craigslist. oh that reminds me Cannon (leader) and the other boys wanted new toys the other day they were sure they could put there old ones on Craigslist “$59 bucks, pickup only” it was pretty dang funny. Anyway back to the brush hog  then we had to pay another $100 to get the driveline fixed so it would even work with our tractor. But they’ve been mow’n the heck out of things around here and Isaac's pretty happy with how it working, so that’s good.

When they got there the boys also found this little wagon to buy. They hook it up to the lawn mower and ride around in it...or haul the garbage down to the road or whatever. We’re just collecting (useful) junk. But it’s fun.
We also got to tend the cute Moody kids for a few minutes that night, they’re darling and we had fun. The other thing last weekend was a lot of extra church meetings. Some of the general auxiliary women leaders were in our general vicinity so they broadcast to our building. We learned though so it was good.
Sunday they made their own stick guns and duck taped grass blades on for triggers. I said it wasn't a very Sunday like activity to which they told me they were "like the stripling warrior but with guns" what could I say to that?

This was really this weeks fun. I'm telling ya, that cellar hill is perfect for a good time. Isaac ultimately wants to move the cellar...I of course have never stepped foot in that thing, nor do I intend to, but the hill right out the back door is a good time.
Tanner actually didn't love it. He wanted his hand washed off when they got the grass on them...and really it turned into a mud slide pretty quick, but Cannon and Colt--LOVED it. And for all the dang fighting I sure do love watching them play and have fun together!! They did a really good job with that this week. I noticed and I am grateful!

I'm pretty sure the plan was to send Tanner down the stairs in the laundry basket...I put the kibosh on that one.
And then it was back to school. Bittersweet! Some days I'm was so ready for them to go back...but now that its real-dang those are long days, especially for Cannon and boy I'll tell you what- his brothers miss him while he's gone!!! We were happy to have a friend from primary in Colts class.

Just waiting for Cann, I made him ride the bus home because it said he would get here just as fast as I would be able to get him and it would mean only 2 trips for me instead of 3. I don't know if I can do it though, the first few days are always slow,  we're just ready to have him back! We'll see, time will tell, but its nice to have the option.
And today's project.
He borrowed Bishop Sorhus's dump truck, and rented an excavator, and hes tearing down the "project" house.

Its been such a nightmare, not this part, the renting it out, getting code violation notices from the city, trying to get the people out, etc. Oh boy. It will be good to be done with it though.  If we can survive getting it done this weekend.
Isaac asked me to run a chainsaw for him tomorrow...I asked who was going to tend our kids? Glad I'm his #1 though. 😏
Until next week.

Recovery week

Last week I ended up having to post the backup as so much got left out. But then I never checked so I don’t know what’s there.  This week was recovery week! I can’t think of anything significant and there was really only a handful of pictures on my phone. We’ve had minimal success in the potty training world but part of me wonders why I didn’t just wait until school started and we had a little routine and structure. Probably because we’ve waited long enough!!! Tanner has a routine-it’s go upstairs and poop in his undies! Ahhhh I hate potty training.
Anyway here’s the pics-Colt showing off his new sweatshirt he got from Eric, they both love green.

And everyone playing Undie dress up.
Boys. They’re crazy!

Tonight we had a extra meeting for parents with some area authority and general leaders. (Actually Elder Hintze is our friends from Mississippi -they’re back in MO now- but his dad) Isaac roped the YM/YW into tending so all parents could go. So I made popcorn for that shin dig and the boys LOVED getting to watch a movie.
Bout it.
Oh and we found out Cannons teacher, school starts next week. Wow-just like that, there goes Summer!

(Backup) Ison family camping trip

Saturday we took the first load up to our campsite. We had a few disasters but they were solvable.

The boys had a great time setting up

When we headed home we slipped over to Buck and Chanie’s. We got to see their new place, the kids loved Brady and McKoy’s toys. We slipped up to Millsite but it was really too cold to to swim. Then we had a bbq with the whole Parrish crew at Buck’s parents. It was a blast, as usual!

Sunday night we headed back up to the campsite! No service! So completely disconnected, but we had a great time! It actually reminded me a lot of Panguitch growing up!
Not as many pics as usual because having my phone around up there was useless. But I got a few, more on my other camera but I haven’t even looked at them. Isaac in his old man hat—I told him it aged him 30 years. Haha!

Tarra made a killer $3 purchase of animals. I guess Aaron threw a fit (I can totally relate) but look at this!! Hours of cheap fun!! Tarra wins!

I do enjoy the heck out of visiting with my sister in laws! Isaacs sister Sabrina is one of my favorite people because she gets Isaac but she still gets why I shake my head in disbelief at some things. She a good voice of reason for all of us SILs 😊 we have a great time visiting, and should probably do it more!

Building a Cannon with Grampa Ison

The drive home has never been worse! (And sorry to throw him under the bus but Isaac totally made it worse when he got on i70 and headed back west after breakfast this morning. 45 miles the wrong direction-not fun- thankfully he saw a Denver sign that made him realize! I had handed the kids their tablets and laid right down. Oblivious of his confusion I was laying down inbewtween the seat and sent a few text for him then fell asleep. I will never just crawl in and go right in to sleep again. Direction checks mandatory!) I wasn’t on my A game either, that same breakfast stop that morning I pulled in and parked completely forgetting I had a trailer on—left it hanging out. Oh brother! Isaac fixed that mess and we agreed it was a little scary I just forgot about the trailer. My conclusion is we really shouldn’t drive through the night after a week of camping and sleeping on 1/2 flat air mattresses in the future. We just weren’t very well rested and that inmy mind is the bottom line.
