That dang mower

Ever since my conversation with Levi every time “normal” stuff happens around here I think: is this YouTube channel worthy? But really writing is way more my style because I can write that something is a piece of crap. Think twice about it and go back and write “crud” or “stuff” or some thing that’s a lot nicer. Can you imagine how much I’d have to edit, if I was YouTube’n 😳 it could be bad.
Or I could just “watch” myself and my thoughts and my words like that scripture in Mosiah says…that would definitely be the higher road. And the road I did NOT take when I got up this morning to make Tanner some promised muffins and there was Isaac on the phone, Cannon next to him  -all ears -listening in because he was calling about a horse for sale on Craigslist.
I’ve since apologized but I assure you there was nothing patient long suffering or kind about my response. 😀🀯
I had asked him how serious he was about it a couple days ago when Cannon was nagging him to call and he said “about making the call? 100%” so I should’ve known but to over hear that conversation you’d of thought he was 100% serious about getting another horse. I flipped my lid.
We don’t own the one we do have.
Why doesn’t he just pay Jack for it?? Or give it back!
While we do have a truck now-we don’t have a trailer.
He doesn’t get it.
He didn’t worry about having someone check and make sure it had water the whole 2 weeks we were gone-I did! Oh and we’re leaving again so why would you buy a horse to then leave.
They don’t -they can’t -ride it - part of his reasoning  for wanting another one.
And I don’t get it either.
I think he should buy a new (gasp) lawnmower!
Which gets me back to Friday and maybe back on track.
Friday Isaac re-injured his back working on the mower. I am so tired of it always being broken,  he looked at new ones (not new he looked at ones on his favorite auction site) and “they don’t make money” so he doesn’t want to buy one —side note the “Golden” Goose hasn’t made him any money either we could at least be productive with a mower— Tanner had a little stroke of genius, though he told his dad he wants to start a mowing business. I was like oh yeah, why didn’t I think of that!

***
good grief! I am interrupting this blog post to just insert the ridiculousness of the last 30 minutes. I had one job- get the baby to sleep- then  I can do whatever I want. I can fold laundry I could do something else I needed to get done…or BLOG!….whatever! Potential naps long worth of mom free time!!!  Isaac meanwhile I was taking all four boys to the neighbors to clean out their pond. It’s part of their pond business….maybe…they welded this thing together (and I love the boys learning to weld and getting to help him on things like that) but they made this contraption that is going to clean out the lily pads. Whatever,  off they go right??  and I say “call me if you need me.” That was my mistake! So Tanner and Colton wanted to ride the motorcycles. Isaac told him he didn’t think it was a good idea, but he didn’t tell them no, so they don’t understand why it’s not a good idea and they-in true Isaac fashion- do whatever they want. Off they go on the motorcycles! presumably, following Cannon who’s driving the excavator, well Cannon stays to the left of the neighbors field and they go off on some trail to the right. Tanner finds Isaac somewhere or somehow I don’t even know but Colt has killed his and can’t get it started, so I get the rescue mission call. Leave the sleeping baby and get on the four wheeler and go find the missing kid! (now before you call CPS on me just remember we are really just talking about in the neighbors fields right next to us but still) so I jump on the four wheeler head down the driveway, take off down the gravel road and 150 feet past the mailbox, the four wheeler just dies -dead in the middle of the road. So I called Isaac back, no answer, but alas, this one was my fault. I hadn’t turned the gas back on so now I know exactly how far that machine will go with whatever gas is left in the system. 😏  I get it started -oh after I pushed it out of the middle of the road cuz initially I didn’t know what to do but I didn’t want it there, but ultimately I head back on my rescue mission. I find Cannon and then I find Tanner finally Tanner leads me to Colton. Along these different stops or “finds” I’ve called Isaac now four times and he hasn’t answered any of them! But finally, I get Colt started back up and Isaac called back, but I can’t talk to him  right then- we’re trying to get this thing going! So we get his started -OK now they were going to the neighbors house, but Tanner got ahead of me and Colton so he killed his motorcycle because he was waiting for us but not going fast enough. Colton then gets up on the road and goes toward the  neighbors house so I get Tanner started get him going and I’m  headed back to check on the baby right? No, I decided I better follow them and thank heaven, I did! Colt didn’t stop at the neighbors house. He claims he didn’t even know where those neighbors lived. I said “why were you gonna ride to their house in the first place then? “ And he answered “I was just gonna follow Tanner” well Tanner watched him drive right by the neighbors house And so he sped to catch up to Colton. (I hope this sounds as ridiculous when you’re reading it as it felt when I was living it ) but I thought OK maybe they know a back gate into the pond that I don’t know about  but… I just wanted them to go to the house so I catch up to them both (oh and I don’t know you have to manually shift that four wheeler so I am revved up like crazy in first gear, but I did catch them and I’m cussing that fourwheeler the whole time until Isaac calls me and tells me that I have to manually shift it and where the button is) but I tell Colt and Tanner to turn around and go back to “their house” meaning the neighbors and I thought I pointed right at it.  Ditch the presumed back gate! …Well… they turn around and  drive right by the neighbors house!!! AGAIN!!  and now I’m so far past done I’m fix’n to implode,  so I just caught up to them again, and said “go home!!”  So I get them home and they’re both in tears!!!   Colt -so slow -putted home cuz he was just upset about being  “lost” twice, just following Tanner didn’t work out. Tanner cuz now he didn’t get to ride his motorcycle over there. I said “what? You just rode it clear over and back-and in all the mishap disaster and you got to ride way further than you would have!” He pouted in response  “well it wasn’t useful” yeah-no kidding. Somehow this is normal for my life. I really can’t make it up. I was going to take them back in the car but Isaac came back in the truck and then they rode the 4 wheeler over.  (Sigh)…. At least I got to blog vent a little but there’s the next crying kid.
1/2 hour disaster 1/2 of me writing it out and now she’s up. Addster-that was too short!

So where was I?
He’s out puttering with the mower hurts is back-comes in (should’ve quit much sooner) and it’s spasming like crazy. He is in excruciating pain, and we couldn’t  do anything to help him. But we did kinda laugh when he was bent over like a gorilla and yelping gorilla-ish noises. It was bad.
Saturday morning we went down to the freedom run our friends put on. They did it last year. It was a Fourth of July celebration but they’re gonna be out of town this year so they did it a week early.
I had no excuse not to run this year -except for that I’m fat and out of shape…that probably should’ve been my excuse- but Isaac was game to just stand in their front yard and try and walk around (like 90 year old) to loosen is back up and watch Addi
So we ran
And then we had a water fight!

It was pretty fun. He was the photographer for the water fight but he was getting too far away from the action. I’ll have to look at his phone and see if there’s any pics I want to snag.
That evening he was the crippled supervisor instructing us how to put the mower back together.

I was up to my elbows in grease at one point but really did fluctuate between happy to help -totally perplexed that having me help him that dirty that gross makes him so happy-and also muttering whatever you can imagine under my breath. It was both.
But Colt subbed in for me and the finished up and got that thing running again!
Works like a champ!

Sunday smiles! Follow the prophet! Go to church and read your scriptures. πŸ˜‰

Oh and we missed our nephew Brandon’s homecoming because we couldn’t pull off Idaho but Cannon spoke in church on “preparing to become a diligent missionary” he did good. We enjoyed Elder Doman’s mission report too. I taught …errrr led the discussion….in RS on Elder Soares and President Eyring’s talks on Followers of the Prince of Peace and Finding Personal Peace-so it was a busy day.

But I’m not done cuss’n that mower yet!
When he was taking it apart Seth was playing all over and he paid the price in Poison Ivy! 😩 poor guy!!

He this little mini Isaac that never complains though-it’s pretty impressive.
Tanner had his last two baseball games this week.

I think he had fun, he had fantastic coaches and I think he got better so…πŸ‘πŸ»
His last game he hit the ball but not hard, after I asked him why he wasn’t swinging hard  and he said because we were playing three strikes and I don’t want to strike out. Hmmm ok once you have two but until then-let it rip buddy!
Wednesday we had a fun little project.

I rode Isaacs bike with Addi in the seat in front and Seth on the tag along bike behind and we headed for the cemetery! Tan had trouble shifting which was kind of a disaster but overall it was a win. (And pretty good exercise too. I don’t know if I’d say I’m fully committed but I’m trying to not be quite so sedentary after that freedom run, but after a few days my feet were killing me so I needed a bike ride to give them a break.

I dunno what else-I’ve probably told enough stories but…this looks like a good sore back project right?

Cann said he found a stud πŸ˜†
This project was kinda my fault though. He’d mentioned the ceiling sagging then I was laying on the floor after stretching or something and saw it and I was like oh crud it looks like the whole thing is going to fall any second!
I mean we had good help though,  the stud above and this little girl. Not picture is me standing on the arm of the couch (or that high stool) holding the ceiling up while he pounds.

So what else?
Baseball in evenings, some crazy thunderstorms in the mornings (we just missed one the day we rode to the cemetery) the next day it flipped the tramp over  and left us without power that for four hours. We were thankful the tramp didn’t blow into any vehicles!
I think that’s about it.
And I have “better” pics of her in the googles but this one shows the proud culprit brothers. Oh brother!

And I think we’ll end on that. πŸ˜‰

The Addster slept through the night last night! Might be a first-come on Addi-let’s make it 2 in a row! 🀞🏻
When I finally finished blogging last week I thought maybe I could just not take any pictures and not have anything to report…but…yeah right! So here we go!
I think I stopped with Friday last week
Saturday our kids were SO TIRED they all slept in but then we tried to squeeze the hotel breakfast and swimming in (even though his cousins were meeting back at the reunion at “9:00” we beat to our own drum) With Grandmas help we kinda pulled it off and I tried my best to listen to Aunt Charmaine’s funeral over zoom. I got most of it-but it got a lot easier after they took off and I drove Grandmas car up and met them. I think they got there about 11:30 and me not too long after.
When planning we decided to stay the extra day because when they did it two years ago they had a better turnout on Sat than Friday. But really only one more cousin of Isaacs came-I said hi and introduced myself as Isaacs wife but that was about it. Oh and her husband shared their baby wipes with me when Addi slimed applesauce everywhere-thanks! But I think that was a fun family to have come- they have 6 kids right in our kids ages. That’s really not a very good report on the morning though. πŸ˜‰ We tried to talk Tyler (2 years older than Cann) into coming back with us and having a true Ison experience, Levi was ready to take him home to pack a bag and stop and buy my new vlogging camera on the way-cuz he’s willing and ready to be the first investor in my YouTube channel documenting…well you know the video version of all the stuff you read here on the blog. πŸ˜‚
Oh and we watched the same family history play as the night before (but the kids had different parts) but at one point they are telling about how Levi Mathers Savage married a cantankerous woman and Isaac says (quietly we were in the back) but he says “we need to find her old journals-what if her version is different” I laughed and told him he better get writing or my version is the only version anyone is ever going to have of our story!
He says I embellish—I admit to being a story teller but the guy gives me LOADS of content. Now you know how the YouTube conversation came up πŸ˜‰
Anyway we were originally going to leave at noon (before we didn’t get there until almost noon) but once I decided it was going to be a lot better to just see what happened, maybe we’d make it back for church maybe not, it was a lot less stressful! The kids actually wanted to stay and do the play again-we thought it was positive thing, I don’t know when we got out of there-maybe 3? Huntington by 4:30 or so. Then we had to load up from there. We left around 6 Utah time, but forgot to get gas so we stopped in Wellington fueled up and had Subway for dinner.  Isaac is doing better now but he was SO CRIPPLED we finally got him to take ibuprofen but sitting was the worst on his back. It was a long stressful drive. I slept the last 10 minutes getting back to Huntington but mostly I felt like I started tired and it was just a long miserable drive! We missed church by a couple hours.
I blogged a little Sunday but Monday it was still recovery day! Oh but we got Cannon packed for Young Mens camp and Tanner and Cannon both had baseball!
Tuesday Isaac and Cannon headed off to Young Mens camp and the rest of us made cookies  cookies and more cookies. We took 3 different kinds of cookies and drinks down to the kids at Ray’s as a thank you for watching the horses water and grabbing our mail.

When we were delivering them Isaac called but I brushed him off cuz we’d just got to Rays and I was visiting but I called him back.
They had quite a deal at camp. A worker had accidentally turned TONS of chlorine into the pool while the kids were in it. It was a scary deal (not that I got much of that from Isaac-more from Michaila who’s husband Ben was the other leader there) but 4 kids went to the hospital-one they flew to Iowa City. I guess Cannon was all fours struggling to breath for about 10 minutes but then just slowly got better and better. Michaila said the kids that went to hospital were presumably the ones by the jets when it got turned in. Anyway. I told Isaac to just send me a pic of Cannon smiling and having fun the next day-
Cuz he was fine long before I ever heard about it- but still.
I got this around 5 the next evening

With added text that they’d canoed clear to Iowa!
Sweet! πŸ’ͺ🏻
We…stayed busy and had fun.

I even got in the pool with them.
The wild black raspberries are ripe!

The only bad thing about getting in with them is they want me to all the time now. Oh well-hopefully I’m winning good mom points.
Addster started walking across the living room today—I have movies but I still haven’t  got the Slug Bug movie made.
I’m slipp’n!

Going going going!

Oh my goodness we have been going nonstop! I have the pictures to prove it but who knows what I’ll get to.
Maybe tomorrow on the drive???
Isaac doesn’t like to sit around! If he doesn’t have a project he’ll make one up!
But…
Here’s the short version
Sat-he worked on Nathan’s truck and went on a ride with his brothers-We hit the Emery County pool.
Sunday, Church and I think we relaxed—not sure
Monday we hiked in the mountains
Tuesday we hiked on the desert
Wednesday we hung Grandma out to dry with 5 kids and went to the temple
Thursday—the old bug Aunt Sabrina used to drive.
Friday the Saratoga Springs temple open house! It was amazing! Most of the pics are on Grandma’s phone and of course no pics inside but wow-the picture in my mind of our whole family all sitting in the purple high backed chairs in the celestial room.  It was heaven!

And extended Ison family reunion! Isaac especially loved talking to Uncle Bob about his Grandma Ison that died long before he was born. His cousins wife also wrote a play about an ancestor -Levi Mathers Savage- and the kids all acted it out they even got Cann and Colt to participate!

.
Hopefully I’ll add the pics -and details—as we drive across the country

We left Santa Clara so he could ride with his brothers…they did but first this
I totally thought they were gone on motorcycles one of the kids was like “no mom dads out working on Uncle Nate’s truck.”
Maybe ya have to be an Ison but…this is pretty normal.

They did eventually go riding and I think they had fun.
Aliyah took Seth-a-roo for a ride in her frozen car. Dress up at the all girl house??? Ok Tan be Wonder Woman🀣
And the pool-not pictured Colt’s belly flop “dive” I couldn’t show him cuz I was holding Addi but…we have some work to do in the diving dept.

Uncle Shawn has a fun new trampoline, Tanner loves old stuff, video games —they did pretty good …kind of…not playing or asking to play all the time. And a little go fish!

More cousin time with Aliyah and Uncle Shawn has pretty sweet weight room—it’s nicer than Kirksville High’s (says Cannon-I don’t know I’ve never been in KV’s)

Sewer ponds! Tanner got Uncle Shawn’s old BMX bike out, called it “his” and put as many miles on it as he could! Around the block or at the sewer ponds he didn’t care-just loves to ride!
Then both Cann and I trying out my new motorcycle. It’s a good one! πŸ˜‰ Cann is Mr in the moment-riding motorcycles you’d think that was all he loved to do-but really he is most into-whatever’s going on right now! That is what he loves to do.
After all that fun Monday there was still daylight…so…we headed up the Canyon to Millfork and hiked there:

Colt Colt Colt…oh and helping “clear the Forrest” good work guys!

Colt…every 5 steps he says “will you take a picture of me here mom” which the picture taker in me loves and I know it’s my fault and I usually oblige but-I have a lot of him. And sometimes I think “hey I’m supposed to get to pick where I want 5 million pictures” πŸ˜’

We took the trailer and hauled Tan’s beloved bike. We thought he’d love riding down the hill. And chit chatted about how good it was for him and how much he was probably loving it. —Oh cuz in true Isaac fashion we sent him off up ahead.
By time we caught up-😳😳😳-he was a hot mess! Furious!
Mad it was hard to pull the break.
Mad it was downhill (because he was going faster than he wanted) oh and mad he wrecked twice.
Whoops.
Sorry buddy.
Cannon was happy to ride it the rest of the way down!

Mostly Collage pics but some are too good to combine!

Huntington really is a cool place-10 min one way you’re in the mountains 10 minute the other way and you’re out on the dessert and it goes and goes.
Tues headed that way with a few sandwiches and snacks and only had to be back in time to watch Aliyah play t-ball-if we wanted. We made it-and we made a lot of noise when she was up to bat too πŸ˜‚ she did great!
But about those desert pics…

A true Isaac adventure-of course he had to check something on the truck. And a family pic with the dog😏

I asked Isaac for the temple pic from Wed and he actually had more desert pics! So a few more:

And the temple pic. It was his first time doing an endowment session at Provo City. It was a fun day. The kids had fun at the park and going to the library and just playing with grandma too—everybody wins!

And then Thursday…
I think I need just make a movie of the slug bug project…but

After all those collages those pics look huge but…video pending…hopefully 🀞🏻🀞🏻
A few other highlights -CFM scriptures with Grandma,  learning how the snap dragons work, helping weed, and cleaning guns with Uncle Shawn

All of this is only the tip of the iceberg right?
But Friday the Saratoga Springs temple!

It was a self paced tour and we were slower than most but it was amazing we loved the pictures especially if we’d talked about it in CFM recently. And one of the landscape ones had Elk! That was the 3rd time we’d seen elk THAT DAY.
We drove up over Huntington Canyon instead of the normal way -saw some on top- then an Elk farm in Fairview—turned around for a closer look— Isaac drove right by the no trespassing sign and the rest of us freaked out. He turned around but…at a pace that was more convenient for him, then for the rest of us. 😬 but I do admit seeing those out -all bulls- up close their massive antlers. It was pretty impressive. So when we saw that landscape picture on one of the top floors of the temple and it had the elk in it, it was just a cherry on top to our elk hunting day! Or 2 days. The night before Isaac had  take’n the younger two boys spot lighting… Maybe he didn’t come home till 1 o’clock in the morning😳… let’s get back to the temple! Part of me would like to rein him in a little-the other part of me is like “eh just enjoy it”

Last week in St. George I hurt my back picking up Seth-I didn’t mention it here on the blog because who cares right?  but Isaac did all of the packing of Addi for me and I was pretty hobbled up. Well this week in Huntington it was him! Isaac had Addi in his arm  and he had a tire for the slug bug in the other …because that’s a whole other part of the story that I missed. They had just barely -like two days before-given away a different slug bug that grandpa Ison had,  but then they decided to get this one running, but it only had three tires that would air up. None of them would REALLY hold  air but three of them would for as long as they were gonna run around the block. So they just needed a fourth tire, so Isaac went to the guy they gave this slug bug away to and borrowed the tire back just for the one day we ran it-classic Isaac-but when he was returning the tire, he had the Addster in his arms and he swung the tire up into the truck just wrong to where he hurt his back-pretty bad-…wait… crud does this mean we’re getting old? Maybe…Our kids are supposed to be keeping us youngπŸ˜‰ anyway he is so stubborn and won’t admit it but he was so crippled! All of that to say, when the gal on the golf cart offered to give us a ride to the van after the temple tour —we kind of bullied him into just taking it and it was really fun to take pictures,  so we did!

And last, but not least the family reunion!

It was a good time. They were giving me a hard time about documenting our life on a YouTube channel— maybe somedayπŸ˜‚
Isaac’s brother Levi is ready to invest 🀣🀣🀣
