Oh, I just remembered this part of Sunday night too. (Because I heard Isaac tell them to go get the screen so they can get it put back in… ) but anyway I was sitting on the couch just Marco Polo-ing back-and-forth with my parents and the boys came in just as happy as could be saying they had snuck in. I was like what “snuck in? Like from downstairs?” And they said “no we climbed through the window!” So I have no idea what provoked it, but they put a ladder up to their bedroom window. Took the screen out and climbed into the house. I have no clue why but—they were pretty proud of themselves.
Monday morning we started getting ready to go camping at probably 8:30… And I think we left around 3:30! To me it’s just crazy —the kids had a blast— but the work to fun ratio just seems so out of whack in my world— but whatever they wanted to go camping. We wanted it to be fun for them for spring break so off we went (eventually) in the motorhome.
My main goal was to keep my cool and just try to be happy about it! While Isaac was puttering and borrowing a trailer for the motorcycles (and he stopped by Walmart. Things are always more fun when dad goes to Walmart!! They came home with a loot!) Anyway- while they were gone Tanner and I made some tinfoil dinners, he did great!
It was beautiful and the kids played outside helping here and there for the load up process…

We got out of town and Tanner commented on how smooth it went. The fact he noticed tells us—there’s always something!
We went to Finger Lakes a state park by Columbia that has a place to ride motorcycles. I knew we were going in off-season, but I didn’t know that meant the bathrooms/showers were closed, but they did have outhouses, and the water was turned off…at least we still had power!
Oh, and because we were so long with the trailer behind the motorhome, there was no way to get the motorhome level, so it was a little crazy, but it was an Ison adventure…we were making memories!
Oh, and there was automatic transmission fluid on the ground where the jacked up the front of the motorhome, luckily we had some in the motorhome if we had needed more. Isaac checked it but he didn’t feel like it was low so he thought maybe we just pushed it a little too hard backing up or maybe it had been overfilled and that’s what we leaked out🤷♀️ but anyways, he wasn’t too worried about it and it wasn’t doing me any good to be worried about it because I don’t know anything about that stuff (he kept calling it ATF it took me a while to figure out that I thought transmission fluid was the red stuff and then I finally realized ATF is an abbreviation for automatic transmission fluid —🤦♀️, so glad we’re on the same page! 😉
They got those tinfoil dinners on and then rode off into the sunset while they cooked.
I think that’s Colt on the motorcycle. He has tremendous balance. It is absolutely impressive because he rides his bicycle about 10 times faster than he rides a motorcycle. He’s just so slow and careful and cautious but I’m telling you the balance to be able to go that slow is pretty impressive. And he really doesn’t like the motorcycles so I’m proud of him for being willing to keep getting on and to go and just putt along.
Dinner was good.
We played hide and seek that night, but our house is definitely a better place for that Colt ended up pretty disappointed and Cannon just turns everything into tackle football🤯
Last week Addi and Isaac were painting the makeshift table bed they created for the motorhome.
But when the load up process was taking so long, actually finishing that project got vetoed. But they still fight over who gets to sleep on the dash -which I don’t remember anybody ever making it through the night up on the dash- so I just told Colton to let Seth start up there and then when he moved if Colt wanted to he could go up there, but that stubborn Sethy he made it all night!
And I woke up to them cooking breakfast on the fire!
We forgot a few things like the Dutch oven we were going to make apple cobbler in, syrup for the French toast sticks, and salt for the eggs (that was an easy veto with no salt) but the pie feeling that was going to be in the cobbler made pretty good syrup!!
After we finished breakfast, they were ready to ride at the motocross track that the place had. Tanner got a new helmet the Christmas before last but other than that we haven’t bought helmets since Cannon was five years old and Isaac broke his when he wrecked in Utah one of the most recent times. So we ended up down there with more motorcycles and helmets and I had to do a little shuffling, Isaac would go with some kids then come back with helmets and get the rest of us—he really doesn’t mind inconviences…it’s one of his strengths, but not mine. 😊 However…I do love shopping, (should we call that a strength?) anyway 2 new helmets came today. 😬 One that I thought would fit Isaac (and the colors match his 450) was a good deal—so I bought 2! I figure if we’re only going to buy them every seven years we would probably end up using it!
The kids rode and rode while he came back for me and Addi and Seth watched from the grandstand, but by time I got there, they were like mostly done with riding and ready to go back. (So more shuffling) Except Cann wanted to show off his jumping!
He really is just getting better and better! 
After we got back from the track Cannon and Isaac went on a little trail ride which Cannon loved and I do think he and Isaac will go back there and ride. I don’t know if we would necessarily camp but maybe anyways they got out on some of the trails and had some fun, the other kids mostly played with the fire, tried to roast marshmallows out of the cereal and stuff, but also walked over to the park and stuff.
After that, we just ate lunch and packed up.
We left about 2:00 and Addi was so tired, but she fell asleep in my arms! I was just sitting in the back on the couch by where the table would go when we all heard a horrible noise, I said “that sounded like it was right under me!”
There was an exit right there, but it didn’t keep making noise so we rolled on right past it—maybe 50 feet after where the on-ramp from that exit came back on we started here in the thumb-thump, thump-thump!
I wanted so bad to document it, but Addi was asleep in my arms, and I wanted even worse to not freak out and make things worse and so I was just praying my guts out to keep my cool!
We had to limp about 16 miles to Moberly, when we could see the signs for the right exit when Isaac finally pulled over to look at it, He pulled off a chunk that was flapping tearing stuff up. I mean he didn’t get all of it because when we started going again, it was still making horrible noises and flapping, but when we stopped he was able to get the size of the tires so we could call ahead and make sure they had them.

Walmart did not have that size a tire but they gave him the name of another tire shop that was actually right on the same exit just the other direction and probably just as close as Walmart. Phew.
The guy at the tire shop said “oh I put the tires on that thing 3 years ago.” 3 years ago?! We’ve had it for almost 2, That stupid tire probably only had 300 miles on it when it popped! Lame. But the good news is the guy was able to tell Isaac where the spare was just stashed in one of the back compartments that didn’t really open and we had never tried very hard. So there’s the silver lining we have a spare now and we even know where it is👍🏻
Isaac started to change it before the guy even came out so the stop wasn’t too long, but we had been telling these guys no screens no screens no screens you don’t always have to have a screen in front of your face but as soon as that stupid tire popped. It was like sure have them. I don’t even care…they loved that.
We survived it.
Spring Break Adveture ✅ one down.
We got up and going pretty early Wednesday morning and headed down to Kansas City to watch BYU play in the big 12 tournament. I’m so cheap, that I just prefer to watch on TV but it was pretty fun there’s just something about live Basketball that really is better. We just bought cheap seats, but they had a pretty good view of the court and Isaac was on the phone the entire time. So we didn’t try to move down to better seats because I wasn’t game to do that with five kids and there was a game after so I just didn’t want to.
We were late, because he had been on the phone, which I was not very happy about, but we walked in, and it was 8-0 cougars, so it was pretty fun.

When he did come sit by us for a few minutes he came back with popcorn. That helped my boys that the game couldn’t really hold their attention, and Addi was asleep in my arms. We didn’t leave the arena until after he was off the phone “for good” (ha) so we could actually pay attention to the five kids walking on the streets of Kansas City back to the car.
The on the phone was all about trying to get squared away to send Shawn to bid on a piece of property in Emery County. But we really only wanted it if it was a screaming deal so…it went too high too fast so it was all for not.
Darn.
Afterwards we talked about finding something fun to do in KC but ultimately the kids just wanted to play those stupid tablets so we let them and just headed home. We were home in time to make dinner, and have the kids still get down to their children and youth activities! A day trip to KC is not too bad. However, I wasn’t willing to do it again the next day! Cannon wanted to though, when we saw the tickets for the next day were only $4 holy cow! But as it turns out, I’m glad we went Wednesday-they got their tails kicked Thursday!
Thursday we kinda laid low—recovered (laundry and otherwise) from so much adventure!
And today they wanted to go fishing. Ug! But Isaac is awesome and made happen!
I think that’s about it…except for the dang movie…
It’s long and nore outdoor boys-ish than I’d like for the weekly update but…I can’t see making two of them, especially when I want to get Tanners baptism one done but I haven’t even started…
