The birthday that just keeps going. He asked if I could change the date in this pic. Sorry bud, no you just got a cake 2 days late because we went to the lake-twice.

Same old Saturday, I really need a separate place to tell the building story but …it’s a significant part of our life (or at least time) right now so I just keep putting it on.

We also polished up and typed up Tanners talk Sunday. Bishop Pettit loves to have everyone prepare a talk then maybe you get called on maybe you don’t. Primary was the latest. Tanner asked if I thought he’d get called on I said “100% Cannon went first I went first, guarantee you’ll get called on! “ and he did. First. But he did a great job! Good thing we prepared and practiced.

Saturday night I had Ward barbecue the same time we had the School business barbecue, but we kind of felt like we better show our face at the school business one and it was pretty fun. The Kaden’s are so nice to host.

Sunday Tan did great on his talk and a ward member very kindly complimented him and told Isaac this is what he thought things went like at our house.
Ha! I wish!!!
So I took a pic that night during CFM…of Cannon wearing green and white viking hat doing push ups. Seth…maybe clipping his toenails, I don’t know, but…not quite like the first pic.

Seth was at school so Addi painted her own toenails. 😂

Colts new game finally came! I’m telling you his birthday just keeps dragging on. But they had fun playing it-so that’s a win.
Seth had so much fun “lay boarding” by himself that Addi wanted to get in on it. She did great!
Our lake trip was a little crazy. There was one other car in the parking lot and it had Utah plates. So the guy and his daughter were out on a blowup kayak and just coming into the dock as we were pulling in. We chatted they go to the Macon branch, then we headed out and Colt made one quick run and Isaac decided we ought to go back and invite them to come with us. Let’s just say the kids weren’t thrilled. But it’s good for them to share, but anyway it was a little interesting…
And the water was perfect.
Any probably the best thing was talking through it afterward. I was frustrated Colt refused to go but I realized I was doing the same thing…anyway the second best thing was the water—it was perfect. 😊
Addi and I were trying to clean up around here. Anything is progress.

Hauling off that old picnic table…
And painting with berries…

We try to have fun.
Isaac’s been working hard on the building. The stupid ragweed is killing me in the allergy dept but I do try to help him some.

Back to School! & Colt is 12!

Man this first week back slammed us! We were well into that summer mode and perfectly content.

Poor Colt has to go back to school ever for his birthday. Bummer.

Hmm.

Oh well.

Saturday Cannon got home from his YM’s bike ride. Itinerary said 1:00…it was at least 5. Oh and I don’t think I wrote about it but they ended up having to borrow our truck but we got our truck and our kid back—that’s a win!

Coach Nesbitt does a moms practice…but for me it was kind of…more of a tease, I don’t know why I thought because Cannon’s a wide receiver I’d get to catch a football or something…it was more like a wussy toss. It was just kinof boring and it took forever and it was sticky hot and gross and at the end they were just taking lots of pictures but I just wanted to leave because my kid wasn’t even there but every time someone walked away they wee like “oh who is that…tell her we’re going to take one more picture with the boys” bla bla bla
And the old picnic table finally died. We have a plastic one we brought home from my parents and we talked about using the old one for a pattern and building a new one…but I think we’ll probably just buy one. We scavenged all the hardware though…
Sunday Isaac and Colt spoke in Hannibal. We…remembered bread 😉 and the only excitement was we got home at 11:30 and had to go back 12:15 for a seminary meeting. Cannon and I needed to go and Isaac had Colt so I didn’t feel like I could  leave the younger kids.  It was a hot day so we decided to have a bowl of ice cream and call it lunch before we headed back. Delicious. But so dumb! I took sugared up kids back and wanted them to not be wild 🤦🏻‍♀️ whoops
Monday we met teachers!

And Tuesday it school started! 5 kids in 5 different schools!

My friend helped with lunch the first day and snagged this :)
And Mrs Snyder sent this…I think Seth and I both going to love her!
And I printed those first day of school pics because the pics currently on my wall are a year and a half old 👎🏻 Tanner had a cute smile  but light on his face—so we did a redo and  I just kinda wanted him in orange. None of the words show on their shirts in prints because they’re cropped to square but.. the rest of the kids were in colors they like…well except Addi-she would have chosen Red if she could!

Wednesday was Colts big (lame) day. I had one little surprise (he did like it) we ordered him a game he picked out. I don’t know, he’s pretty easy going but I didn’t want his birthday to be lame so Wednesday we went on a little shopping trip but he’s just too cheap (hmm wonder where he gets that) but he didn’t think anything was worth buying just to buy

Speaking of where he gets that. I listened to this great podcast this week  that Isaac’s mom had sent. But when they were talking about light cleavers into light, intelligence cleavers unto intelligence that kind of stuff I thought him I think this might be true in other ways too. Like I know a couple where stubbornness definitely cleavers unto stubbornness…or in mine and Isaac’s case (ok we’re partly the stubborn one too) but I thought hey cheapskate cleaveth unto cheapskate. ✅✅ that’s us. But in other ways opposites totally attract so who knows.
Anyway back to Colt, he wanted to go to the lake for his birthday. We were crunched for time because Isaac had us stake meeting but we made it and it was fun!

I did not skip out on pictures of our little lake dawg on his birthday!

He might have had the most fun, but I think we all had fun!

Cann missed out because he had football.
This morning I got home from taking the boys to school and saw this. Ultimately I switched her out and Isaac and I did get another truss up today just the two of us (Add was playing inside)

Cannon didn’t have football so it seemed like a great day to head back to the lake even though we just went yesterday! But Cannon didn’t want to and Tan opted to stay home too, but the rest went and had a great time. I purposely didn’t take any pictures-just tried to enjoy the trip (except I feel like it’s been a while since I wiped out that hard skiing. Ug)  But the water was perfect the weather was good, we weren’t in any kind of hurry it was great! Then at the end Seth wanted to “lay board” but Isaac kinda made him go by himself. It was awesome! He did great (and my arms weren’t dying, hooray) but he wanted a movie—so of course I went for it-and hid a pic too. Should’ve known I couldn’t hold off 😉 If he’ll do this a little more often maybe we can leave the tube home a little more often too. 👍🏻 it’s just big and kind of a pain.

High 5’n  the siblings on the back of the boat.

Anyway that’s about it, anyone reading this can  count your blessings that it’s too late and I’m too tired to rant about Stupid parent pick up and the wasted 80 minute of my life it is. I’m beyond frustrated with how ridiculous it is but…it’s a major rant, and I’m too tired…there’s a chance I’ll still be ranting about it next week.

Video still pending…

Good night!

Home sweet sticky humid home!

We made it home! (The best part of any vacation.) Last week when I figured out things weren’t going work in my normal blogging app-some how I uploaded some pics to Google photos and those are the ones I was able to add in the later post. I think I could’ve added them as I went if I’d done it one at a time…no thanks. Anyway I think that’s what I need to do-either get much better acquainted with Google photo or find a new blogging app…maybe both.

Anyway the Alpine slide pics from Friday did not make it on to Google photo so the did not make it on the blog yet, but hopefully I will play catch up one of these days. And Saturday all we did was pack up and leave….well that’s not true-first Isaac had to discuss his new energy drink “ambition” with any poor sucker willing to listen. I think everyone was actually having fun with the discussion but finally and thankfully Grandma said “we need to be out of here in 45 min” and then it turned into a pack up clean up tornado! But we made it, we pulled out at 9:59. Sigh!

And then that drive.

Shortest one ever from were we were only 17.5 hours, but it’s still so miserable. Any our kids were so screen drunk I told Isaac we were going to  detox from screens and  “we probably want to wait until after the drive” and so we did-driving all day 👎🏻 I much prefer some day-all night a little more day. But this was ALLLL day and then the night. We rolled in at 5:00. We pulled up the driveway Addi opened her eyes and said “oh Dangit we’re home” it was hilarious! But later she prayed she was thankful we were home… so who knows. Well I guess we know her instant reaction but still.

All our animals were here and seemed fine (phew that’s always a stress we pray for them the whole time we’re gone) but we got home caught a quick nap (much too short it was so hard to get myself up and much harder to get the sleeping kids back up) and then we headed to church. Isaac had to go to both wards, and maybe he had an early meeting. I can’t remember, we for sure took two cars, well the truck and the car, the van was all tangled in electric fence from when we pulled up the driveway.  I feel like something crazy happened but I can’t remember what. Oh wait yeah-we always take bread but we’d been gone so I didn’t have any -except a 1/2 a loaf of whole wheat down in the freezer-it crossed my mind that it was there but I didn’t go right then and it was in the middle of trying to get kids up (which was not an easy task) anyway forgot all about it. Now to clarify no one has ever asked us to take bread we just do because Cannon is a teacher and helps prepare the sacrament and because my kids (except Addi) hate it when the sacrament is wheat bread. Well if we don’t take it, it’s homemade wheat bread that one of the other teachers brings. When it’s that the boys hesitantly take the sacrament and Addi delightfully says “yeah-my kind of bread” if it’s white bread she won’t even take it but…she’s 3 and I try to minimize complaints. Anyway here’s the catch though, the other teacher’s family was gone, so no bread-at all. So Bro Gannon had asked me who I thought could lead the music-he was like I’m not asking you unless you don’t tell me someone else, well right then the other Lyndi a very musical young woman in our ward walked in I was like oh she’d be perfect-done! Well as he turned to go ask her, that’s when he found out we had no bread (5 min before the meeting started) so his wife (who I minister to-but obviously not well making more work for her) ran home, at least they live closer than us, and got bread…wheat bread-out if the freezer- she was trying to nuke it and get back in time. All that is going on I know nothing about and Bro Gannon is announcing the opening song and I look over and the other Lyndi is just sitting there, so I look at him and point at myself and he nods and bingo-I’m the chorister…for one of those dang new songs that I’m sure is wonderful but I don’t know and I can’t sing and I just wish everyone there could have heard Brother McKay’s testimony the week before in my parents ward about the problem with tone deaf people who can’t read music and the new songs! I was feeling it.

Anyway…we sang the “rest song” before the sacrament and then Sis Gannon got back and saved the day and all was well…and about the time of the closing song I thought oh yeah…I had the thought about that 1/2 a list of bread in my freezer and I should have known the Pettit’s would be gone because she told me she found a different sub instead of her for the piano in primary.

Oh well.

Dang this is getting kinda wordy-maybe I better get the picture thing figured out. Hmm.

But the rest of Sunday was a wash, we were just so tired and off schedule. But Monday we put that repaired prop back on the boat and headed for the lake! Oh wait, determined to turn over a new leaf I went for a little jog that morning, puttered around but don’t let me kid ya we’re not work first people, we’re if they weathers good we’re going to the lake people, we ate an early lunch and went just before noon. But the “fixed” prop still vibrates. Ug…but Levi and Stacy had given us a new old ski to try out. I think we were both pretty excited. I went first…I think cuz Isaac wanted to drive and see what he thought of that prop that still vibrated and what not. But I couldn’t get up—I could barely get the dang ski on! Then I finally did get up and it was completely different. So squirly! But I settled in enough that Isaac didn’t think I looked squirly-but I felt it. Safe to say I’d never been to the edge of that other ski. WOW! And the spray was just so different and kept getting me the face???? I don’t know I got most of the way down the lake and then had him cut it-I was just SOOO TIRED! (Probably some from jogging that morning for the first time in a long time too) But I wanted to try to get up one more time just cuz it was such a struggle then do a short ride and be done. But my arms were already done, the rope pulled right through my hands and then I felt a pop-the binding came almost completely off that ski-so Isaac didn’t even get to try it yet. Bummer. So we filled the tanks and the boys started surfing but then the boat started to make a crazy clicking noise so Isaac was like ehhh you guys can each go once but then we better be done,  but then it stopped but we just weren’t sure so we made it a short lake trip and that was good because Cannon was home in plenty of time for football practice and we bought a new prop! Isaac was messaging the guy about it on the drive home.

We got Cann to practice and picked up the walkie talkies Seth won from the summer reading challenge at the library and we were home and ready to meet Ms Angel-Addi’s preschool teacher that stopped by. We have never had her for a teacher before, but I’ve heard great things so we’re pretty excited!

Tuesday I woke up Soooo sore-holy cow that new ski worked me over! But I still jogged over to Rizzy’s. It went fine but the rest of the day my hamstring just got tighter and tighter until by night that tight I was crippled. Ug-this getting old is for the birds. So much for my new leaf.

I took Cannon down to the High school to get the new password for his email so we can find out things like when football practice time changes. Coach Nesbitt walked in right behind us. Cannon didn’t say anything -except “hey Coach” to him- I was like “why didn’t you talk to him?” Because that was the other really big thing for us this week, Cannon started high school football, but he had a teachers quorum 80 mile bike ride and camp out this weekend. He just kept thinking I would get him out of it. Isaac was adamant that he go, I wasn’t going to go against Isaac I can see, and have two good example in our ward from this last year of young men who should have mission calls but are both playing college football (hopefully not instead…but it appears that way from the outside) but I know you can’t choose football choose football choose football all through high school and then magically choose God when it’s time to serve a mission. But I readily admit it was really hard for me to make him go on a bike ride, a temple trip-ok! Or if there was an apostle in town (it’s happened) you bet I’d have him miss a game for that. But a bike ride and camping trip after the last two camping trips he’s got rained on the whole. I don’t blame him at all for not wanting to go. And I’m still bitter almost 30 years later about having to go to a stupid YW fashion show when my friends all hiked the narrows. Isaac assures me it’s different, it’s a priesthood quorum priesthood responsibility thing. He says things of eternal consequence will happen. So I’m trusting him but still empathize with Cannon, not wanting to go —having to miss practice-not going to be eligible for the first game—it’s just tough.

We did get his new password and schedule and walked around to see where his classes where and when we were walking out Coach Nez was again right by the door but on the phone. So I stopped-waited for him to get off the phone and I talked to him. I told him Cannon had a “priesthood quorum activity”  and he was so kind and so gracious. Seriously couldn’t have gone better-he knew Cann wouldn’t have enough practices in (required by the state of Missouri) to be able to play in the first game—he also made sure I knew I wasn’t excused from the “mom’s practice” practice. He’s a good guy.

Anyway Wed all we had to do was get Cannon ready to go Thurs but we were still up trying to do that at 10:30🤯

He headed out on his 80 mile ride/camping trip Thurs morning. He did take his phone and text me at about 9:00 that they had only been at camp for about a 1/2 hour and that it was not his favorite day. I feel bad because the  new prop got here Thurs and while Cann was peddling and miserable (hopefully faking a good attitude 🤞🏻but I’m not sure) we put that new prop on and headed back to the lake!  (Well after Isaac’s meetings and we did check out the middle school with Colt and walk around to his classes.)

Isaac’s had meetings at work here and there all week and today they were all day so we’ve just laid low. The kid wished the pool was and option but it’s still green and I’m not sure I’m willing to tackle it—Again.

Google Photos…🤯
From Isaac’s phone: he had a few more but no more luck than I’m having with the pics we’re going to call it good with this one.
The Alpine slide collage
When Addi gets my phone (the one of Cann was such a cute grin I had to keep it…even with her finger in front of part of it)

I actually was t going to to take pics at the lake because they all look the sane but then Cann tried to spin and I grabbed the camera.
We’ve been playing a little Uno since we’ve been home. And today we busted out “Sleeping Queens”
Colt loves the lake the most and he’s the only one I don’t have a picture of. Sorry buddy.  But Tans doing great! He’s come a long way this summer!!

When I was up in the man lift-yeah! Scared of heights me! I thought I’ve gotta figure out the YouTube thing—because I usually do have story to tell! But they need to be “shorts” or something,  our weekly videos are great for the family record but they’re too boring and choppy,  and sometimes you really need the narrative-but I don’t like hearing myself so…who knows.  I still hope to get one of the regular old videos made here in the next couple days. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🤞🏻
