After last week this week seems uneventful-thank Heaven!

We went to the temple Saturday—Tanner wants to go back…if we can stop of the creamery again. 🀣  Colt was NOT happy in the moment he said he only likes to go with just our family but later he said Cannon did something…I don’t remember but that’s probably a blessing. You can’t tell in the group pic. But he’s literally the only person not smiling ☹️

Bruce and Kim specifically invited Isaac to join them so that’s kinda how the youth temple trip turned into a family temple trip.
We got there early though I went in before and did initiatories but it was pretty cool I just loved being in the temple, kinda feeling it, my boys were down stairs (or soon to be after I switched Isaac) but later I found out my mom, dad, and Aunt Laur were all in the St George temple that morning! Family temple day indeed!

I always like snagging temple pics!

And I found my friend Pam Anderson (from girls camp 2018) hanging out with her grandkids at the park! It was fun!

Sunday—just kept my primary kids singing Gethsemane. Wow! I’ve always liked that song but I had know idea how impactful it is for the kids to sing it and know it and mean it. It’s been pretty cool even if it was because we have to sing in sacrament mtg. Oh and it was ward conf-so the stake was there and…I think they make me nervous because I was sweating like a pig! Yikes. Oh well!

Cute Addi—not sure how Cann talked her out of her red dress…

We did eventually finish that bathroom πŸ‘πŸ»

What else…I guess me’n my little helper planted a few things and mulched the apple trees.

And we rode over to the cemetery to much sure the deer are leaving our tulips alone. So far so good.

Tanner had Soccer on Thursday-he scored 2 goals!
And we have a tennis player…
It was so windy and cold!

The short report on the week is that we got the new manlift and I didn’t burn the house down but let’s get to the stories…

Isaacs trip was long and miserable…only one Real disaster where a chain that he had secured a different way than normal. —because some old timer told him he’d like to do it that way— He should’ve stuck with what he knew because It came loose and wrapped around his tire and it blew on the freeway . (He said the black puff of smoke was pretty impressive….😳)

Overall, when he got home and The next morning, he was all exhausted and wore out And he said “Hopefully, I’ll learn”

To be honest… I’m very doubtful that he will learn…the next time a good deal comes along. He’s not gonna care if it’s 10 hours away and he’s not gonna remember that 10 Always turns to 12 or more and then 18 back. (I just made those numbers up, but the point is valid)

But he did get a great deal on a good machine and it’s so weird that he bought a machine that actually works! To fire it up all they have to do is put gas in it. To say that is rare for something Isaac purchased would be a massive understatement. (I did write that before I saw it leaking hydrologic fluid like crazy.😬)

A little “home made rolo” project to top the day off.  If we’d used decent chocolate they would have been delicious!

Sunday, Isaac and Colton spoke in Macon and I can’t remember anything else too exciting from the day. Except it snowed. Not exciting and dang cold. πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

Monday, Isaac had to be back to school, but the kids still had it off because it was one of those professional development days for the teachers, it was awful because it was freezing cold. I don’t know “feels like” -8° because the wind was howling or something.

Isaac was trying to get things ready for his garage door project and ended up having a giant c-clamp fall on his head! He said it hurt pretty bad. His ear probably saved him.

Tuesday the kids went back to school so that was good. I love to have a home but I love to have them go back to school too. 😊

Mom fail in that I forgot it was St Patrick’s day—the next day Seth asked if there was a specific color he was supposed to wear-I said “not that I know of” and he said “well yesterday I was supposed to wear green” oh whoops-sorry buddy. And Colt who where’s green pretty much every day didnt wear any that day. 🀣

Isaac had some Amish guys come help him put the garage doors on so he was outside just a working away while I was inside Puttering around: laundry, dishes, the usual… I look out the window and see this…not quite going to fit…

And I was making some granola. We’ve been making this homemade granola lately and we love it! So it needed to cook for 12 more minutes and I was just going to run jump in the shower and I let Addi watch the tablet.

Oh wait I guess the first part of the story is Tuesday morning. I was just trying to be nice to those seminary kids because they had to get up and go to class again after having last week off for spring break, so I got up extra early and made a cinnamon swirl cake for them and I also made one for our family. The one for our family I had stashed in the microwave so I didn’t eat the whole thing.

OK now back to the granola it needed to cook so I just set the microwave timer (or so I thought) pushed the 12 minutes and walked away.  In the shower I could smell a little bit of cinnamon and it smell kind of burnt so I rationalize that maybe I had spilled some of that granola in the oven,  it has cinnamon in it. Maybe I spilled when I was stirring it …wait I don’t think I stirred it in the oven this time…my mind was just spinning.  Maybe I was just crazy and it was just smoke from the fire downstairs that I could smell…so I got the shampoo washed out of my hair —the smell did speed me up in the shower, but I didn’t really like smell one sniff and go sprinting out to see what was going on… Probably should have!!  Anyway by time I get out get a towel on (usually at my house who cares if you run around in a towel  but Isaac had workers there so I didn’t want to, but I sneak out to  go check to see what was going on with just a towel on and I came around the corner and the kitchen and dining rooms are full of smoke- I heard the microwave quickly pulled it open and the smoke just billowed out of it. I slammed in shut then ran for clothes. I had turned the microwave on instead of just a timer so that cinnamon swirl cake with an aluminum pan and a metal spatula had been in the microwave cooking and burning for 10 minutes!  It was awful. It was a disaster. I’m trying to throw windows open and turn fans on while it’s 10° outside. It might’ve been 15° by then, but just so cold.

Disaster.

I am so thankful and just grateful that I didn’t burn the house down and I think it was probably close. I although think it was a tithing blessing that I didn’t. No proof but…sometimes you just know.

Oh it was so stinky!  And everything smelled like it! One funny thing was Addi’s s teacher got her coat out of her backpack and she was like “it smells like burnt popcorn” I had told the other teacher the story and so she just laughed filled her in and when I got back to pick her up, they were like hey have you been shopping for a new microwave?

On a better note—how bout the garage door?!?!

That frigid day we volunteered at the St Patrick’s day 5k. It was so cold. I kept thinking “no good deed goes unpunished”

And the next day was beautiful. In the 60’s. Missouri weather🀯 Addi and I took a picnic to a park after we bought a new microwave!

Which I later returned and had Isaac grab a different one. The other microwave miraculously still worked but the smell…I had no hope for it actually going away-new filters or not. And it was all stained yellow inside. I told Isaac “Look, I’m terrible at saying what I want” (True! He would spoil me IF I could articulate what I want, but I’m not good at that and he has no interest in guessing or trying to figure it out) but I said “I want a knew microwave” and he said “good” but thought I should go with what I liked instead of just the cheapest one… So it was actually his fault that I returned the first one I bought and I’m so thankful it would’ve looked terrible!

He brought it home Wednesday after children and youth activities and… Put it in that night!! I was so tired. I just wanted to go to bed, but I tried to be a cooperative assistant since the whole deal was my fault!

The most Isaac thing ever though…he didn’t want to get rid of the old one…he might want to use it in his shop. Have mercy. Ridiculous!! Seth comes by his trash collecting (which has become kindof the joke of parent pickup and his classroom teacher) naturally.  Sigh! I love him.

Tanner explaining what happened at Dinner…
I’m not sure why he wrote it down but…
Translation:
At dinner Seth and Addi got in a giant fight because I told Seth to take off his [shoes] but naturally Seth refused so Addi tried to help and it ended up Seth saying Addi is Addi is and he meant Addi a jerk and Addi kept saying Seth is but she ended up saying stop it! So I think it really got to her I was going to give Addi a treat if she ate faster and Addi didn’t there was no way (and he didn’t finish writing I was going to give Seth one)

Seth tried to kick me and acted like a smart alick the whole time, but it’s 5:24 so…

And Thursday Isaac was my project man, he started small but I had told him I hate the mold I can’t get off in this tub and…he tore into it. And it was gross
And where still not done….
It dang late and I’m dang tired so I’m sure there’s more but that’s all I’ve got for now!

I think we better count that Puerto Rico trip as the Ison Family spring break. Cannon and Isaac went down to the big 12 tournament on Tuesday but other than that we’ve done pretty much nothing all week. 😬

I don’t have a single picture from last Saturday— but something really cool did happen when Isaac and I went to our friends kids baptism. Our kids didn’t come with us  because Seth was sick and a brother had to stay home with him and then Addi didn’t want to go so anyways we didn’t make the kids come but Cannon had tennis so we took Cannon down to tennis and then we went to this baptism for Joseph Boster. Afterward Cannon wanted to show me how close he is to getting rim and Elder McCune (Joseph’s Grandpa) was just standing right there in the corner of the gym and all the sudden I remembered I had a question! When Elder Cuvelier was here he had told us about when the seventies meet with the quorum of the twelve apostles and the first presidency-and they partake of the sacrament. Maybe it’s just because I have Aaronic priesthood holders, but I was curious who blesses and passes. The short answer is someone is called on to, But he didn’t give us the short answer he told us all about it-they all go fasting-it is a testimony meeting- it’s in a temple space- just so neat! It was so fun. So  cool to learn from him, ask whatever questions we wanted Isaac and I both were there and he talked to Cann too and told him he had “pretty good springs” It was just really neat. Definitely the highlight of the day.

Other than that, I did my refresher training course to coach soccer, so here we go again on that.

Sunday Seth was still sick so I went at 9 then came home early and Isaac brought the troops later. Paw Patrol tended during the overlap and honestly Seth couldn’t have cared less that I hurried home. He would’ve been content for hours. And I’m thankful we live out here where we do, it makes things like that pretty low stress. I did make him turn the tv off though so we played a LOT -felt like hundreds of games- of Uno.

The other really cool thing that happened on Sunday was I was kinda feeling the family history thing -it was Rootstech but I only watched a tiny bit- but I decided to grab my Grandmas old journal that I have. I flipped it open and decided since it was March 8th, I’d look for a March 8 that she wrote-or at least sometime close. Well sure enough there was a March 8, 1985. And while she started out talking about mundane things like doing wash and taxes it was an incredibly significant day!! It was the day she did my Aunt Patti’s temple work. So cool. So I took a picture-and typed it up too and put it in on FamilySearch.

Just barely putting it in here I saw a typo and realized I couldn’t edit. Apparently I was Cannon when I uploaded—whoops— had to be Cannon to do the compare-a-face stuff Addi and I were messing with last week.

Anyway then I ended up putting kindof a lot of stuff in the memories section of family search, obituaries for my dad’s cousin, his wife, and kid that have all passed away. And a little life sketch Aunt Grace wrote about her mom, I learned a tone. Those old-timers were tough, they dealt with so much heartache. Ug!

And apparently someone was feeling better if I found several pics like this on my phone. Great news!

Monday it was beautiful! Spring beak-yes please!

Hot dogs, applesauce, and roasted marshmallows for lunch! Let’s do it!

Battle wound…after the second time it happened he decided to show the stick who was boss and cut it down. Even Cannon played outside with them but then there was some ridiculous betting going on and “if you don’t want to pay up jump in that water in your underwear” I was NOT amused. But I’m just the mom.
I went to the cemetery so far the tulips are surviving but…I was too late getting the cardboard down and it’s not deteriorated enough to let things through 😞. I loved Rizzy’s mini daffodils -no sign of them. Caleb had a couple full sized daffodils though. Riz had One single crocus. A couple snow drops on the outside edges of the cardboard. Just a bummer. I’m kicking myself!

Tuesday was the much anticipated Big 12 tournament.

Red arrow on upper right points to Cann. Cannon got to shake Andy Reid’s hand. (But they didn’t take a picture?!?! I Guess he said “how ya do’n red head?” to Cann (Cann’s not even red compared to Colt and Tan but there’s a little in there) Cannon said “Good” and told him he liked his shirt-it was a typical Andy Hawaiian shirt, and Andy said “it’s got a little BYU blue in there” the next two night Andy was on the Bench (in true BYU gear) so it was good they went the first night. Cannon wanted to go back both other times they played but I wasn’t up for the drive and Isaac had other things he wanted to get done. Maybe if the other kids liked it too but…
Anyway they went down early and dropped our boat props off. They went to the auction until they got kicked out cuz Cannon isn’t 18.  They had fun though and lasted an hour and a half or so.
They killed some time at a money museum at the Federal Reserve building before the game too.
Then they stayed for part of the game after BYU and went down and touched the LED screen floor and I guess Cann got to shake Kevin Young’s hand then too-or high five him or something. They had a lot of fun. And then had to drive 20 min the wrong direction to get the boats props before heading home. They were driving into and out of that storm that was producing tornados. (Not here but still Yikes!)  I don’t know what time they finally got home but they had a great day.
Around here we went to Menards for “fun” but it was pretty lame. They still didn’t have any plants we’d want for Rizzy’s grave. We did buy everyone a treat though. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹
Check out these pics and wonder my nerves were SHOT…

And it was just so dang cold. 80° Monday 40° with the wind blowing Tuesday it felt even colder. We were obviously dressed for Mondays weather.
Wednesday One of my excuses for not taking Cannon down to the next game was he had an orthodontist appointment but it ended up being a circus. We thought he had a broken bracket, but it was really just a broken wire. I thought his appointment was in Columbia, And it originally was scheduled in Columbia but for next week not this week, it was a fiasco but it  all worked out great because they got him in in Kirksville and I didn’t have to drive to Columbia. The kids (especially Seth)  had wanted to go to Columbia to Sky Zone and do the indoor trampoline park for spring break but the one in Columbia is closed. I was so glad we looked before we went All the way down there!

Helping Dad!
Wednesday while we were at the orthodontist, I got a text of a picture of a man lift. I rep replied with a question. “Are we the new owners?” He said yes so… It didn’t take him long to buy another one of those!!! Wednesday night we were laying in bed and he said I think I need to leave to go get that tomorrow.
What 😳, But I agreed with him because if he waits until  next week, then he has work, It was 10 hours away, so he just wanted to be there early Friday before they’re gone for the weekend and he can’t get it. Anyway… Classic Isaac!
I went to the temple Thursday morning because that was kind of the only chance had… The bad part was that I took his wallet with me-whoops! I left his keys-They didn’t do any good without his wallet. But he puttered  around with his truck pretty much all day and then finally took off Thursday evening. He’s not back yet, but last I talked to him he was in St. Louis so he should get home sometime in the middle of the night.
Here she is, it’s massive!!! And excluding the cost of the trip to go get it (who knows how much that is???) but without that he bought it for less than he sold the other one for so…sweet!
I don’t know what else?
Surviving (or not maybe we should ask Tan…) around here

This is a week or so old but they made their own video playing with the paw patrol toys I’m supposed to put it on YouTube for them …(but it was painful but I watched all 16 minutes) so far I’ve forgotten πŸ˜‰  but this pic was at the end when it asked people to “like & subscribe” 🀣
I love the pic! Easily the best part of the movie!

I think that’s it…

I feel like that week went fast…but I don’t think we really did anything…

This is silly but…this is why I love new toys—everyone gets in on it!

I really can’t remember much…and that’s the only picture I took.

Sunday Isaac had some help driving home.

Again, the only picture I took🀷🏻‍♀️ it’s been a bit of a slow week in the picture dept.
I don’t know how much of Sunday these guys were out of water for, but they were waiting for me Monday morning!

He bought that float valve and I thought it worked great I’m not sure why we’re not still using it??? I’m not in on decisions regarding animals -I just end up being the one that feeds them and waters them😏…🀯

And Cannon started tennis!

Which I think he’s really going to enjoy, but we’ve had my friend’s top spin trainer for four months. He got it out Monday. We both like athletics, but we’re very different as athletes! And that’s OK!  My goals for him have more to do with having a testimony of Jesus Christ, being a worthy priesthood holder, and just being a good young man more than anything athletic. But I do think he could be pretty good at tennis if he’ll try! I love that it’s non-contact (so no excuse to pound on his brothers) and that’s it’s individual—no standing around watching/cheering he has to be the one to get it done-or not. The coach is super laid back-which is a nice change. Safe to say I’m a lot different in what I like as a parent than I what I liked as a coach.
Anyway
Wednesday night we went to the homeschool play. They did a good job. They put a ton of work into it. I felt like it was a good opportunity for some kids that are really shy to  have to get out of their comfort zones a little bit. But overall, I really struggled with it. I don’t like homeschool, I feel like it’s pushed on us from the church side of things here, I don’t think it should be called “Kirksville 1st and 2nd Ward homeschool group” and I don’t like that it replaced the youth activities (Unless they’re gonna do that for the kids that were in the high school play too— There were 3 of them when I went last fall) ultimately I let our kids choose whether the wanted to go or not.. And they all chose to go! What?! They are better people than me, but we knew that. And it was good to support the primary kids that I do singing time with. Anyway—enough of my rant, and besides now if someday I end up doing homeschool I’ll have to eat crow.
What else?
Me’n Addi might not be Isaac’s best helpers…but we’re the most willing!
Can you tell how high I had to be to take this picture?!?!

He’s trying to get ready for the garage door because Menards is sick of storing it for him. And he  decided he’s sick of that man lift so he sold it today. And he’ll buy another one that is all-terrain which is what we probably should’ve went with in the first place, but he thought he could make this one work and he did. It’s  just been kind of a pain in the rear.

Tanners music and art program was this week. His friends talked him into wearing his suit-that wasn’t me. But he got lots of compliments.

What was really going on during the program:

And today my little Seth-a-roo has been under the weather 😞
Poor guy, but that meant Addi had a buddy to play with. πŸ‘πŸ»

I don’t know what else. We had the missionaries over tonight and one is super brand new (3 days in and she got a dose of the Ison’s) but we like her and we love the one that stayed so yay for good missionaries!
I’m ready to be done with the youth t-shirt project I got myself into but…instead I got one single shirt done😏
And I’ve been listening to the Big12 Women’s basketball tournament—we talked about going down to it and watching my parents neighbor play, but we never pulled the trigger, it was just going to be a pain, although Cannon and Isaac will probably  catch at least one game at the men’s tournament next week. We’ll see.
Hopefully we all find something fun to do for spring break, if not can we count Puerto Rico? πŸ˜‰ just kidding, but Addi does tell me every day she wants to go back.

Addi and I were messing around on family search compare a face—Seth is still proof I actually have genes.
