I have a billion pics but this is the ONLY one before Thursday--that parts unusual.
Its been a busy week just not the photographed kind. Primary Program. Mouse in the outside pantry.Yikes. What a week.
Saturday started out rough! Way rough! Well first I guess I could go back to Friday night, Friday night I sent my dad a text that was like Eh I'm not going to come, its a lot of stress, I don't think we'd be much help bla bla bla. But in the middle of typing that text I got a text from my mom to just he and I, that indicated said more trouble with her dang surgery. So at the bottom of his text I wrote "*&^% I just got her text." I ended up calling him. We chatted while he drove back over. Then he got to the hospital and hung up and I sat up, and stewed. Finally I just bought tickets, for the next Friday though, it felt good, like I had done the right thing. I maintain it wouldn't have done a bit of good for us to go while she was in the hospital. So that's what we're up to, now but back to Saturday: Fights and Antagonizing galore! I yelled in frustration at Cannon "This is why I can't take you with me!" But I had already bought him a ticket. Later that morning we went down to the church to make copies of the primary program. It was more naughtiness and crazy behavior, when we were leaving he was hiding behind a bush I said "I see you, come on." He turned and ran the other way, Colt of course followed him, and when I set Tanner down to empty my hands and open the door he darted out into the middle of the parking lot too--just trying to keep up with his brothers. The conversation in the car on the way home was something like "Why would I want to take you with me?" And Cannon said "Do you want me to take me?" I said of course I would if I wasn't confident that make traveling difficult by not listening and running around like a crazy man and then there was the issue of fighting with Colton. Anyway, he sat for a minute (while I carried on) and then from the back seat I heard a wise little boy say "I can change." It was a great statement and he's always teaching me lessons but I realized I can change too, how I handle it, how frustrated I get--and so on. I thought on that.
Sunday we survived the Primary Program. It went SOOOOO long, thats all on me too. I hate it when church goes long. Oh boy, we were like a 1/2 hour over. I swear we timed it and it was only 40 minutes, so I thought when it was the real deal we'd go blowing through it. Wrong. I had my counselor take a long time introducing it. Whoops. And I didn't account for the baby blessing, (it was her baby and it was a really cool part of "Primary Sunday") We just needed to end sooner. We had at least 5 kids 3 of them older kids that had written little talks that weren't there when we were practicing...that's pretty significant out of a primary of 40. Anyway, it was good the kids did great, it was just too long. Way too long. Sunday night some friends invited us over for dinner. (That saved Isaac from having cold cereal.) It was SO fun, we had a great time. James is from Price but has lots of family in Huntington and so Isaac had a great time visiting and so did I. We have really great friends in Kirksville. I do love that about it. Monday...Tuesday...Wednesday... I have no idea what happened or what we did~I don't know when, it might have been last week, (did I already write about it?) but I know I saw a mouse out in the garage with my own two eyes. If you think I screamed...no it was more of a gasp. If you think I swore...you'd be right! So we dealt with rearranging our pantry situation, moving it inside and such. Throwing stuff away, setting mouse traps. And then just regular Lots of laundry--the usual. Oh but Monday Cannon was SO tired. I didn't know if it was from playing so hard with Denton and Cohen the night before, or if he was up a big chunk of the night but he was so tired and SO hard to get off to school. Thankfully Isaac was there to help. But Cannon wouldn't do anything, wouldn't get dressed wouldn't eat and I just realized, I can't take him. Its not just the fighting with brothers it will just be too hard. So when we were (finally) walking down to the bus stop I said "Hey bud, what if you stayed with dad and I see if Ms. Cassie can pick you up after school?" He thought that sounded awesome, and I checked with Cassie and Isaac I said "If I leave him its going to be so much more work for you." To which he replied "No its not." He's crazy. But he was good and Cassie and Michaila were good to help me out after school. So my heart sunk a little and all week I tried to emphasize that it wasn't because he was in trouble (although I'd threatened it Saturday-whoops) but it wasn't a normal trip, Grama was sick, he'd have more fun at home and so on. Really it probably helped my relationship with Cannon because I grasped the concept of "Oh crud, I'm leaving him." But he didn't really get it. So I was a little more patient with his antics. Anyway so originally I bought one way tickets, we would stay as long as we needed but leaving Cannon, I HAD to know when I was going back so Monday I bought tickets we rearranged plans as far as leaving the van at the Thatchers instead Isaac drove it back and Tanner Colt and I will fly. Anyway Wednesday we packed up. Thursday afterschool we headed for STL to watch the Cubs and Cardinals. We were hoping the game would still have meaning but the Cubs actually clinched the night before. We were a little late getting out of town but we go there by the bottom of the third inning. (The boys have both Cubs and Cards jerseys --and it was even sport day for spirit week at Colts school-- but they didn't want to wear them. Probably a good thing though--it left us a little more neutral as fans ;)

The above pics is the first place we stopped...it didn't take long for the workers to freak out about Cannon standing up like that. So we got him down and went wandering for seats. Of course we never graced those nose bleed seats with our presence. We went to the first base side (thinking we were going to the Cubs side...but I didn't know the Cards used the first base side--shows ya how much of a fan I am right?) Anyway we didn't really care-but we would have had more seat options on the visiting side, but we found some seats. Wrestled the kids. Isaac was pretty much best friends with the orthodontist he was sitting next to by the end of the night. We had fun...it was a good game, although I'd say we actually watched very little baseball! That's what happens when you bring kids I guess.
Tanner LOVED IT. I'm telling you, he's my little ball player. Every time the crown would cheer he'd get so excited. The big boys might have been better off in the nosebleeds with room to run around. I did take in sour worms though that I passed out every inning. It bought us some paying attention.
After nine innings the game was tied, so we got o make up for missing the first few with a few extras. Sweet. AND it was a work night so after nine--on a meaningless game. The place emptied out quite a bit. Isaac got me to go down closer on the promise of "Better Pictures" Ha
We got to our "field side" seats just in time to see the Cubs get a go ahead run! In the bottom half of the inning with two out the Cardinals hit a ball to tie it back up but the Cubs center fielder robbed the home run. It was pretty dang sweet. The whole stadium, what was left anyway errupted right off the bat, but then totally deflated when he game down with that ball. It was a fantastic catch--he got a great jump. So it was a fun game even if it was as the radio guys said "The Cubs JV team" ...4 catchers in the starting line up. But I don't follow it closely enough to know anyone anymore anyways. So it was just a good time. The next collage is a little crazy but on bottom you have the guy that hit the RBI rounding first. Then on top some Cubs fans flying the W (I wanted to take a picture with my boys in front of it but I didn't) and Isaac taking Tanner (using the kids HAHA) trying to get a broken bat. We didn't get a bat...but the Tanner cuteness got'm a ball!!!
We stood there forever! And we got a field level pic. But Isaac is not one to give up. And it was pretty cool when that security guy pointed at Isaac, then Cannon and tossed him a ball. We were there so long it we were some of the last ones out. The empty stadium is actually pretty impressive too!
Then it was dinner (late--sooo late, but I'd packed sandwiches and stuff for on the way down) and back to the hotel. We stayed a little ways out of STL just play'n it safe. The boys LOVE staying in a hotel they get so excited we couldn't get them to go to sleep. Then, Isaac couldn't even get them to go swimming the next morning. They were on cloud 9 just watching Paw Patrol. Friday morning we hit the Zoo with the Thatches. It was great to see Natalie and get to catch up a little bit. We had a great time. The only problem with our great friends in Kirksville is they end up moving. Friendships last though--I'm thankful for that!
After the zoo we grabbed some lunch and headed for the airport. It was fine until we got there, then it was awful.
Saying goodbye to Cannon while he's bawling his eyes out begging to go with me begging to for me to come back sooner.
Hell.
Hell.
Hell.
It would be the one way, he's like me. I don't do goodbyes either! Isaac was like ok--see ya. Love ya. Have fun. I just held Cannon and cried with him while he cried. Oh his big blue tear filled eyes. So sad. Then walking in to the airport Colt started crying too. "I just wanted Cannon to come, I want him to be happy." But we got through security got distracted by all the signs for attractions in STL airport it actually. The boys wanted pictures in front of every one of them. HA. That's my kind of being a tourist guys! I do love the airports that have a play place for the kids though! That was NICE! This one is set up like a little mini airport. The boys had a blast.
The VERY best thing came while we were sitting there playing in the play place I got this text from Isaac that said "He says its the best shake he's ever had in his life." Oh it was so good for my heart to see him smiling. And out of sight out of mind? That's my Cann Man!
Cannon really is my best traveler. I was missing him when neither Colton or Tanner slept a wink on the plane. But we made it to Vegas (bought the boys some milk) and things were good.
Until we got our luggage that is. Holy nightmare. Colt had a complete meltdown. I think it was actually because he was SO hungry and SO tired that once he got the milk in him, it was like one need was met and he wanted the other one met NOW!!! Oh it was a disaster. We just rode the shuttle up to St George (pretty slick except that I had to take car seats --next time we'll take my mom's car seats over to the shuttle office and they'll haul them down...live and learn) But you can see in the pic what my load was like me, caring Tanner and the backpack pulling the suitcase with 2 car seats balanced...tied...just on it the best I could rig it up. It was an awful time for a melt down. And I was less than calm kind or compassionate when he melted down and started screaming/crying "I just want you mom." Seriously the only way we even made it to the inter terminal shuttle was I set Tanner down and he walked (he wanders all over--it was no picnic) and I carried Colt until I really just couldn't anymore he was too heavy. And Tanner loved being the "Big Boy" Colt was so far gone into the meltdown nothing mattered. Anyway, we had one more meltdown on the shuttle--embarrassing- but oh well. And a major one when Grampa loaded him in the car, it lasted the whole way home. So we're her at Grama and Grampas, (not a single pic...guess that tells you how tired everyone was last night) Colt finally got some sleep (new kid) I'm really glad we came. As Hellish of a travel day as it was yesterday and saying goodbye to Cannon I think we did the right thing, he will have more fun there. Its not a normal trip. Grama is getting better but she's not great yet and we are happy to be her to help babysit her.
I think that it.
I think we're caught up.
I think we're caught up.
