Not the best week

πŸ‘ŽπŸ»
Saturday was busy. I had RS then we had to clean the church then we were late for the baptism Isaac was conducting oh and the baby shower at the church in the middle off all of that was for the gal I minister to’s grandson. Whoops!
But that was just chaos-not that bad.
Sunday morning Isaac took off early and I got the kids loaded up-almost late-only to have to go back in because 2 of them didn’t have coats (in the 5 degree weather), and then I was turning off lights, grabbing pop tarts they had planned to eat in the car-and I run back out. Jumped in the van—threw it in reverse cranked the wheel so when I headed down I would grab new snow with my front tires and CRUNCH! I slammed right into the broke down skid steer-same one that had been there in plain sight for 4 days-and same one Isaac had warned me to be careful of at least 3 times. Ug.
And grab new snow nothing-I wasn’t going anywhere.
I called him.
He said to just drive the truck.
I didn’t want to drive anything but he was supposed to present names for his high council calling so he couldn’t come get us. So we piled in the truck and we were late. Isaac didn’t present the names until the end anyway???
But it was a cruddy morning.
It really only ruined the bumper—pretty amazing it sounded worse than that.
Isaac wasn’t near as mad about it as me-even though he warned me several times.

When he came home he said “The cost is worth it if I learn to be more careful.” …I think he was trying to be positive…I didn’t love that comment though. I would say something more like it would be worth it if I could learn to separate stupid things I do from who I am as a person.
Eh it sounds easy when I type it up but…
It totally ruined the day!
We still limped through some kids interviews.
And Cannon talked Isaac into watching most of the Chiefs game. Tanner cannot handle the emotional ups and downs of a ballgame…but “you can’t do anything about it” comments I made to him kinda helped me put the wreck in perspective—or at least know it should have.
Anyway that night we went to bed thinking they were finally going back to school.
I got up Monday morning-had lunches made-Isaac was going to take Cannon in because of the roads and he came in from starting the car as asked if I’d heard anything from the schools, I said “no” and he said there was a “layer of ice on the car” then right before the walked out the door

Hmm ok—I guess we’ll go back to bed.
And this is what the did in the house all day long

When I tell them not to I get this:

And when I kick them outside…

🀷‍♀️

Snow day or not it was so much warmer (30’s) than last week we all did get outside…but the stupid horse is just too friendly-he was driving us crazy!

They did finally go back to school on Tues-late start.  And Isaac took the and they did get stuck-mostly because someone else had so they had to stop and push him out then he came back and helped push them out. (I was so thankful Isaac took them!)
Cannon got to scrimmage Noah’s team in basketball with some of his buddies-then he talked me into going to the varsity game after. Wednesday was children and youth and stuff and somewhere in there I realized my new phone has a crack in the screen. πŸ‘ŽπŸ» I have no idea what or when it happened-it’s not bad-yet-but still a bummer!  so the pictures have slowed …I need to be careful so I just don’t  have it handy as much. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise…
But I did have it for this

He’s worried about rust so we came home to him laying on a tarp (mostly) in the snow spraying off the undercarriage.

Left my phone (and kids) unattended in the car and found these

Why?

More random:

And today’s the 26thπŸ‘ŽπŸ» I asked Isaac if the day bothers him at all and he said “I don’t keep track of days.” I knew that. So I told him we found out Riz had died on the 26th…
But look at this girls smile? I have a lot to be thankful for!!

I think that’s about it.
Oh but I did carve out one on one time with Cann Colt and Tanner this week—and Seth and Isaac got a little tonight so I felt like we were winning!!

“If we wanted to home school —we would”

Today’s blog title is how Isaac responded when I told him school was canceled… Again, I think it was Tuesday! 🀣
πŸ₯ΆπŸ₯ΆπŸ₯Ά
It’s been a cold week! They were out last Friday and then it was just bitter cold over the weekend, as in feels like -25 and stuff like that πŸ‘ŽπŸ» oh, but before I get ahead of myself, I better report on the game —they did go! And they had a blast!  It was Cannon‘s first taste of Isaac kind of just having a good time- matching the drunk guys yell for yell - that type of thing. (My first experience was the Bellamy Brothers concert in Mesquite in the dating days) Anyways, Cannon’s feet got cold but other than that they just had a great time and the Chiefs rolled so that was fun and they just kind of worked their way down by the end they were high five’n the mascot —good times.

But in all of that cold the rest of us didn’t leave the house! I sat on my tail-snapped screen shots (obviously) -and watched BYU blow a decent lead and barely hang on for their first Big XII win. Bribed the kids with their own preferred screen time for that and then my plan was and endless supply of popcorn while we watched the game from the warmth of the farmhouse…but we didn’t get the game so we settled for jeopardy. Hmm, the kids that were home probably enjoyed it just as much. And who knows when they got home but Isaac crawled into bed and snuggled right up to me. πŸ₯Ά Snuggle with a popsicle? No thank you! Whether he had fun or not he was frozen clear though and he just kept reaching for me and I just kept scooting away.  It was a miserable nights “sleep” and I was a little grouchy about it the next morning 🀷‍♀️

Sunday, We went to church so I  did leave the house-but only that once -and he did the driving!
It was so dang cold. -17 when we got up (don’t even want to know the “feels like” temp and think it was up one degree or so driving in-crazy cold)
Monday they were out of school for MLK day.
The snow days when we got out and played in it were great, but since the cold has hit  the days where we’re all stuck inside and they fight all day. Not so good.
So Monday night after the 4 day weekend we got the text that Tuesday was canceled too. Ug! (They had HVAC issues and also a pipe burst in Colts classroom.)
They did go to school Wednesday and Thursday but this morning at 5:05 I was up making lunches about to wake Cannon up so I could take him to early morning weights and I got another text that said it was canceled again today too— do our kids even go to school???? I put the sandwiches in the fridge and crawled back in bed but I decided I might as well Just be happy for them because it is fun for them to not have to go to school. (I still  dread the fights-just trying not to focus on them-think it helped to have a positive attitudeπŸ˜‰)
So that’s what the week summary is but now I better see if there’s any pictures to remind me of any other good stories…
Oh yeah we zoomed Madi reporting her mission—my favorite part was as she was talking Tanner said “this is like the best conference talk ever!” It was awesome and so cute but then he took off and didn’t even listen to the rest…hmm
My 2nd favorite part was trying to get a screenshot of her with Bishop Ison looking-annnd smiling- at her. It was tricky and we were cracking up!
See this girl…the problem is that's my bed and it’s  exactly where she likes to sleep!

We were letting her sleep in the twin bed in her room and she got new horse sheets for it for Christmas (That was Isaac’s idea but she’s had fun with them so it was a good idea) But she quit crying out at night,  instead, she’d just wake up and toddle her a little tail right in our room and crawl up on OUR bed and then push us out.
So we’ve had the hard task of trying to get her to tough it out in the crib this week…when it works well it’s amazing, …when it doesn’t I sleep on the hard  floor with my hand in her crib trying to keep her there but calm her  down 😏 so it’s a disaster and I’d rather she was just in my bed and that I was actually getting to sleep…
We’ll see…she’s getting better 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻 I hope.

Enough hair for a bow!! She says thumbs down πŸ‘ŽπŸ»
🀣🀣🀣

But Danish dessert from the pan or licking the ranch off her plate??? Yes please!

Sharing dad’s shoes with Colt! And coloring pages for everyone! It might be my version of home school πŸ˜‰πŸ€”

We had a little bonk 😞 I guess she fell off the motorcycle downstairs… or something! Seth he came running upstairs to tell me she was hurt, but I was on the phone and Isaac had it taken care of it when I got to her…
It’s a pretty good goose egg though —poor little thing!

And just tonight while I was blogging, I got the new family pictures back from Grandma Ison:

Check out floating Addi… Isaac had to hold her and duck behind the picture. You can see his leg on the bottom right.
I am happy we will be updated on her wall!
Good stuff
See ya next week.

A snowy week!

We left after Christmas and there was green grass and we came back to winter.
We made it back in time for one of the basketball games but Tanner wasn’t feeling like playing (and seriously that kid is so ornery lately I figured it was probably for the best that we just had naps…oh man, it feels so good to lay flat after sleeping in the car!)
So Saturday was a wash—I think I probably bought groceries but not much else!
Monday we got the boys off to school and I don’t know what  we did…but these two appear to be having fun.

And with a snow day pending the brothers were pretty happy when they got home, not bad only going to one day of school.

She’s a character!

We got the message that school really was canceled about about 6:00.
A snow day-on Tuesday-in January. I just looked up at Isaac and told him in made my guts churn. It was a Tuesday snow day when we found out Riz died. So I did a little shopping. It doesn’t really help but…oh well-I like to shop.
The kids did a great job of playing outside.

Sis went out with Isaac Monday night and froze her tail off—so she had no interest in going out with the boys! (I was fine with that.) but they made her a snow cone too—so she was happy!

Wednesday the schools were still closed so we were in for round two.
Bristol came over and they played out in then snow until dark! (Except lunch and the driveway shoveling service project Isaac roped them into πŸ˜‰)
Ray sent me this picture. I actually watched the whole episode out the window of when the horse got out. (As if fighting kids isn’t bad enough our stupid dog and horse pick at each other🀯) but the dog was barking at the horse and then ran off and the horse ran right through the (turned off) electric fence and out the driveway chasing her.
I’m glad Ray had me covered in the photo dept (I had started bundling Addi and I to try to help with the circus -Isaac had gone into work.)
And…At least they’ve figured out a way to solve it themselves:

Our attempt and Grama’s Hot Chocolate mix and my cute little helpers!

Thursday they went back to school…there are no pics on my phone but we went on an awesome lunch date! Colt had math team practice and when I picked him up he was so excited to go work on the snow fort

But I had errands and we ran out of daylight but…we turned it into a little kid date and bought new little shovels for them to dig with and I think he ended up being pretty happy with things.
Especially since today was ANOTHER snow day!
But honestly the road out to our house is one of the reasons why—they don’t get them plowed and they’re curved and slick!
Whatever we made a fun family day of it. I wish that were true-it’s sort of true! Tanner told us it was the worst day of his life this morning (but he says that pretty much every time something doesn’t go his way…I don’t even remember what didn’t go his way, Seth probably looked at him.) Colt was so excited to work on the snow fort but Isaac inadvertently burst his bubble because of how he made the entry and then changed it so he could get in and actually help—Colt couldn’t recover and sulked for half the day—it was like if it wasn’t one thing it was another all stinking day! But we did have a lot of fun mixed in too! Somehow Addi was willing to give it a go-and we did all pay in the snow! (Including the animals)

We had a good time sledding off the top of the fort but this afternoon when Colt had kinda shook off his funk and talked us into going back out was when it was really good! The snow had a little layer of ice that had froze on top then the wind blew some powdery stuff over it. Holy Cow-we were zipp’n it was pretty dang fun!

Dad and Addi stayed in for the second go round  but all 4 boys did fit in the fort!! (Thanks to dad and Cannon’s work earlier) but they all plugged away at it.

It was a good place to hide from the wind that was howling round two too!
It was cold and windy but it was fun-it was a little glimpse of the mom I wish I were more often-just playing with my kids!
Speaking of that wind though…Isaac read an article that said it is supposed to be super cold (like 0 degrees plus the wind chill)  at the Chiefs playoff game tomorrow so the tickets were cheaper than regular season games…and since it’s on Saturday instead of Sunday, and Cannon loves the Chiefs, and he’s “not afraid of the cold” he bought tickets. I AM afraid of the cold but I’m not the one going so I’m excited for them.
Mr Not afraid of the cold and I were going to slip out on a date and see if we could find him a chiefs beanie to wear to the game…(Cannon wanted to go all day) but I really don’t drive when it’s like this unless I HAVE to -I even canceled bball practice!-so Isaac and I were going to go, cause he’s not afraid to drive in it -oh but even he got stuck Tuesday,  I missed his call but someone else helped him out (it was the dad of a couple of my soccer playersπŸ‘πŸ») but back to tonight, he stepped outside and the wind was howling and he was like-never mind! It’s bitter cold out there why would we go out in that?  πŸ€£ so I think they’re going to the game…I guess time will tell! I walmart ordered them hand and foot and body warmers—hopefully they work!

Happy New Year

I’ve never been a huge fan of New Years but happy new year all the same.
Let’s see last I blogged we’d just got to St. George. There was some good—and some rough…
How positive can I keep the blog???
Saturday we met the Lingwall’s at the temple then walked up to the park—it was so fun to see them!

Sunday and Monday were a little rough but Grana has the best hot chocolate mix. (Actually the hotel later in the week had hot chocolate and Colt told me it was sub par after Grama’s…but it didn’t stop him from getting several cups full)

Hand gun safety with GrampaπŸ‘πŸ»

Fun up at the corrals—the kids had a blast!

Tuesday was our anniversary, I was super sick…”sleep” on the bathroom floor like I make my kids do sick. Ug! Isaac went riding motorcycles with his cousin. We did have a temple appt but that got vetoed.
Wednesday we headed north. We always love getting to see the Meacham’s!!! We took the kids to a trampoline park then went back to their house for dinner! (So nice and so yummy)

Santa Clara  vs with Sarah and Ryan

We had a great time and even had a little discussion about interaction…or lack thereof… I mentioned my opinion  that Isaac has a 1.5 day limit on Santa Clara. Isaac and some point said “that’s crazy especially when (unnamed person) really does hate his in-laws and is vocal about it…I do like your parents” but the best part was when he looked at Sarah and said “teach me Sarah!” Do we think she can? I mean a wife can hope!
From there we headed back to SLC! They put Grandma Ison’s hotel room right across from ours (thank you front desk lady) and we took advantage—it was great! A couple kids slept in her room-we had two TVs —it was fantastic! Then Thursday morning we got to go to the Oquirrah Mountain temple with Cann!
It was so busy! But a cool experience!

And we made it (we didn’t have to wait longπŸ˜‰) to see Madi at the airport!

Then we hung out at Levi and Stacey’s

Then back to the hotel—it actually had a sweet slide that went outside…but it was broken, bummer.

And today—was family pictures!!

I really hope Grandma gets some that she loves! Addi fell asleep between our individual family and the big group shot, Tanner who has been a step off for 3 days (I caught him drinking out of Grama Nette’s cup the day she and I were going to have to get better to die) anyway he tossed his cookies Thursday night, but back to today, the photographer is getting everyone set up and Tanner says “my tummy hurts” I said “if you need to puke just bust it out of here” so the photographer literally has EVERYONE in Isaac’s entire family in place and Tanner bolts…uhhh….
So I go check on him. Didn’t puke.
A few minutes later I go check again, he’d just gone pee and couldn’t get his belt done up (because that was definitely wearing Seth’s belt) anyway I helped him we hurried and washed hands then ran back. Afterwards Tan said “that was torture” πŸ˜‚ I said “Thank  you for doing that for Grandma”
Isaac had to hide in the back of the grandkid picture and just hold Addster up Simba style. I —like so many people stressed over those pics, what to wear? Whether or not to curl my hair, bla bla bla but seriously…we laughed so hard! It was kinda “fun”
After we hit raising canes, and now we’re on the road! So far good roads. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
I didn’t say anything to Isaac until we mapped it once we were on the road but I’ve secretly been hoping we make it back in time for Tanner to play basketball tomorrow…if he wants too…after driving all night-I’m crazy! But I liked the idea of having the option. Maps said we’d have a 1/2 hour window…but Isaac drives fast—we might end up with the option after all.
Oh wait…depending on how he’s feeling.
Time will tell!
More next week!
