Cats. For real.

I could start the blog with oh it’s so late when I’m blogging because we went to the lake but it might be starting to sound like a broken record…but it’s true. And it was fun. In fact the lake is significantly more fun now that I can ski instead of just try and try and try. However after the first full week of school I’m not sure the late lake trip was best for my tired tired kids. I mean…here’s Cann…he didn’t even get wet… so I guess we’ll call it family bonding…or family torture. Whatever!

We’ll get back to that beautiful sunset on the water but first the week:
When I blogged the other day and Isaac had bought a horse and then he returned it and then he was talking about a mule and I said “who knows what will happen next…” at that point cats were not on my radar at all but now we have two cats! For real.
If you can’t believe it-me either.
Like I always say, I can’t make this stuff up!
Remarkably though,  I’m totally on board as long as little suckers catch mice! I really hate that they come up by my legs and touch me—it makes me want to  scream every time but… all of my people love these little cats and I guess I love that it makes them happy…
And if they’ll do their job mouse’n—great!
So the new cats:

Addi loves them the most—then probably Isaac! The boys all like them too. Well…you can see about how close Tanner wants to get to it πŸ˜‚
They went through a few name changes, the one was “butterscotch” I guess Addi took to him right from the beginning, and the other was going to be Hunter because we got them from our neighbor and their grandson and Cannon are buddies his name is Hunter—but that wasn’t a very good name for a girl cat, even though we want them to be good hunters…but I think they’ve settled on Teancum -ultimate hard core good guy! (we learned about him studying The Book of Mormon last week so we liked it) and Artemis (Who is the Greek goddess of hunting…who knew? Not me) and I should probably google if that’s even how you spell it!
That was Saturday mornings big event then that night we headed to the ward party out at the lake (The close lake that’s no good to us because you can only have a 90 hp motor on it) Our plan was to show our face and then leave and go to the other lake, but we decided if the kids were having fun, We would stay. And really the older kids wanted to leave but the younger kids were having a good time so we stayed.. And got volleyball going. πŸ‘πŸ» Cannon told me he was going to put me “on a poster”🀣 OK, whatever buddy but that apparently is the new way teenagers talk trash??? Rest assured I was not postered!

And I guess I didn’t even take a pic of the kids that were having fun.
Oh this girl though—she played in the sand at my feet every rotation. And that new swim suit we were excited about- disaster! I went 2 piece because she’s potty trained now and I thought it would be easier…wrong we couldn’t hardly keep those little bottoms on her hiney! Even rolled up like that.

Solution-I got home and ordered another swim suit! One piece! Besides we wore last one out at the lake-it’s not like there’s a lot of having to get in and out of the swimsuit to use the restroom😏
Sunday…deacon duty…that Deacon recruits some pretty good and cute helpers.
Monday…
Monday-Was so fun! But I don’t really have picture evidence because I felt so irresponsible! Isaac didn’t have to teach and it was a really hot day so…we sent our kids to school and went to the lake!! It was awesome— Such a fun little date! But crazy right? And It was good practice for me to get up skiing again, but the water was terrible. I didn’t realize how good I had had it before! I skied, he skied, I was still tired, but I either had to go again or it was gonna be time to leave so I went again! Addi swam around a little bit but mostly ate cheese and pretzel dippers and we wore ourselves out in an hour or so and headed home.
We were just getting into Kirksville when we blew a tire.

And run over twine while we’re limping it so some place to park. What a mess!  3rd one on the same side this summer…sometimes it just takes something like that to light a bit of a fire. We’ve known we needed a better trailer  I mean look at that thing —the boat sits on the fender. The tires squat in all goofy, it’s  awful and that one side the tires wear weird in the middle too from the weight of the boat pushing the fender into it.
So that sparked a project!
But we ended up just unhooking from it. Going home then Isaac went back and dealt with it. Well- make that Cannon and Isaac, Cann got in on it because Isaac made it part of the pick Cannon up from football trip into town. I got these hilarious text from Cann while I had picked  the others up from school normal and we had a nice -normal- afternoon in the pool. And cats.

They finished the day off with a little battleship.

Tuesday Isaac found a new boat trailer.
I forgot how awesome Mrs Feeney is about sending pics—I love it!!

Yesterday Addi and I made his class tiger T-shirts. It was actually really fun to remember Seth helping me make them for Tanner class when he had Mrs. Feeney.

He found a trailer Tuesday went and got it Wednesday, he had to teach all day yesterday but by this evening we were ready to take it on a maiden voyage.

We rode bikes at the church after school.

I liked trying to see if we could spot Cannon at practice across the way too. But then it was home -pack up quick -grab a corndog and we were headed to the lake. We picked Cannon up straight from practice.

It was only about 75° outside, but it had been so hot earlier in the week that water was awesome! And smooth again!!  Yay!

I tubed with Colt for a minute and then  skiing with that sunset on great water—it was awesome!

And what would an Ison adventure be without a little drama?
Coming home it started to feel weird like even I could feel the vibration and then it was kind of noisy so we’re just getting back into town —actually pretty close to the same spot where we blew the tire on Monday. But Isaac pulled off to check things out and the lug nuts were coming off!!!… Oh crud! At least he had brought the impact with him to be able to tighten them back up. 😳 But other than that, I think the new trailer was a success!

Hopefully, I’ll post a video at the bottom of this tomorrow. I had so many weekly videos on my phone that I couldn’t even update it this week 😬 so I’ve been trying to clean them off.

Back to School and Colt is 11!!!

Another late night lake trip—our neighbor stopped by so we didn’t even leave until 6:15 😩 but it seemed like a good way to top off the first week of school.
But it’s been a busy week, school, football getting started, Colts birthday…
So let’s see:
Saturday we were back to swimming in a green pool🀯
It would’ve been fine if we’d vacuumed it first…but instead we stirred all that junk up.

Sunday:

Monday we invited friends out for a last day of summer slip’n slide party but only a few girls Seth’s age came. The older boys were not ammused! Tanner tried-Colt only left his book for Tanner’s sake Cann was at football—do I get points for trying? Hopefully. At least we got the pool back to blue. Yours truly was the one vacuuming it out this time!

Then it was back to school…
Kindergarten

3rd Grade

5th Grade

8th grade! (And didn’t want to get his new shoes dirty walking through the wet grass😏)

So far so good—except for Seth, that poor kid is SO TIRED he almost didn’t go today. Well actually he didn’t go with his brothers, but when he realized I wouldn’t let him watch Paw Patrol with Addi he said “Fine!! I’ll go to school!” So I took him. He HATES HATE HATES PE???? I’ve got to figure out if he got in trouble or something. Because it’s crazy. By today I’m realizing ug something isn’t right, I’ve got to get to the bottom of this. But earlier in the week I said “it’s ok Grama hates PE too” and Tanner just said “It’s probably just cuz she’s not ‘afletic’!” 🀣 So sorry Grama but that was his assessment not mine and it was kinda hilarious when he said it with the f instead of th and all.
But where were we? Back to school Tues-Colt’s bday Wednesday! How is he 11? Time goes so fast!
I was fit to be tied when Grama sent another stuffed monkey! (Sorry Grama you’re taking beating this post—but we love ya!) Back to the stuffed animal-We’re getting a little old for that AND we have tons…but when she told me his cousin crocheted it for him I took it all back—that’s pretty cool and she did a great job! It’s super soft and Seth and Tanner are hoping she can do their favorite animals too. Seth said “Elsie is so good she could crochet a house!” …πŸ˜‚

More birthday fun…

I think he had a pretty good day!
First shot!

It was a busy day because they had children and youth too-but we took treats πŸ˜‹
And he wanted apple crisp instead of a cake but it got late so we just let the birthday extend a bit and did it Thursday after school. (I had it made Wed. Just to clarify πŸ˜‰)

And back to the pool!

Today our friends hooked us up with some pretty yummy chocolate! Tanner said “I’m chocolate sick.” Who knew there was such a thing? Ha—just kidding.

And Colt trying out his new easel.

There’s a few more random things…like you didn’t really think he was done with the car did you? And Addi modeling her new swimsuit. It’s a little big (good) but we’ve literally wore the other one out! Tonight -she was in the old one- and I was like “why didn’t dad snap you up?” But really 2 out of 3 snaps have pulled out of it! It’s been well worn!

And tonight!!! Finally!!!!! I got up skiing!!!!

I got up 4 times total, it went pretty good. After the first two I was content-I’d got up,  got in and out of the wake both sides. My legs were tired so good enough…then I looked at the pics Colt had taken and my stink’n swim suit was tucked up in my life jacket and my belly was hanging out. 😳 No thanks! So I had to go again for a redo on the pics with my stuff tucked in.
But I was pretty pumped I’ve have tried so hard for so long-it finally paid off! (Isaac might have been more excited than meπŸ˜‰)
So I like to post pics of my favorite skier but…I better be his favorite skier now too!

And Colt’s our lake dawg. He and Addi came with us while Cannon (or rather the screens) tended!
He got a new life jacket πŸŽ‰ —see ya later purple beauty! (We can report to Tanner that it floats…he was worried πŸ˜‚)

I think that’s it…for now.
