Flat Tires— it’s like Ground Hog day

Saturday we finished up soccer with Tanner then I went to Cannon‘s football game. Well it was a varsity game but he dresses so I went and watched.

Then we watched the BYU game. Ug! And I had to make dinner after wasting my afternoon like that.

Sunday was the primary program!

https://youtu.be/BIK7PUejv0A?si=8vmrbBMq3ksYRpB-

Best Sunday of the year! The kids did awesome. Addi sang whether other kids had a little special duet or not. πŸ˜‚ but it was cute!

Also snagged this cute pic of her writing her names 😊

We only took one vehicle to Church because I didn’t have any meetings or anything and actually we had let some friends borrow the car because we wanted them to be able to get to church anyway we walked out got in the car. Cannon was driving. We started  to pull away. We’re like oh no, that’s bad-flat tire, clear to the ground flat, probably drove in on it low,  so …we had to put the spare on, We had lots of friends there to help us change the tire.

It would be great if that was the only flat tire story I had for you this week, my goodness! I got out at the house after dropping Addi off for school and you could just hear the air pouring out of another one -so three different tires in the last week and a half or two weeks or whatever 🀯  I ended up just pulling the van up by the shop and taking the truck to get kids at pick up and stuff, but I am tired of the tire disaster.

Before Isaac sold the belly dump when he got that last  load of rock, he went with a little bit bigger rock. Just hoping it would last longer, but we’re kind of leaning towards… Maybe that’s the culprit of all these flat tires. I don’t know, but what I do know is it’s getting old—super annoying!

Anyway, back to Sunday Colton and I had a caramel apple making project, which was fun, but we decided to go for a bigger batch and maybe we went a little too big…darn! It was a mess. (how about the fact he got a picture of it, actually splashing up and burning my head—It hurt like crazy. We did finally find a taller spoon.)

It was boiling over so then we had to turn the heat down and then it was taking forever and  then we ended up having to put it back on the stop and reheat it to actually get it so it was good for caramel apples not just a caramel sauce and by the time that happened, I was in the middle of cooking dinner and trying to do too many things at once. It was crazy, but we got it done!  He We had wanted to make a caramel apple for his cross country coach and then we gave some to Mrs Eitel too, so he had fun with that. Don’t think we even got a pic with the finished product! Whoops!

After the caramel apple disaster, I let them carve their pumpkins. I’ve been holding them off since Seth bought himself a pumpkin at the first of the month so I let him go for it Sunday night, but it was still too soon because they’re nasty and Halloween is not till tomorrow, but hopefully we get those down to the garbage today! It was carve Sunday night Paint Monday night 🀷🏻‍♀️

But I think they did have a good time messing around with them.

Monday was the moonlight Mile, The high school cross-country team invited the Middle School cross-country team to do it with them. I thought it would only take like six or seven minutes, right oh no it was forever!!! Only Colt and one other kid showed up from ms. I think he would’ve had more fun if others were there from his team he didn’t love being Cannon’s little brother all night.😏- fair!

Tuesday was the cross-country potluck! It was fun!

Wednesdaf we didn’t have activities, so that was pretty nice. Cannon and I went to the district choir performance to support the young women…I might not have very good concert etiquette, but I have a lot better than Cannon😏 The conductor started really getting into it, and I thought Cannon was gonna fall out of his chair laughing…That is until he got the: If looks good kill look from me! But still.

Yesterday we had early out and then parent teacher conferences all afternoon, and I was going to go the Truman volleyball game, but my Addster wasn’t feeling very good. She didn’t want to eat anything (Except cookie dough— oh, I made tons of cookies for the football team that morning… Because maybe I’m superstitious. I’m pretty sure I made cookies for their team dinner the last time they played this team—and won.) Anyway, back to Add she just kept telling me her tummy feels full or “I’m fasting”  πŸ˜‰  So later that day I went to parent teacher conf  (and Colt counted as the babysitter, ) but Really she just laid down on my bed and stayed there the whole time. I think she did fall asleep for some of it but  I was gone a long, long time and then I feel like last night she really did have a fever,   but the good news is it seems to have broken And she’s been fine all  day today πŸ‘πŸ»

Today the kids don’t have school so it actually was kind of a terrible day to have Floyd and Martin come work on the building, but they’re here and they are making progress!

We have the Ward trunk or treat tonight. Hopefully I’ll add in some pictures later. They’ve been being creative on Tanner’s costume with cardboard and the hot glue gun all morning. I told him maybe next year we should start befor the day of … 🀷🏻‍♀️ but  I think they’ve had a good time and I think Seth is going to be an Indian and Addi’s going be a cowboy…Cowboys and Indians, I don’t know what else! Oh I guess Colt chose a green wizard.

Until the next go around.

Oh and I dressed up this year too—costume decided on while watching “What About Bob?” At the Ison family fun week last summer. πŸ˜‚

Let’s see…this week went fast! These guys fixed the Truman concessions popcorn popper…they really enjoyed testing it out and making sure it worked!

Honestly I don’t remember what they were up to here but the grins were too good to pass up. At one point Colt was teaching the math but he’s not even in this one so…who knows?!

Saturday was Colts last cross country race—I’m a huge fan of this sport! It is a great group of kids!! I was at a stake RS meeting so Isaac had to be the run kids to soccer man oh and he had to coach too so neither of us got to watch the race but the other parents always hook us up with great pics:

The weather was a little chilly and the course was hilly so he didn’t PR but…he still ran great and…ya can’t do that every time. πŸ˜‰
That afternoon the weather warmed up and it was beautiful and the kids played outside all afternoon! I love that! Cannon went to his buddy Brett’s house to ride motorcycles then hangout at his birthday party camp out thing—Isaac watched the BYU Notre Dame game with me! It was so fun. I text Cann cuz he was missing it and said “are you even a fan?” To which he replied “I’m a better friend”…hmmm ok and I probably text him 50 times with updates! Then I was so excited I stayed up way too late watching post game  stuff especially since I had an early morning meeting. Whoops, oh well, I think it was worth it!
We survived Sunday…and I got a nap! πŸ‘πŸ» such a good nap we ate a late dinner-whoops- and if I’m going to make Sunday dinner it’s going to be “Sunday food” but we were out of potatoes and I didn’t realize it. Fake potatoes are an abomination! But we made it work!
Monday the kids didn’t have school, because it was one of those professional development days. So they loved that!
Isaac and I went and visited at the Pasa’s-they’re so great, it was really fun. “We will only be gone a few minutes”  turned out to be a lie but when we did get back-they hadn’t missed us. πŸ˜‰
We had a little project that afternoon:

Then it was Seth’s last soccer game. (πŸŽ‰ so happy it’s over) They rescheduled it for Monday night because of Truman‘s homecoming. Cannon‘s last (JV) football game (I forgot to look and see if there were pictures that the coaches Wife had posted) it was a Little bit of a late night to start our week with but oh well we’re just so happy to have some of the busyness is winding down!

I can’t remember anything from Tuesday, I finally emailed the basketball coach because Cannon never talked to him, but I was just kind of concerned with there being some conflicts with seminary but honestly, I couldn’t have been happier with the reply I got back, so that was good news.

But weather in the 70’s has been amazing! Lots of outside time after school! Tanner built a crossbow …πŸ˜‰

Wednesday Colt finished up soccer… Not sure we’ll do that again😏 And then it was Combined YM/YW I love it when the boys are in charge-it’s no stress!
Cann was a trooper about participating in charades (Colt too but Cann was the one I worried about) I think it helped that some of his buddies weren’t there.
Thursday I got out on a walk with a friend in this beautiful weather and then that evening  I (kind of reluctantly)  went and supported the relief society shooting activity, but it actually was pretty fun!
Isaac took Tanner to soccer where they had a make up game… And he got to score on a penalty kick at the end when they were doing their tiebreak—and we thought we were done!!.. but I guess he has one more game tomorrow morning. I’m not sure why they made up all the other ones in the week but not his 🀷🏻‍♀️ oh well.
Today Isaac and I took the motorcycle out a little ride. We went over to the cemetery and it was a good time. I don’t know why I’ve never thought to ride a motorcycle over there… Maybe I’ll do it again!

Then after  school,  in a total lapse of judgment, I shook the kids up to Cantril. Ugh! I feel like almost everything I’ve typed up tonight has been like “it was fun” or “it was a good time”… I would not say that about taking 4 kids in that store! But they love it so I guess there’s something to be said for that…and we got some good deals which we love a good deal so… I guess it was OK! But yikes!

Anyway…I think that’s it.

It’s already Friday again! Let’s see what I have to blog about beside AI generated pics of my kids…the way I have to do pics these days is pretty annoying I’m not sure I want to upload them all to my Google Photos but…they’re kindof hilarious…

and somehow better when you can read the prompts…although these might be to tiny to read..

Saturday we had soccer, (which is when Gemini photo generator started babysitting) but I don’t remember much else. Cannon and Isaac went with 2 of Cannons friends down to finger lakes to ride motorcycles. Not one single pic. But I think they had fun! Isaac dropped Cannon off at the youth activity in Centralia on his way back. I’m just thankful the other kids were so good because I left for soccer and didn’t see Isaac again until after everyone was in bed.

I don’t remember much from Sunday but all week we’ve had soccer games instead of soccer practices because they’re trying to make up the games. I’m a fan of that and I don’t have to make the Practice plan. πŸ‘πŸ» The soccer pics… not very soccer-y but presumably they were having fun.

Monday Cannon had a football game but it started earlier than normal so I went to 20 minutes of his game and ran over and coached soccer then ran back to his game. He had three catches on three targets and… I missed them all!! Actually at the start of the game in two blinks of an eye we were down 14, Then our  Cute friends the Hansen’s  showed up to watch him. They are so sweet, and right as they got there we scored a touchdown so I was sure they were good luck πŸ˜‰ and it wasn’t so bad.  It was so fun visit with them, but I had to run to soccer, anyways when I got back We still hadn’t scored again, but apparently the second time I brought some offense with me, in the fourth quarter we scored three touchdowns ended up winning. It was Fun!

Since I don’t have any pics of the catches…at least he was in on this muffed punt recovery!

Today it is cold, but Tuesday it was hot! And despite me saying no every single time they asked these kids still got out the new little kiddie pool. I just didn’t want to have to clean it up. (Which of course I did have to clean it up two days later) But they played for hours in this thing! The back table at church when you go in the back doors is kind of the just give  away table. I don’t know why it’s that way but it is, anyways they found this new pool there and Isaac let them get it—this might be the one time it gets used, when I say I put it away, I just shoved it downstairs, but it’s dirty and gross and who knows if it ever holds air again after this time but they had so much fun!!!

I went to watch some of my young women play volleyball because it was their last game and when  I came home and they had convinced Tanner to play with them and it was well after dark when I finally got them to go in the house and shower off!

Wednesday Colt had a cross-country meet in Moberly so we went down and watched. It was perfect weather to run in and he PR’d and so did ton of his team. Also, did he got a medal? I think because he was top 25 but he ended up being 14th in our conference and his team won first place so then he got another medal (that was “gold”). He was pretty pumped.

His heels are killing him. They never loosen up, except for that though he’s peeking right at the right time, except that was the conference meet for Middle School. They only have one more race (tomorrow) and I won’t be able to go to that so it’s good we were able to sneak down to the one in Moberly and then get back in time for youth activities.

Thursday Tanner had soccer, every time he plays on the side that’s clear away from me to try and take pictures and then they switch sides and he switches too and plays clear away from me agsin! But I did see Tim, the dad that took all the awesome pictures of him last season so I asked him to put me on the text or email list so 🀞🏻🀞🏻🀞🏻maybe eventually I’ll end up with awesome  pictures of Tanner playing soccer but I don’t have any yet!

Today Addi and I met Tanners class at the planetarium field trip. I was…eh…about going but Addi really wanted to. Holy Cow! It was incredible I learned a TON! Tanner said “it was better than a rollercoaster!” And I agree it was pretty cool how they zoomed you “out in space” —anyway—we had a great time!

We haven’t don’t much else to report from today…its just cold and we don’t like it—it’s really only in the 40’s but it feels colder than that because it was 85° Tuesday.

I think that’s about it!

Friday, October 9, 2026

Our free Saturday was loaded with conference! We love conference…or I love conference and the kids love the treats but whatever.

Cannon had a blast at his buddy Luke’s birthday party, I went to get him late that night and I bet you I saw 15 deer…It was a little high stress driving down there!

Sunday More conf…Addi had to wait until the last session to hear Elder Bednar!

Monday I had soccer and my team played so hard…it makes coaching so much better when the kids try hard. We’re not supposed to keep score but I think we either tied or won by one. But we were really good (or lucky) defensively! It was fun and I was walking off the field when I got a text from my friend that said “TD…Cannon Ison!!!!!!!” So that was exciting! We were hoping someone got a pic (the coaches wife and another mom are sometimes in the sidelines taking pictures) we didn’t find anything yet but…that game wasn’t posted yet so maybe 🀞🏻 I did find this pic I liked

Tuesday I had a heck of a t-shirt project for a friend, I love doing that but…there’s a reason I only do it for fun. Yikes that was stressful. They didn’t turn out perfect but they were pretty good.

Tanner helped with literacy night—I thought it looked like he was having fun but…that was just playing connect 4 at the end…he hated it. Oh well thanks for trying to help.

Wednesday Addi and I were playing a little checkers and Tanners been a trooper helping Isaac projects the last few days.

That night we played volleyball for YW…I got to sub in and …it was pretty fun.

Isaac loves an October  Lake trip and Thursday they made it happen. I love that I’m getting smarter and said no way! I got cold watching soccer!

This is why I like think soccer players make good defenders in basketball πŸ‘πŸ»

Porter and Seth had a little half time soccer game that was pretty cute.

Colt (and Isaac) wanted to go back to the lake today but Isaac hurt his back -again- and he’s planning on going riding motorcycles with Cannon and his buddies tomorrow, so with a bad back…again!

But I always tell him “do whatever you want you’re going to anyway” because it’s true he will.

We fed the missionaries but I was cooking (catching hot pads on fire along with dropping cream cheese on the floor that  I had set out all day to soften…it was disaster central around here) anyway Colts coaches name popped up on my phone…I’d forgot to tell Isaac I needed him to pick him up…whoops. I had him just walk to the Page’s so his coach could leave but that was embarrassing too! Ug! Maybe he does “need” a phone…he doesn’t need apps though and that’s my biggest regret with Cannons…

Anyway dinner worked out. We went to the volleyball game, the kids stayed here with Colt and they we watching old Home Improvement reruns when we got home. Perfect!

The weeks are good but I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above water…🀷🏻‍♀️ sometimes…maybe I slept through Cannons ortho appointment this week. Whoops! Haven’t admitted that to him yet. 😬

Until next time…

Today I listened to an old President Holland talk called “A Teacher come from God” it was good but the part I probably needed to hear the most was when he said “or-heaven forbid-the 15 year-olds” Its been rough around here. In an effort to keep the blog positive I’ll leave it at that,  but I probably needed to hear that just so I feel like maybe we’re normal. …I have 4 more that are going to be normal at 15 too. Yikes! …maybe it gets easier… 🀞🏻

Soccer got canceled Saturday…not sad 🀣

We went to Bro Gannon's game…they had fought so hard the night before…they didn’t fight at all this time-laid a total egg-and lost in 3. Maybe I’m a fair weather fan but if it was always like that I wouldn’t go! Good thing they play matches like the night before to keep me coming back πŸ˜‰

Colts still dutifully tending his elephant ears…leaves are as big as Seth! …not sure when these go away…first frost?? He’s definitely planning on digging up and saving the bulbs but they won’t make it through the winter it’s too cold here.

Sunday was normal—I had a mtg after church and picked up Mayen and Aleea after it finished up. I thought Cannon had coordinated when they were gonna come over but really Mayen Just text me and said how about 2:15 So I picked them up. I showed up at home with friends, and the house was a disaster. The only good part of the story is that my people were horrified….They said “why didn’t you warn us?” And I thought “why do we live like this in the first place?” But really I thought they knew we were coming…🀷🏻‍♀️ it was fine, maybe a little embarrassment will motivate all of us.  Anyway, then I fixed dinner and what not and it was fun having them over!

Monday Cannon had football. I was late because we had soccer practice but they won, the run game was going well so they didn’t pass much but he blocked well. Cann had a ton of support there from his young men’s leaders—so impressive! And other church friends too.

Cann runs the plays in.

I had a ton of pics (and movies) like this on my phone.

Tuesday I took Seth and Addi to Centerville  to watch Colt run. I’m very glad we went. I’m glad I was there for him, Because it was awful! He took off limping and I thought oh crud I hope his heels loosen up but really that was the least of his problems! His real trouble was his stomach! He ended up puking during the race— said it was like a sharp stabbing pain the entire time Honestly, It was impressive that he finished it! He’s been coming in about fifth on his team this time he was last, it was just a bad day. Afterwards, when I zoomed in on the pictures, I thought “oh he looked like he was gonna puke from the beginning” 😩
Poor guy.
I was glad we could just head her home and he didn’t have to deal with riding the bus… About halfway home, he started to feel and act normal,  so we’re grateful for that,  but we don’t know what got him!

Additionally, I was so mad at the PE coach I could’ve ripped his head off. They made them run the mile in PE class, and Colts coach was going to ask if his team could do it a different day but he forgot—no big deal. I still think if the kids told him they had a race he should’ve let them skip it—these are the kids that run miles for FUN! Colts just at this age, and it happened to Cannon too, but his bone grow maybe a little faster than the ligaments or whatever but anyways his heels hurt so bad after he exercises, so he did fine on the mile and got a pretty good time (I thought the plan was he was going to dog it if the PE Coach made him do it— but we were also “sure” he would let him do a different day—We were wrong! Instead the PE coach told him the good cross country runners can run the mile, Get a good time, and still have a great race. So Colt ran the mile 1 class then got excused from class and got on the bus the next class while his heels  tightened up. I wasn’t very happy about that when I saw  him limp down the course hoping his heels would eventually loose up. Fuming Mom! —That didn’t know that wasn’t even the problem.)
Because Tuesday was terrible, We were happy that he had two races this week so he could kind of flush that one… But Thursday’s race got rained out —annnnd  he had a blast at practice so I guess we’ll consider it flushedπŸ˜‰ he’s the guy you can’t really see because he’s behind  all the splashes.

Wednesday was youth activities (the boys tested their vertical jump) and soccer and all the normal run around. But the real excitement was Blake came to town! It was really fun to see him and catch up a little bit. I just wish he could’ve brought his family! He and Isaac had some project at work where they were surveying  students… Whatever they do??? but it was good to see him.

It was a quick trip. He got here Wednesday night and left Thursday afternoon. After he left Addi kept saying “where’s dad’s friend where did dad’s friend go?”

Yesterday was the torrential downpour—so much so that they already canceled tomorrow’s soccer, happy conference weekend to us!! Today was all the homecoming festivities.
That’s Seth and his friend Lainey with the tiger (just for years down the road  when I look at that and think it doesn’t quite look like Addi and wonder if she was really taller than him then)
Seth found lots of friends and was on a mission to get as much Candy as possible. Addi was on his tracks like usual. Tanner (doesn’t like people …but there was a little bit too much going on to read his book the whole time) he was hanging back a little but picked up trash when it blew by and sone lady noticed and gave him $2 he was like “no really it’s ok” but she insisted and told him how impressed she was and to buy something he liked with it. He also cheered with me when my Young Women came by.
Cann to rode with football and Colt walked with cross country.
I had a great time visiting with some of my friends from church! It was good to chat!
And tonight football even won. We were up big so Cann got his first varsity snaps. Some kid “pamcaked” him so he was a little embarrassed but that’s ok. I didn’t see it I was trying to take pics—those must have been the blurry ones.
And speaking of “years down the road” Addi and I watched a bunch of old videos this week. She calls them “baby movies” and loves them but —they definitely make me want to do more of them.
Don’t blink! These kids are growing up fast!!

I think that’s the wrap for this go around.πŸ‘πŸ»
