Colt is 10!! & Back to School

We’re back in the swing of things now!
Saturday I ran over to the cemetery… by ran I really mean slow slow jog and I didn’t even start that until I got to the pavement but still-I made it! But as I turned up the land there was a whole bunch of wild turkeys! I hate animals right but animals out in the wild (where they belong) Rizzy you can have all the pets!!! They were so cool! And then it was a race-πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Me waddling up the hill—them waddling up the hill then ahead of me trying to get away from me. I tried to take a picture but slow as I was moving I was still moving and…it didn’t work!
When I got up on top the deer bailed too and Riz and Caleb’s squirrels—left evidence of snacking on the bench!

Saturday morning Isaac volunteered to be the faculty advisor for the Bulldogs and actions service project. He recruited both the Missionaries and us… And I don’t know how the Missionaries faired but we pretty much all had ended up with poison ivy.
We started out, putting mulch in the flower bed… That was fine.

But then they wanted to try and eradicate annivasive weeed… all those tall ones (with seed pods)-they wanted gone. πŸ€ͺ hopefully we get points for trying!

Saturday Isaac was supposed to meet the missionaries to do a church tour at 2:00. I look out the window at 2:08 and this is what is going on… he couldn’t find his phone so I called the Missionaries and the person had stood up Missionaries up anyway, so it didn’t matter. And the guy he is helping is brother Baker and he’s a good guy -we really like him, so I’m glad you could help him out.

Isaac can’t get out the door without these two but it’s pretty cute-they rode the four wheeler over and I rode my motorcycle and we checked on his pond job.

This is all the boys want to do these days… All days… It drives me crazy! We usually wheel and deal —like if they play the piano then they get to do it  for 15 min or something…I’m pretty strict on screen time but …I still hate it!!!

Except the new piano app! My friend is taking students again, so I was thinking about having them take real lessons but it’s 15 minutes to her house and then it’s only a half hour lesson and then it’s 15 minutes back and I really want all three boys to do the piano so besides the money cost (that’s on Isaac’s budget. He owes me piano lessons for life because he brought home goats one time πŸ˜‚) but money aside there’s a huge time cost!! Cannon really has a natural talent…Colt…naturally has other talentsπŸ˜‰πŸ€ͺ but he is willing to try which is admirable! and Tanner really has done very minimal because I have to sit with him at the piano and show him where middle C is and we’re just in the very beginning books. But anyways, I finally had the thought to look up an app and so we tried one and I kind of liked it. It was kind of “formal” but then we tried another one, and THEY really liked it. Seriously,Yesterday there was a fight over who got to go first!! I wish I would’ve thought about it when our other piano teacher quit we could be two years down this road!! Any we’re just doing the free trial right now but I think I’m gonna go for it -the kids really like playing songs that they’ve heard at school or are familiar with, it accompanies them in the background—it’s not perfect but it’s convenient and it’s cheap (well…compared to real lessons) so it’s kind of my style!
Addi was crazy at church-I took her to the foyer and then I find things like this on my phone—stinkers!!
This girl will eat melon with…anybody!

But look at this ridiculous way Isaac cuts a melon 🀯
I’m like look man of your just going to eat the heart out at least cut it in the middle. Nope-he likes to cut the end off, dig for the heart, and twist his spoon to make melon “eggs”  sometimes all I can do is shake my head (and take pictures) but  I love him.

Monday Colt turned 10!!!
They had a great time with this…hover ball??? Oh the boys told me it’s a “fly nova” whatever.

The hoverboard we bought him was a complete bust! He didn’t even get to ride it once! It wouldn’t even turn on!  I looked and looked and read reviews, but I still must’ve ordered the wrong one. So will have to do a redo or something I sent it back. He also was going to get a pull up bar but then instead Isaac kind of rigged one up downstairs —he’s pretty strong he can do 5 pull ups. After I found out my friends kid broke his arm on a hover board. I was like, maybe the pull up bar better idea. so I don’t know we’ll see.

do you want an apple crisp instead of a cake so that’s what we did for a birthday treat.

And Tuesday it was back to school!

Colt wanted a new run shirt and he wanted green on green 😬 I might buy their clothes but I don’t pick what they wear!!

And once we got them out the door, I quit taking pictures! Weird for me but true!
Cannon has had football all week but it’s been so hot like 95 to 100 with 85% humidity or something just gross like that so they’ve done it a little bit later at night. But I don’t know if it was the heat or just needed more rest or what but Wednesday it was only the second day of school, but he was so sick. He stayed home and didn’t even get out of bed all day.
Thursday our good friend Justin Jackman was in town. He did residency here so they were here the first four years that we were. He’s just in town working for a week. They do weird things like that -but anyways we had him over for dinner last night and it was so fun to see him and just kind of catch up check in on his family. We had a great time!  By tonight I feel like we’re survived week one!! πŸŽ‰ Cannon and I might go to the football game tonight but I think that’s about it!

As hard as we play-we ought to have something fun to report for the last week of summer, but we don’t. Oh well, I guess Camnon started football this week. He’s pretty excited about that. We went to the parent meeting on Wednesday and I saw the schedule- all 6 games of it -and I just looked at that and thought seriously I’ve been taking you to early morning weights since January for 6 games? Oh well. And I’ve been trying to figure out how we’re going to get back to the St. George Temple open house when it’s football season and three days later basketball tryouts. I had almost decided we were just gonna miss the last game of football but then when I realized that Isaac‘s school is going through accreditation leaving a couple days right before that might not be the best, so we might wait and let him try out for basketball and then maybe leave and do it I don’t know. I do know “the things that matter most last the longest” (see Pres Ballard’s most recent conference talk) and nothing last longer than what happens in temples so I know it’s more important. It’s still just a little bit tricky trying to decide how I’m going to explain that to a coach…I know how coaches areπŸ€ͺπŸ˜‰ we’ll see right? Time will tell.
Anyway the-non exciting week:
Saturday we went over to Baring to help with the tornado cleanup-but first Isaac went over to Bishop Sorhus‘s to borrow his chainsaw again. Well they got chatting and we were late, but it didn’t matter. Oh and all we did was pick up garbage and a few limbs-didn’t need the chainsaw anyway. The devastation was pretty incredible though. All the stuff we save… there’s really no reason to… but I did see some 1970s Tupperware— in perfect condition! That’s stuff is impressive! Looked just like the ones on my Grandmas counter.
As for the chainsaw, Isaac needs to just buy himself a new one. Which he could do if he would buy anything new, but instead, he wants to wait and get a good deal on some used piece of junk… Classic…
We had to bust it home (but we did stop and buy fresh peaches πŸ˜‹) but we had an activity down at the church and we were one of the breakout sessions -only because the originals couldn’t make it- We were just the back up plan and we just talked about how we do come follow  me in the evenings, but before that I had to meet with brother Hilton where I got the great news that Sunday I would be released as the music coordinator! Hallelujah! Sister Rogers had to die to get out of that calling, so I really saw myself as in it forever, so happy that’s not the case!
Sunday smiles!

Sunday I also taught relief Society on elder Uchtdorf’s talk “Jesus Christ is the strength of parents” I was really nervous about that topic for the people who don’t have kids who I know want them, but because of the comments and participation, I thought it turned out pretty good.
These two have 3 older brothers but they’re the ones always doing things I want to snag a picture of! The jeep no longer has a steering wheel-she doesn’t seem to mind.

Let’s see, what else?
Got a few memories in on FamilySearch, some of my Great Grandmas stuff and some of our neighbors too. I like that kind of stuff.

Try’n on Cann’s helmet.

Addi: Don’t worry dad I’ll close the hood of the Goose for ya! (The not so Golden, Golden Goose is giving him problems again. 😏 bummer)

I’ve been able to get over to the cemetery a little bit more in the mornings this week. I always enjoy that. I got some new flowers over there and I just like it when I get to go-it’s kind of my little place.

Wednesday I cooked all day. I had made bread Sunday.(out of necessity.😏) but it turned out pretty good and the kids ate it and it’s just so healthy for them so I thought I’d make some more. Then I made some cookies for the school of business barbecue and then I made a broccoli salad and I “made” rolls (truthfully, I just got those out of the freezer) but it felt like  all morning long. I felt like because I take 3 times as many people to that BBQ I should take 3 things🀷‍♀️ anyway but we had that football mtg and the boys had youth activities after so it was a busy night. Isaac dropped all the food off at the church as a holding spot and we headed to the mtg. Which was way too long and boring but whatever. Isaac and the kids left and Cannon and I stayed and signed that we were there and signed their little contract and whatever. Well, Isaac got to the church and the food was gone! Dang huh?  There is a family in our ward that lost a baby and they were doing a meal for them that night after the burial and just collecting stuff at the church. So it was a little crazy but the truth be told I would 1000 times rather have made food for that family than for the  school of business!! It was just crazy (made for a good story) and Cann and I ran to the grocery store and grabbed a couple boxes chips and my kids probably ate more of what I brought that they would’ve otherwise —so it was all fine, we’ll call it a win, it was just crazy!

These two love this horse!

The little jeep needs to be tossed…but not before these little engineers rigged themselves up a foot massager! I hate that we never throw things away even when they’re garbage!! …but…I love their creativity!!

And a little run down to the mailbox for an amazon package! They all (cuz mostly Cannon and it trickles down)  get pretty excited about new stuff for school!

Today we got to meet teachers! I forgot to get a pic of Seth but he has the same teacher so-oh well!
Tan the man with Mrs. Gray! I almost did a cartwheel when I saw he got her! The Primary school has been good to us but specifically Tanner-he’s had all fantastic (the best) teachers!

All 5 kids converge on Colts class. We’re excited about Mrs Melvin too!

Sis loved the bubbles Seth got from school! (And why not blow bubbles on the mini…we’re the Ison’s)

It got dark on us but we played a little family football in the yard tonight too, while Isaac was on the phone. I hope in a coming day  they remember things like that about growing up here—I mean why else would I let Tanner rush me (I did finally teach him to “count alligators” and he was good to not plow me ) while I hold Addi and try to play quarterback? Seth had a couple great runs too while me (Addi in arms) and Cann blocked for him…he just runs in the wrong direction most of the time. 🀣🀣

Holy Cow it’s Friday!
And I’m ornery-but to protect the innocent I won’t explain why…I just hate certain things-that are other people choices and none of my business-but I still hate’m.
Guess I better blog instead of rant😏
Since Grandma was here Saturday Isaac and I snuck out on a little motorcycle ride-putt’s around the gravel roads was just my speed and seeing the ravages of the flood was quite impressive!! We got 7-9 inches in just a few hours the night before—it was nuts! Our basement had water but we just swept it to the (not low spot) drains
Got us a cornfield picture!

Oh and we had to drive through the water in one place-it totally reminded me of traversing the river in that cruddy old Daewoo I had on our way to lake Powell when we were dating!
After we got home we headed over to the neighbors for a birthday party (a 1/2 hour late but we beat every one else there by a 1/2 hour????) …Tyler said “That was the most redneck birthday party I’ve ever been to” I laughed and thought-me too!
The cooler was packed-with capri suns a few other “kid sodas” but mostly with Corona! Everyone except us and one other couple was drinking (like fish) It was something!
But the kids played out in the yard away from it and enjoyed these bumpers and the jump house! Until Tan didn’t. Ouch!
We got them out of there because it was time to go play capture the flag with the Neff’s!! Only Cann Colt and Tyler went but they had A BLAST! and that is really an understatement
Brittany sent me a pic of one rounds winners.

It was pretty late before they came home, but waiting up for them I told Isaac I didn’t know what we were gonna have for dinner Sunday and asked if should I run to the store and grab something yummy??? He said no. So Sunday we walked into church, and we had new Missionaries, Elders, and he invited them to dinner! It was fine-we pulled it off, but just classic us!πŸ˜‚
Sunday we also subbed in Sunbeams and tried to make it fun by having under the table be “prison” and Paul testify to King Agrippa…I tried a few other antics-like acting out a shipwreck and snake bite-that would have probably been better suited for older kids but whatever—we had fun!
We got out on a walk that evening-our mission was to get Tyler a cornfield pic. And we got our second one in two days.

Monday morning Tyler and Grandma headed out…but we didn’t want to get bored πŸ˜‰ so we invited friends over. Check out the totem pole!

Seth and I both had dentist appointments. We got a couple new tires, checked on Pres Vorkink’s boat trailer-he’s done with the boat and offered to give it to us…not sure if we’re going to go for it. I know Isaac would like a nicer boat but…maybe until we have a good place to park it this would be fun…not sure.
Anyway I text my friend Cassie a bit and Isaac went over and fixed their driveway while we got to visit—that was so dang good for me!! I’m not even kidding-soul deep-it was just good to talk to my friend. We took everyone the kids played and ran wild and had a blast. Win win

I love it when the kids play outside together!

Then this πŸ‘‡πŸ» I had to take an picture of just so I’d remember—Tan likes to send airplanes with messages. This one said  “Can you make me my tost” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

And even Cann tuckers out sometimes!

Today we had friends over to slip’n slide again

Addster even tried it out—and loved it.

And it was kinda hot so…I went down a couple times too! It’s dang fun. I’ve been struggling a little bit with sore feet πŸ‘ŽπŸ» so I didn’t think it would be very smart to run around barefoot a whole lot. But a couple quick rounds to cool off were perfect!

This girl’s  a mess…and she loves going with daddy!!

I’m sure there’s more—or at very least plenty of editing to do but…it’s late and I’m tired—sounds about like every single time I blog. Oh well! It is what it is!
