Merry Christmas!

It’s the last post of the year! And I can  finally talk about the other blog! I’ll get there!
But first last Saturday
We went to the wedding of a couple in our ward then the baptism of the husband was after. Isaac gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. The kids considered it present #1 we didn’t make them go πŸ˜‰
After I delivered a few ministering gifts and then just hoped I was ready!
Sunday was Christmas Eve and we combined with the first ward and it was early! And the kids were singing and Isaac was giving a couple extra people a ride annnd he invited a student -“Upendra” and we had him over for lunch afterward. It was really fascinating! He’s a great kid-from Napal and Hindu. I have lots of friends that don’t share all my same beliefs but pretty much everyone I know believe in Jesus! It was cool to talk to him though. We had a Christmas meal and sent him down the zip line.
Oh and Pres Doman set Isaac apart as a member of high council, and Upendra (I have know idea how to spell his name) came with us to that too. Might as well give him the full experience right? It was pretty cool though because I think he will have Isaac’s class next semester but he hasn’t actually had him in class yet, but he did take a class from Pres Doman that his wife told me he hadn’t taught in years! Maybe it’s not a coincidence! Maybe we’re just planting seeds and someday Upendra will strengthen the Lords work in Napal!
Anyway Isaac took him home and Addi and I had a nap! That little girl was so sick—she looked absolutely miserable at church 😒 poor thing!
That evening back home my mom’s Christmas Eve dinner festivities were going on! Uncle Klint played Santa for a fun little service project and then dinner, and then Uncle Ky called. It was time to FaceTime. Grampa and Grampa were opening their gift!

Every year it goes like this: my brothers call or text “you got any ideas for mom and dad?” Nobody ever does. So last year  we started writing down memories from or childhood!
It might have been more of an undertaking than we thought!
One topic per month and we put it on a blog

It ended up being a nightmare getting it printed-I wanted to conplain about here so bad…but I refrained and after lots of communication with the company I always use (I print my blog off every year) we pulled it off (apparently you couldn’t have emojis in the post titles-that was what gave us the error over and over but it took quite a bit to figure that out, so I deleted EVERY emoji I’d put in any of the posts and realized how much I type with those things! Too much!)
Anyway…
We pretty much hit it out of the park in the gift dept. I told them next year we’re going back to crud they don’t need and don’t want πŸ˜‚ —true!
It was so good though I wish I had the gumption to do it, initiate it, with Isaac’s family, but…I’m just an in-law…and maybe my efforts would be better spent trying to learn to communicate with him better…πŸ€ͺ but maybe if I’d work with his siblings I’d understand him better…who knows
Anyway, I wish that had been the end of our Christmas Eve “excitement” and we’d driven around looking at lights (hey that didn’t even make my Christmas memories post) but it wasn’t!
About 9:00 we were sitting on the couch about ready to do Come Follow me, when Seth went running out-stomping running freaking out I knew he was hurt but I didn’t know what happened. So he comes over with a little blood on his teeth and I send him for a drink to wash it out. He dutifully goes but then spits the whole mouthful of (bloody) water on the floor and screams “it stings”
And by now there’s tons of blood in his mouth! So I hand him a rag to spit the blood in and grab a towel for the floor. Isaac looks in his mouth and there’s a big freak’n whole in the back of his throat! He’d had a toy arrow in  his mouth and he tripped and it scrapped a spot then poked a hole in the back of his throat. Ug!

Isaac was like “we gotta go-we gotta get that stitched up.” He starts thinking of church friends we can ask opinions of—because we really didn’t want to go to the ER at 9:00 Christmas Eve, if we didn’t need to— but if we needed to…then should we really be going to Columbia to the ER there instead??? Probably!  It was really stressful! We got the best pic we could and Isaac still thinking of church friend Drs I’m like Matt is HIS Dr I’m texting him. And Isaac ended up thinking of and texting our cousin Ryan who is an ENT. We just asked if they thought we needed to go.
I’m not sure who got back to us first but Matt said “honestly I can’t see enough to say” but he was really sweet to check on him Christmas Day! Ryan called Isaac back and they talked and talked…if we went it wasn’t going to be quick stitches, they’d have to put him out to do it. Ug.
By time they got off the phone I thought the bleeding had slowed significantly, I’d got him to swallow a couple times and he was acting more and more normal. (Still very snuggly) then talking normal and sliding back into the excitement of Christmas Eve.
So—in true Ison fashion we decided he’d be fine…we’d just tough it out.
And truthfully I felt pretty good about it!
Until the next morning, when he wouldn’t even swallow his own spit, my little sugar ant told me he tasted the candy in his stocking but had to spit it out. I was terrified-we screwed up! But I think he’d just had swelling from the night that freaked him out. Slowly -when reminded I got him to swallow, then he started nibbling on candy and then a drink of milk and by that afternoon he told me he was normal and could eat anything —as long as he liked it— he just had a hole in his mouth too.  So we think he’s fine, but it was a pretty good scare and hopefully we learned a lesson!
We eventually got to CFM (kid designed nativity) look at these wise men!

So back to that Christmas morning!!
I think we had a good one!

Tuesday we were going to head for Utah but…after fighting through pretty much all of December trying to cough up a lung I decided maybe I should admit I was sick try to get medicine and some rest. After texting Matt Christmas Eve I was determined to just call Tuesday morning and be a “normal” patient…but the clinic was closed. So I had to either be sick without medicine or suck it up and text my friend. (Isaac thought I should’ve texted Cassie Christmas Eve but I was like no, Matt’s his Dr and I have his number too so I’m texting him.) anyway I text Cassie Tuesday, they called me in an antibiotic I took the first two and slept all day!
I think Isaac took the kids down to church to fly their drones and play kickball and such.
Wednesday we decided I had medicine on board—we better just go for it!
We rolled into Huntington about 6:15 Thursday morning! We listened to Nike founder Phil Knight’s biography coming across, it held our attention but I might like Nike a little less now. 🀷‍♀️ anyway We had great roads πŸ™πŸ» thankfully (actually that did help us that we delayed a day too) we had one stop in the middle of the night where Seth was like “I need to puke!” We threw on the lights and scrambled for a puke bag then he said “no I need to poop” I was like “next exit no matter what!” We stopped and he said “I don’t need to anymore” but I’m not going for it cuz I was like 3-5 minutes ago we were in disaster mode and now you’re fine? I don’t believe it, try! Anyway all of this is going on and Tanner says “I have a way runny nose-it feels like water!” I look back and he has a way bloody nose-it was everywhere!!! Ug but we survived it. Disaster(s) averted and we were back on the good roads. πŸ‘πŸ»
Once at Grandmas the kids cashed in on screens and cousin time with Shawn’s girls, and general good spoiling by grandma!! They went on one little adventure but I was down for my second (much needed) nap. I think they were walking around the lake or something, looking for eagles? Maybe?

Oh and Shawn and Lauren got Bengal Cats. Cannon was crazy allergic (great news oh I mean… sorry buddy) Addi loved them, I  told Isaac great, if I die buy her a cat, but if I’m around no way. He was like “oh if you decide you want to sell us one…” and I cut him off and said  “Isaac will be looking for a new wife!”
Seriously they would dart into the room we slept in much to the delight of every one except me! Pretty sure the not good way my heart jumped when it briefly touched my leg running by took at least 3 years off my life. Ug I’m just not an animal person!
Anyway after breakfast we packed up and headed south, (we’ll see the Ison crew again next weekend)

Isaac, ever the favorite son in law put in a new disposal for my parents.

Sis needs to get her elbow up but…they’re having fun.

And tonight me Chip Isaac Cannon and Addi went up to Snow Canyon high school to watch the girls and Grama and Grampa’s neighbor play! Holy cow-the good times. First I found and gave Coach Kittrell a big hug, I loved hearing his voice still announcing! Then I heard “L dot-is that you?!” My friend and teammate Darci was in town from GERMANY watching her neice play! We chatted the whole first half —she still knows everyone! At halftime I got up to walked over and say hi to Dani who’s daughter plays and looks just like her! On my way I found Brooke! (Who I used to get to see once in a while but not since the redid the boundaries of my moms ward) but we walked over together, Dani called Jocey and said “where are you?” But she was sick 😒 but seriously it was a big high school family reunion we laughed and laughed and asked questions and tried to catch up, it was so dang fun! Dani’s sister Kaeli was there too-in town from New Mexico, Kim-used to be Hatch was there watching her daughter dance. But We just had a great time. Oh get this, two of the official totally used to do our games! It’s been 25 years!!! But it was just fun. Darci’s husband snagged a picture of us from clear across the gym —all of us busting up—I should have had him send it to me, it should be on here, but we were too busy catching up I didn’t even think of pics, thats weird huh? Oh well what a fun night—such good friends and good memories.
Presumably Chip Isaac and Cannon had fun too🀞🏻I dunno I was lost in my own world of memory lane!

Pretty slow week.
Saturday  coaching basketball totally sucked! I always tell Tanner I don’t care if we win or not (I think if you care about winning too much at this age you end up with Tanners old team-no thanks) but in the game…I want to win! Holy cow…we didn’t! And…what can I say that I won’t regret…or that I would say to a person’s face???? How bout this-some teammates make us stronger-some make us weaker!
We had the weaker crowd Saturday. Yikes.
Whatever they’re in 2nd grade.
Anyway—
Oh Saturday we also went over to Ray and Char’s 45 wedding anniversary celebration. It was good to meet their daughter, fun to visit, and of course the kids loved the cat.
You can’t even tell it’s there but Addi would touch it then run laughing.

Addi and I came home for a nap but the boys stayed and shot bow and arrows and now everyone’s hooked. They had fun. We are thankful for good neighbors!
Sunday:
Look at her, she’s pretty proud of herself trading in those boots for her tennis shoes…😏

I’ve had a cruddy cough for 2 weeks now and I didn’t feel real great so I mostly laid low—the next most exciting pics on my phone (besides the 800 pictures of nothing I delete from when Addi or Seth have my phone) is our planned attire for family pics with Isaac’s whole family. So…not that exciting and I still can make my mind on some of that… we’ll see.
It’s been pretty good weather, we’re thankful for that! These guys wanted to roast hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner last night.

They had fun (we only had 2 minor burns—not sure I got the full story on either one)
It was only 2 more batches of Smokey laundry (that’s nothing in my laundry world)
But I’ll tell ya what—having to clean the clay off of shoes might keep me from doing it again. What a mess!!
Today Isaac worked in the temple, I took the kids brother gift shopping 2 at a time. I think it was supposed to be fun in theory but…yikes! Maybe that I made them clean up around here first put everyone (or particularly Cannon vs me) in a bad mood. Who knows, if I remember today there will probably be no brother gift exchange next year…
Maybe I’m the grinch…
Or maybe they just fight too much.
Yeah that!

Tanners big week!

It’s been a busy week for Tan the Man!
First of all Saturday we waited all day until it was time for his basketball games (oh and we went to a primary friends baptism first) but it was pretty fun coaching him. We didn’t win the first game but Tan played awesome. I thought we had a chance— with 5 out of 6 guys that had never played before…I was happy with a fighting chance.
Tan and I just hung out in between games even though it was kindof a long break it ended up super fun because after we snagged him a donut from the concession stand we just went to the main gym where there were actually seats and we found his school teacher! She’s awesome! We love Mrs Gray!!  So I  had a great time visiting with her, she’s actually from over there in Brashear where we were playing. Her son plays but we didn’t watch him they were just waiting between games too.
The 2nd game we played 1st and 2nd graders from KV. One of their guys played on my soccer team-I told him I had an extra jersey but he wouldn’t switch πŸ˜‰ and Tanners old coach was also on their bench with his younger son who is actually a kindergartener (so basically like Tanner 2 years ago) the game got started and we were getting beat up and down the floor, then they got a bucket, I watched us get beat up and down the floor about 2 more times before I called timeout (ya only get 1 per half,  we were only 3-4 minutes in of the running clock)  I didn’t care, and I didn’t care that these were my church friends kids—I chewed butt! But the good news is they responded and we took it to them the rest of the way. We scored 18 unanswered! I think 16 before I looked up and kinda called the dogs off. I burned my 2nd half timeout with more than half of the half left to try to get my 2 guys that hadn’t scored a bucket (oh my 🀯 I’ll go about that differently next time. Next time I’ll say “stand here! Catch the ball when we throw it to you, turn and shoot” ) as it was…they got lots of shots off…and neither one could get it to drop.
We gave up a couple transitions baskets, I hate that, but good for that other team for still playing hard when we kinda had it on cruise control.
At the end I had to keep either Tanner or Terron on the bench with me. It was pretty funny but if I tell all the stories I’ll never finish blogging. Terron didn’t know what ornery meant though-hilarious- and when he begged to go in I said will you only dribble with your left hand? He looked at me like I was crazy and said “no” so I said sorry you still have to sit by me then.
Anyway the best part was Tan had fun.
Yes! Finally! That is why I was willing to coach again!
Oh I had a couple sibling take pics on my phone…I dunno I guess I thought they’d take pics of my kid—and their brothers. But I only got this and one other one of Tan. 🀦‍♀️ they’re 10, what did I expect?!

Let’s see on to Sunday.
I had to teach, I’d been reading/listening to the talks for weeks so I went with the “dews of mt Carmel” approach mentioned in one of them and hoped I was prepared enough.
I think it turned out ok.
My biggest regret of Sunday was I got a nap but I “didn’t want to sleep too long” so I set an alarm. I’ve had a cough ever since and what I just thought was a “coaching headache” (cuz it’d been a while since I’ve yelled that much) has hung around all week. Totally should’ve napped hard and long Sunday. Live and learn! Maybe I’ll get a nap this next Sunday 🀞🏻if so I won’t make the same mistake!

Let’s see-on to Monday, Cannon’s last basketball game and thank heaven. Good riddance. What a waste of time! At least I took pics pre-game

There were PLENTY of chances to buy him and a few other guys a few seconds of playing time but as it was he never got off the bench. He loves it but I think basketball is more of a social thing for him. I know missing when we went to Utah didn’t help him…but I drug 4 others kids to that game (Isaac had a work party) no thanks! It’s middle school, you’re up like 10-2 at the end of the first quarter and I bet the clock stopped 4 or 5 times in the last minute of that quarter. No bench play. Or similar at the end of the half, there were free throws or something but 10 point lead clock stopped with about 12 second, I’m thinking: come on let him play, nope but his starters gave up an uncontested 3, I think the bench guys would have at least tried!
So it’s 5 days later—and I’m still mad.
Next!

I don’t remember much of Tuesday except that morning Tann had practice for the music program before school, Isaac had taken him the Thursday before and he was late-so I didn’t care that I had to wake Seth and Addi up, I took him myself!! The teacher hadn’t checked with Isaac about helping him with his lines and being to those things before she cast him as Santa Clause-she’d checked with me!!

But that night Tanner woke me up telling me is stomach hurt then puked. But—he went right back to bed and slept all night so I was just thinking can I pretend that didn’t just happen? But he woke up the next morning moaning that his stomach hurt-wouldn’t eat anything-and wanting to shower.
I had to keep him home.
Holy cow stressful!
You have to have Santa!
So I messaged the school (required) his regular teacher and the music teacher then kept him home to sleep and prayed real hard! He missed the big dress rehearsal but he did sleep all that afternoon and woke up just wishing he could have gone to school. Thank heaven!
Thursday was his big program and he crushed it!!!!
The first performance he wore the beard but I sat in the exact wrong spot to film him, I knew where to sit round 2, but he ditched the beard but I don’t know if it was to try and help the sound be more clear or because he was so hot!
He did great both times though!

He’s quite the little actor! Who knew?
And I tried so hard to get video but one of my soccer players moms told me the live streamed the Veterans Day program so I had my mom jump on and check and she totally got to watch it! Yay! So I didn’t need to worry about videos but I tried so here’s what me, iMovie, and YouTube figured out…

And today was no stress compared! But somehow Sis got more of a nap yesterday than today????  (trip to town to take Seth to school was between the two trips to town to watch Tanners performances) yikes.
Basketball practice tonight.
Then a mtg at the church, then home with no dinner plan-yikes, hot dogs! Feed them hot dogs—cuz we’re not vegan 😏🀣
Bout it

Saturday we got Rizzy’s tree up and I don’t know how that nativity’s faired in the wind and rain but it was sure cute when I set it up!

Tanner was working downstairs with Isaac and they found an old can of spray paint well, they tried and tried to get it to work they clean the nozzle, and who knows what else, but they decided there was no aerosol left in it, so Isaac let Tanner pound on it, I don’t know if it was with a rock or a hammer or what. But it turned out that it did have some aerosol left in it and Tanner, Addi, and Seth all got splattered with blue paint. We had a little project with the fingernail polish remover before church Saturday night and more final touches Sunday to make them presentable. Classic us.
Seth wanted his missionary tag—then Sis wanted one too…ok!

It’s a reindeer!

Dad went and got my new mower!

And thanks to Grama. We have an abundance of packages around here already. She let the kids shop on Amazon and sent her ideas and then she just picked what she sent them. I think it’s a tossup who had more fun! But I also know it’s in a couple of those big giant boxes they would fit in like a 3 inch box so I hope we’re not set up for disappointment Christmas morning when there’s been this huge box under the tree, and there’s a little tiny thing in it. Oh well they’re having fun, stacking re- stacking them over and over and over!

It was a moment of weakness, when cold asked to make slime, and I said yes! They had a blast though that’s gotta be a win of some kind!

Oh, and I just noticed they’re all in their red shirts. Well, that was on purpose. In the neighboring town LaPlata, the elementary school caught on fire or something crazy like that! So our schools were all wearing LaPlata school colors and collecting donations for them.
We have awesome children leaders look how cute! And he came home with a present, all wrapped up, addressed to Jesus!

Look at that girl! Shoot it up Addster!

Seth’s face in the background isn’t too bad either.

Addi always lights the world with her smile! So since I’m the T-shirt lady, I made her a light the world shirt to encourage everybody else to follow suit! And she wore it to Cann’s game.

My favorite part of Cannons game was how excited Tanner got both times Cannon scored! And good old Colt, it true uncle Klint fashion:

Addi always does this funny thing right now where she will hold my hand, but she’ll scrape my fingernail with hers. It’s so weird, I haven’t figured out why, but I kinda love it…really I just lover her little hand holding mine.
Basketball was horrible today! Why do I do this to myself? And I looked at the schedule and they have us scheduled to play Tanners old team. No thanks, he’s upset about it…I’m upset about it,  they’re supposed to move up to the 10 foot rims and play in the other gym because  they’re all third graders and I kept my team second graders for a reason—the reason is I didn’t wanna play them, and lose by 80! So I emailed the guy and asked him to reschedule us but who knows what will happen??? It’s not tomorrow it’s the next weekend.  Oh and I had six guys for tomorrow until the one dad text me today and told me they’re out of town, gee thanks for the notice, that kids pretty much out of it when he is there anyway so whatever! I just had another friend from Primary come, he is a third grader but I thought if they’re gonna play third graders anyways then I’m not going to care.
I think I’m back to why do I do this to myself??
I don’t know!
I thinks that’s it Addi had a rough night last night so today I am so tired!

Merry —early— Christmas to me!!!

It’s Friday again already! I feel like this week went by quick.

Now about that title… Anybody who reads my blog probably knows that Isaac is not much of a gift giver, he’s really kind of terrible…except when he’s good, then he’s really good!! And I admit, it took a little getting used to when we were first married, but now it’s kind of the best situation because I do whatever I want in a normal celebrate kind of way, like if I want something I buy it and tell him it’s my Christmas or a birthday or that type of thing, but then when he does his really good thing— it’s total bonus for me!! Sweet…but you have to keep reading tell We’d/Thurs for the whole story.

Saturday I snapped family pics for the cute Davis family! We love them and it’s extra fun that they are Seth’s primary teachers right now. Sweet Nan went from Relief Society president to Sunbeam teacher. That’s a good move!!
Aaaannd I don’t know anything else…cuz those are the only pics on my phone.
Sunday we woke up to snowπŸ‘ŽπŸ»
I thought this cute red Christmas dress with a snowy background would be so cute! …she wasn’t amused!

But I did at least get everyone with a smile—ish…hers is pretty fake!

We’ve had a few painting projects around here this week? Cannon wants our tree to look nice…I reminded him when he was younger he liked painting ornaments too.

It’s been a bit of a crazy animal week at our house, one day the horse was out, one day I looked out the kitchen window and saw the small hawk, the guinea hen and turkey (isn’t that white turkey kinda crazy…) but anyway those two birds are our neighbor Ray’s, it was the first time I’d seen them in our yard but Isaac says they come hang out occasionally. All of them made my camera roll…

Kirksville is the worst in someways. We  play all the little tiny schools around us and we just kill them, well then Tuesday we played Hannibal —which is a town our same size (But they play surrounding schools that are a lot bigger than them like Quincy and into the St. Louis outskirts) and they get better! We lost by 50. It was awful! Good news for Cannon. He’s on the up by 40 OR down by 40 squad so he got to play… It was so bad though!

Nutcrackers this time…

My little Mozarts

And here’s the story. Isaac’s brother is getting rid of his car and wondered if we wanted it. We hummed and ha’d,  it’s WAY nicer than the van, same year, way less miles, buuut, we finally decided it just wasn’t us. But if I had wanted it Isaac would have went for it in a flat hot second…but anyway (this was Wednesday) I said “too bad your brother doesn’t have a fancy lawn mower he’s getting rid of, then we’d totally be interested!” And the very next day he bought me this beast!

I am so excited! (Not even joking) he feels like he did pretty good on it so he’s happy about it, I’m so excited that it won’t be held together on a lick and a promise! He didn’t think we needed one…he’s crazy! Actually I  didn’t even mow much last summer but that old mower is just tired (he says he’s still going to keep it running…ok -great- whatever) but there ya have it…my early Christmas present and I’m pumped.
The snow has melted, I told him if it gets up to 50 degrees I want to go over to the cemetery on a little mower dateπŸ˜‚ it’s the little things!

Tonight we went to Ward potluck kicking off the light the World campaign. Oh, and Tanner had basketball today, Sometimes that’s OK and sometimes I wonder what I got myself into but I did give them their uniforms today so that was a highlight!

Bout it.

Oh except this girl is RELENTLESS!!! She always wants to be read to! It’s exhausting—good thing I have good helpers!

Oh and a giant crane at Tanners school…that was pretty cool
