But first last Saturday
We went to the wedding of a couple in our ward then the baptism of the husband was after. Isaac gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. The kids considered it present #1 we didn’t make them go π
After I delivered a few ministering gifts and then just hoped I was ready!
Sunday was Christmas Eve and we combined with the first ward and it was early! And the kids were singing and Isaac was giving a couple extra people a ride annnd he invited a student -“Upendra” and we had him over for lunch afterward. It was really fascinating! He’s a great kid-from Napal and Hindu. I have lots of friends that don’t share all my same beliefs but pretty much everyone I know believe in Jesus! It was cool to talk to him though. We had a Christmas meal and sent him down the zip line.
Oh and Pres Doman set Isaac apart as a member of high council, and Upendra (I have know idea how to spell his name) came with us to that too. Might as well give him the full experience right? It was pretty cool though because I think he will have Isaac’s class next semester but he hasn’t actually had him in class yet, but he did take a class from Pres Doman that his wife told me he hadn’t taught in years! Maybe it’s not a coincidence! Maybe we’re just planting seeds and someday Upendra will strengthen the Lords work in Napal!
Anyway Isaac took him home and Addi and I had a nap! That little girl was so sick—she looked absolutely miserable at church π’ poor thing!
That evening back home my mom’s Christmas Eve dinner festivities were going on! Uncle Klint played Santa for a fun little service project and then dinner, and then Uncle Ky called. It was time to FaceTime. Grampa and Grampa were opening their gift!
Every year it goes like this: my brothers call or text “you got any ideas for mom and dad?” Nobody ever does. So last year we started writing down memories from or childhood!
It might have been more of an undertaking than we thought!
One topic per month and we put it on a blog
It ended up being a nightmare getting it printed-I wanted to conplain about here so bad…but I refrained and after lots of communication with the company I always use (I print my blog off every year) we pulled it off (apparently you couldn’t have emojis in the post titles-that was what gave us the error over and over but it took quite a bit to figure that out, so I deleted EVERY emoji I’d put in any of the posts and realized how much I type with those things! Too much!)
Anyway…
We pretty much hit it out of the park in the gift dept. I told them next year we’re going back to crud they don’t need and don’t want π —true!
It was so good though I wish I had the gumption to do it, initiate it, with Isaac’s family, but…I’m just an in-law…and maybe my efforts would be better spent trying to learn to communicate with him better…π€ͺ but maybe if I’d work with his siblings I’d understand him better…who knows
Anyway, I wish that had been the end of our Christmas Eve “excitement” and we’d driven around looking at lights (hey that didn’t even make my Christmas memories post) but it wasn’t!
About 9:00 we were sitting on the couch about ready to do Come Follow me, when Seth went running out-stomping running freaking out I knew he was hurt but I didn’t know what happened. So he comes over with a little blood on his teeth and I send him for a drink to wash it out. He dutifully goes but then spits the whole mouthful of (bloody) water on the floor and screams “it stings”
And by now there’s tons of blood in his mouth! So I hand him a rag to spit the blood in and grab a towel for the floor. Isaac looks in his mouth and there’s a big freak’n whole in the back of his throat! He’d had a toy arrow in his mouth and he tripped and it scrapped a spot then poked a hole in the back of his throat. Ug!
Isaac was like “we gotta go-we gotta get that stitched up.” He starts thinking of church friends we can ask opinions of—because we really didn’t want to go to the ER at 9:00 Christmas Eve, if we didn’t need to— but if we needed to…then should we really be going to Columbia to the ER there instead??? Probably! It was really stressful! We got the best pic we could and Isaac still thinking of church friend Drs I’m like Matt is HIS Dr I’m texting him. And Isaac ended up thinking of and texting our cousin Ryan who is an ENT. We just asked if they thought we needed to go.
I’m not sure who got back to us first but Matt said “honestly I can’t see enough to say” but he was really sweet to check on him Christmas Day! Ryan called Isaac back and they talked and talked…if we went it wasn’t going to be quick stitches, they’d have to put him out to do it. Ug.
By time they got off the phone I thought the bleeding had slowed significantly, I’d got him to swallow a couple times and he was acting more and more normal. (Still very snuggly) then talking normal and sliding back into the excitement of Christmas Eve.
So—in true Ison fashion we decided he’d be fine…we’d just tough it out.
And truthfully I felt pretty good about it!
Until the next morning, when he wouldn’t even swallow his own spit, my little sugar ant told me he tasted the candy in his stocking but had to spit it out. I was terrified-we screwed up! But I think he’d just had swelling from the night that freaked him out. Slowly -when reminded I got him to swallow, then he started nibbling on candy and then a drink of milk and by that afternoon he told me he was normal and could eat anything —as long as he liked it— he just had a hole in his mouth too. So we think he’s fine, but it was a pretty good scare and hopefully we learned a lesson!
We eventually got to CFM (kid designed nativity) look at these wise men!
So back to that Christmas morning!!
I think we had a good one!
Tuesday we were going to head for Utah but…after fighting through pretty much all of December trying to cough up a lung I decided maybe I should admit I was sick try to get medicine and some rest. After texting Matt Christmas Eve I was determined to just call Tuesday morning and be a “normal” patient…but the clinic was closed. So I had to either be sick without medicine or suck it up and text my friend. (Isaac thought I should’ve texted Cassie Christmas Eve but I was like no, Matt’s his Dr and I have his number too so I’m texting him.) anyway I text Cassie Tuesday, they called me in an antibiotic I took the first two and slept all day!
I think Isaac took the kids down to church to fly their drones and play kickball and such.
Wednesday we decided I had medicine on board—we better just go for it!
We rolled into Huntington about 6:15 Thursday morning! We listened to Nike founder Phil Knight’s biography coming across, it held our attention but I might like Nike a little less now. π€·♀️ anyway We had great roads ππ» thankfully (actually that did help us that we delayed a day too) we had one stop in the middle of the night where Seth was like “I need to puke!” We threw on the lights and scrambled for a puke bag then he said “no I need to poop” I was like “next exit no matter what!” We stopped and he said “I don’t need to anymore” but I’m not going for it cuz I was like 3-5 minutes ago we were in disaster mode and now you’re fine? I don’t believe it, try! Anyway all of this is going on and Tanner says “I have a way runny nose-it feels like water!” I look back and he has a way bloody nose-it was everywhere!!! Ug but we survived it. Disaster(s) averted and we were back on the good roads. ππ»
Once at Grandmas the kids cashed in on screens and cousin time with Shawn’s girls, and general good spoiling by grandma!! They went on one little adventure but I was down for my second (much needed) nap. I think they were walking around the lake or something, looking for eagles? Maybe?
Oh and Shawn and Lauren got Bengal Cats. Cannon was crazy allergic (great news oh I mean… sorry buddy) Addi loved them, I told Isaac great, if I die buy her a cat, but if I’m around no way. He was like “oh if you decide you want to sell us one…” and I cut him off and said “Isaac will be looking for a new wife!”
Seriously they would dart into the room we slept in much to the delight of every one except me! Pretty sure the not good way my heart jumped when it briefly touched my leg running by took at least 3 years off my life. Ug I’m just not an animal person!

Isaac, ever the favorite son in law put in a new disposal for my parents.

Sis needs to get her elbow up but…they’re having fun.

And tonight me Chip Isaac Cannon and Addi went up to Snow Canyon high school to watch the girls and Grama and Grampa’s neighbor play! Holy cow-the good times. First I found and gave Coach Kittrell a big hug, I loved hearing his voice still announcing! Then I heard “L dot-is that you?!” My friend and teammate Darci was in town from GERMANY watching her neice play! We chatted the whole first half —she still knows everyone! At halftime I got up to walked over and say hi to Dani who’s daughter plays and looks just like her! On my way I found Brooke! (Who I used to get to see once in a while but not since the redid the boundaries of my moms ward) but we walked over together, Dani called Jocey and said “where are you?” But she was sick π’ but seriously it was a big high school family reunion we laughed and laughed and asked questions and tried to catch up, it was so dang fun! Dani’s sister Kaeli was there too-in town from New Mexico, Kim-used to be Hatch was there watching her daughter dance. But We just had a great time. Oh get this, two of the official totally used to do our games! It’s been 25 years!!! But it was just fun. Darci’s husband snagged a picture of us from clear across the gym —all of us busting up—I should have had him send it to me, it should be on here, but we were too busy catching up I didn’t even think of pics, thats weird huh? Oh well what a fun night—such good friends and good memories.
Anyway after breakfast we packed up and headed south, (we’ll see the Ison crew again next weekend)

Presumably Chip Isaac and Cannon had fun tooπ€π»I dunno I was lost in my own world of memory lane!
