Let’s see! It’s December!

Saturday was Truman’s graduation and Isaac had to go. All I know I did was go to the grocery store. Pretty exciting life. If we did something more exciting than that I didn’t take pictures. Oh I guess Cann had basketball which I only remember because he lost his practice jersey in the car.  But again-not very exciting.

Sunday Isaac had helper to check on the horses! I  know one thing about last weekend-it was COLD.

She found the Santa jams!

Monday we got the horses some hay. Addi went with Isaac to get it then I took her to school and I got to help him unload it. 😬 we got it done.

Monday Cann played basketball at Clark County. We didn’t go but he said he played well and hit a couple 3’s and had 8 points or something like that. I should’ve gone. Because here, they played a board game (Risk) I don’t play board games with Isaac,  because I’d rather not hate him. He plays with our nephews and I don’t really care what he says or does but when it’s our kids. “I warned ya…it’s the beginning of the end for you now.” then they come to me in tears, it just doesn’t go over real well. 😡 If I way I was furious and his approach to “teaching” then it would be an understatement. I will admit that I didn’t handle it real well either—I should’ve just left because that boiling getting more and more mad—I can’t say with 100% accuracy that never goes well! We’re learning. Sometimes I don’t know if we’re getting better or worse but we’ll keep trying. And when I die you can read my other journal for the details. Ha.

Addi found a crescent wrench that was Tanners, she wanted it because it was red. I said he’ll probably let you have it if you’re nice to him. (She’s kinda mean to Tan, he’ll try to do something nice and she’ll just say “no, I only line my Sethy boy.” Stinker. But in hopes of claiming the red wrench she piled right up on his lap. Ha!

Seth made me a snow man at school.
Grama hooked these guys up with some fun after school snacks.

Coloring & lifting sibling weights.

We ended up feeding the missionaries Thursday and they brought Johnny with them too, so that was good. Our good friend Bro Speaks was having surgery that day so I just messaged Sis Speaks and said hey let me do that because she had signed up who knows how long ago. Buuuut I learned my kids don’t always love having them over 😩 which I’m kinda sad about. There reasons: some they admit to some I deduced
-I make them clean up
-they feel obligated to not complain about dinner
-I talk to the missionaries too much and make their message take too long
-we have them over “every day”…🙄
I’m not sure what to think of this…(sigh)

Today It’s been one of those busy Dec days! I had cut out and cooked over a hundred sugar cookies before 9:00 this morning. Then we had to frost them. We let Colt stay home from school since they were just going to watch the movie we watched as a family the other day. So I had an helper—actually he really was starting to get a little run down so the extra sleep from sleeping in was really good for him. Cann didn’t have seminary so he kindof got to sleep in. Anyway, we did the cookie thing and made Chex mix and delivered goodies to friends. I was probably only willing to do that was we had a predetermined dinner plan.
(They keep seeing advertisements for this on TV)

I liked the plan…the pizza-eh.
Then tonight we went caroling again at another care center. I didn’t think to take a picture. This one was a lot more like I remember care centers being…my heart aches for those patients. Colt was not a fan of the smell, but I was happy he and Tan would come with us (there was a tablet time bribe involved-of course but who cares?)
The other pics from today-Tan’s primary teachers brought him a book.
Oh I guess That’s the other thing from this week, for their children and youth activities they had had people donate stuff and then the kids  could pick out presents for their family members. I think Colt and Tanner had a fun time with that! Of course they didn’t wait till Christmas. They opened them. We have new stuffed animals 😬 they got me a cookbook, Addi had  a bath with a bath bomb. They had all kinds of fun.

Anytime I see something like this I love to snag a pic! Even if the one below it is way more common. 😉

I think that’s it….

I like to spend my Friday nights blogging… But tonight I spent the evening making a cat house. OK that’s not entirely true. I bought a cat house and all I had to do was put it together. It would’ve taken three minutes except for we decided to insulate it —really it all started when Cannon was bust’n my chops about not letting the cats in the house last time it was super cold. I said I was fine with them inside (downstairs only) if he, or anyone, wanted to commit to doing a litter box. Ug gross. And I had no takers. But anyway I thought we could make them a house, then I got smart and realized I could  just buy one— easier— so I did! Since the whole point was to help keep them warm we decided to do the insulation thing— it was kind of my project! Isaac is the project person at our house, not me, but he was running on the treadmill (when I started it took way longer than his exercise did) and I was cutting out insulation… Little bit of a role reversal.

But I survived. I mean,  it was messy,  it’s not perfect! But with a little coaxing, they’re in there!

Or at least they were when I left AND  when I came home from getting Cannon at basketball. I wasn’t quick enough to get a pic with both heads peaking out but—I’m calling it a win.

Anyways, back to the normal start with Saturday blogging routine. I’m pretty far behind as far as getting started. 😬 could be a late night or a weak blog post…keep reading to see which 😂.

The week started out with getting up Saturday morning and going to Zootopia 2,  it was something we signed up for through Truman. The kids enjoyed it, it was cute and fun I guess, I don’t know I’m not much of a movie person and truthfully it was a little overstimulating for me, but the kids liked it. I’m not sure about getting up and chasing people out the door to go to a movie, but, we did! Cannon had Basketball halfway through but then it got canceled so he did get to watch the whole thing he just spent a lot of the movie texting trying to figure out if he really had practice or not. It was a little bit of a mess.

Saturday evening we had the Ward Christmas party! Which was catered by our favorite Mexican restaurant again 😋 We loved it. I snagged a pic with Sis Wilson first thing!

Good thing we did too because she transferred out Wednesday! We had her and her companion Sister Ritchie over for dinner the other day and I confessed I could never remember their names but I didn’t care because they just glowed, I knew we had good missionaries and I felt fine about remembering the light in their countenances even if I couldn’t remember their names. Anyway we got chatting and I was talking about how I’ve lived here longer than they have had drivers licenses but I still just don’t drive in snow. I hate it. I’m a St George girl! So then sister Wilson asked me what part of St. George and I said Santa Clara and she said oh my grandparents live there, so I asked her if they lived there for a long time and she said yes and anyway it turns out I totally know who her grandparents are, they are in my parents ward. That was just kind of a crazy connection. Plus all of a sudden I could remember her name too. Ha. Bonus.

Back to the ward party though Cannon did end up going to basketball that night. It was just an optional little shoot around but I went to pick him up from that and when we got back to the ward shin dig Seth and Tanner weren’t really around, I didn’t  worry about it, and there’s kids running everywhere and I think they can fend for themselves, but they were gone because they’ve been recruited to be in the nativity little program they did. It was pretty cute.

On to Sunday—Addi in her red dress red coat red tights and red boots with a red bow. This girl likes her red!

Actually, the boys all had Christmas ties on Sunday too. They looked so cute,  I’m mean handsome. I don’t know why but  I can’t talk these people into a family picture. It’s been like two years, well, I guess we tried last Christmas but it’s been almost 2 years since we had one that I liked… oh well.  I guess you win some you lose some. I’m winning at the blog and losing and family pics.

There was a fair amount of wrestling Sunday afternoon

And we did  watch the Christmas devotional or at least most of it.

Monday Cannon had a basketball game and he had forgot his water bottle so I took it, I handed it to him and  he said “I can’t move.”  He had done something to his back. I didn’t know what but he was definitely moving like he was hurting and so I went to text Isaac that Cann might not even get to play and I looked up and he was starting… That was weird, but I was excited for him and I ended up not texting Isaac because I got caught up and watching him play. (I think starting might’ve been a little reward for actually going to the Saturday practice) and he played a lot the first half. He usually doesn’t play enough to have to worry about foul trouble, but he did get two fouls in the first quarter and so then he sat for a little bit, but he still played more in the second quarter but then he sat all through halftime and then he sat the entire third quarter. Well, when they put him back in in the fourth quarter they shouldn’t have —he couldn’t move at all!

Seth goes to the games to hang out with Mrs Feeney  (I have a pic but it’s only the backs of their heads) Addi  goes just because she wants to do everything Seth does. But they were playing out in the cafeteria and she kept bumping her head-poor kid.

Anyway Cann’s team ended up winning in overtime. 👍🏻 sometimes I hate watching, the former coach in me just gets annoyed when they don’t do things right. But After the game I came home and Isaac stayed in town and worked and then picked Cannon up after the JV game. Cann came in the house and he said “ hey mom, we maxed out on power cleans, and weights today, Do you think that could be how I hurt my back?”

yeah I do, and he wasn’t wearing a weight belt. 👎🏻

So he was pretty gimpy. I’m a little annoyed, call it sympathy pain or who knows what but I’ve tweaked my back too—but not very fun. At least it does make me way more sympathetic to Cannons moaning.

Anyway he lucked out that they had a day off on Tuesday and by Wednesday he still wasn’t moving very good, but he just went to practice and let his coach know and his coach just said “do what you can” but it loosened  up and he was fine.

Then Thursday Isaac took Cann to seminary and then went to get donuts because he was going to get them for one of his classes and Cann asked him if he would get some for seminary too- so he did. But by about 6:45. Cann called me and he was sick. So I picked him up when I took the other kids in and he came home and slept ALL DAY. Dead asleep for 6 hours. By about 6 at night he was feeling acting normal but not normal—so much better than normal! He was a different kid! Such a nice older brother!  Maybe he should sleep through school more often!!!

He read stories to Addi and played with Tanner, he (I think accidentally) even told me it what an awesome experience FSY was.

Can this Cannon please stick around 🙏🏻

I think that’s most of it.  Except for some Add fun. I wouldn’t go jump on the tramp with her (it’s dang cold) so we tried jump rope in the house instead.

Out little sheep project today (not done-just like the angels still not done)  but a mess of good fun!
And the Christmas list she made at school. I keep reminding her Santa just brings something he thinks she’ll like. 😳🤞🏻

We have been reading a bunch of Christmas stories this week too —those are always fun.

Well…Not a short post—I tried some talk to text and I actually think that makes my inability to be concise worse. 😬 whoops

Until next week…

First Snow!

You’d think the week after I order a 390 page blog book (give or take a few pages)  I’d slow down on picture taking…but it was the first snow so…I took picture like I’d never seen the stuff before 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s just what I do.

Saturday was good fun snow (probably the wettest we’ve ever had here)

These guys LOVED topping our play off with a snow cone!
Our friends built a 17 foot snowman that ended up on the news and stuff:
Before the snow we’d talked about putting our nativity scene at their house so more people could enjoy it —I did love it at the cemetery last year but I also like mixing it up. Anyway they’ve had a lot of people stopping by so we did take it and down along with our #lighttheworld sign. 👍🏻 no pic but if I get the upgrades I’m working on done (an angel and I ordered a light) I’ll get a pic!😉
Anyway Sunday they canceled church but authorized the sacrament in our homes. The kids wondered if they had to dress up, I said “At least a shirt and tie.” After which there was zero chance of Addi putting on a dress…this is what her and Isaac settled on:
I had to walk away and have him deal with here-she was completely unreasonable.
There was definitely some Sunday snow play-we’re calling it quality family time.

I was determined to #lighttheworld by the kids singing at the old folks home! So we called one friend from primary who I thought would really enjoy it and …well I just felt really strongly to invite her. So we did and she was game and we headed to the place. When we were driving by the church we saw the Gonda family out shoveling the sidewalks. I was so glad we went at that time. Isaac had us drop him off, he borrowed Bro Gondas keys and showed him where the snow blower was. We recruited two of the boys to come sing with us and one didn’t want to come so he stayed and helped Isaac with the snow blower.
The kids were AWESOME singing and brightening days!
They brightened my day for sure! Not too long ago Isaac and I listened to an old (maybe 2012ish)  Christmas Day message Elder Bednar gave at the MTC about the character of Christ, he talked about looking outward and serving others instead of just doing whatever we want but this little trip to the old folks home just reminded me of that. It was not a first choice activity for Colt or Tan but they did it-and they made a difference! It was great!
(Ugh I just screwed this up! I was through Tuesday and I couldn’t get the pic I wanted to load and I refreshed -thinking I was refreshing Google photo not my post and it just took me back-Dangit…now your going to get the watered down here’s the pics version. 😏)
Monday more snow-early out, no school for Add
We played and skied after we got our
 brothers back.

Addi’s not sold on skiing yet but she’s getting better.
Monday evening we figured out tubing off the snow pile and on to driveway, it was a blast and we were set for a good time Tuesday when they canceled school.
It was a fun day!
Wednesday the were back at school. 👍🏻 when our brothers went to children and youth we started working on the angel for our nativity set. My plan was let them help but then get it done when Addi is at school but… I haven’t gotten any further.
Thurs the temp dropped and it was Cold Cold Cold—feels like -2 when I took Cann to seminary, but Colt and I had a service project planned. And we took hot chocolate to his 4th grade teacher and the other lady who always helps with parent pick up! I HATE pickup but I don’t hate the teachers that have to do it-I feel bad for them. So we tried to lessen the drudgery, with sugar.
Hanging out with dad by the fire in the dungeon (basement)
Today they didn’t have school because it was a professional development day. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized if they didn’t have school and Isaac didn’t have school and Cannon didn’t have basketball it was the perfect day to go the temple! So we did. There were varying degrees of enthusiasm but I really do think it’s important and the best way we could use our time, so we did!

And we got back early but didn’t really have anything we had to do so we laid pretty low and it was nice. Addi was sharing some socks with her doll. 😊 she’s going to be a good little mom someday. She does this cute thing right now where if I say anything about Grama she says “Your Mom?!?!!!” Yep-Grama’s my mom. Grandma Ison is dad’s mom.

I sure hope BYU wins tomorrow but stumbled on to this fantastic video. (Along with a hilarious one about Pres Oak’s wife kicking him when BYU didn’t win a bowl game years ago 🤣)
They’ll be just fine if they don’t win-they’ve got their heads on straight!

Bout it…well it’s late so done or not, I’m done! 👍🏻
