‘22 Summer Utah trip 2.0

Oh I’m too tired to tell all the stories…and it’s probably for the best. I wish oh we were driving and Isaac saw that his motorcycle had tipped and a tie down had broken was the extent of our disasterous adventures…not-even-close. Ug! 

But I’ll get there and if I don’t start there maybe I’ll spare ya some details. 

So back to Saturday: We kinda wrapped up the Ison family fun week. We hummed and ha’d about staying one extra night (poor Lauren and Shawn I don’t know how they put up with us!) but when I finally heard back from my mom that Aunt Laur was on her way I was instantly in frantic pack up and get gone mode-took over 2 hours but we hit the ride headed South! 

I falling asleep just doing the picture dump so —here goes nuthin.

Shad and Kennedy-definitely the cool cousins-solidified that with some fireworks! The kids loved them and I wish the pic of Sethy telling them which one to do next wasn’t blurry.



 Awe man the headband mom? 

It was so so so fun good to see my Aunts!! I spam them with the blog most weeks but my goodness it was good to see them in real life-it had been WAAAY too long. Thanks to them for making it happen! And we got to meet Bennet my cousin Jordan’s son-he’s a cutie! I should’ve made sure Aunt Jayne was looking whoops but look at her grin-she’s not miserable! 

And we were just visiting but one time she said “are ya  kidd’n me me?” And I thought I heard myself!!! It was just weird because it’s been so many years but yeah that exactly what I would say in exactly that time of voice-it made me smile. She’s been married for 30+ years I’ve been an Ison for 12 but we are both definitely Frei’s 🤣

Oh and Isaac got some good morning motorcycle rides in and he visited with Uncle Coy one day but he’s usually happier when he has some kind of project. 

Oh our of order but the girls loved Addis headband! Oh Ky & Kami we’re out of town so the boys -and Addi- cashed in on lots of cousin time. Elsie  drew the cutest little sketch of Addie when she had this headband on -she is quite an artist!  I should’ve snagged a picture of it to put on the blog but I didn’t oh well

Had to snag a pic of Aunt Laur with my troops before she took off. 

And we were grateful for Grama’s neighbors pool to beat the heat a little. 


Tanner was quite the belly flop man (above) -ouch- and the big kids had a blast jumping off this rock I’m surprised I only have a pic of Ann doing the donut target jump-Cannon was awesome at it.

Stink’n Patch gets so stink’n jealous if Addi is on Grampa’s lap! 

Wednesday we headed for Huntington and we left Cannon: and Tanner to hang out with grandma and grandpa for a couple days-they got spoiled (not surprising) and went up to Shoal Creek and were great helpers



We took off for Huntington but we ended up in Tooele …but it was a good thing Isaac fixed whatever was wrong with a Pump Truck in less than five minutes so it was way better than taking it to a shop or whatever Sethy made me take this picture of the pump truck I had actually never seen the green one

When we rerouted the plan was he was gonna work on the truck and I was going to go shopping. The quick fix was good news but it vetoed my shopping trip -bummer- and we ended up heading for Huntington after all and got in about 1:30 or so. 

Tanner and Alaina accidentally had twin shirts but I had actually looked for something for Sadie and Addi-we get tons of hand me downs from Sadie and I love them so I know I like Lauren’s tastes, I thought I was going to be easy. But I had no luck! So I settled on having Walmart ship one Addi already had. So yesterday morning I got Addi dressed and Lauren was just putting Sadie’s on when Addi pooped all over her outfit. Guess we know what she thought of my little twinner picture idea. 😏 Must be her dad’s girl. 

Thwarted. 

But don’t worry I will try again! 
And then this. 

It’s our version of normal. 🤯

I think he started telling me we “were basically ready to go” starting at about 8:10 when we got up. 

Time. 

We struggle with time! 

After calling around and checking around he finally sent me to Price in Shawn’s car to buy a new trailer tire. He didn’t want it on the rim but it was the only option so I got it-then I was just getting in the car and he called back and told me the bolt pattern was different than he thought. So I went back and returned it and got the right one. Then I was driving back (barely leaving Price) and he called again. He asked where I was then said “never mind” I got him to tell me why he called and he said “oh I was just wondering if we really wanted to go with the smaller size ones-were not going to be that heavy” but we stuck with what we had and he did the bearing and got the tire on we were basically ready to go. Then he went and got air. Basically ready to go-then he ran to the bank. Basically ready to go-he just had to jump in the shower. Then eat lunch. We hit the road around 2, 3:00 Missouri time. 

After all of that we still end up like this 4 1/2 hours into our drive. 

That brand new tire was smoking because the axel he should’ve replaced last trip had broke. He thought not all the way through (the guy who ended up helping us thought it was all the way through.)

He robbed straps from the little motorcycle and dog carrier-and lashed a piece of angle iron that had been meant to hold a spare tire on then 

Cdot came. That guy was nice told us we could get off at a rest stop even though it said closed and followed us there. We were right at a tunnel. So we get to the rest stop and he feels good about what he’s rigged up but would feel better if he could weld that angle iron on. Then he has the idea to see if there’s a member in the next town  with a welder he can borrow. So he looks up the bishop and sends a text and a few minutes later gets a call from the nicest life saver guy ever named mike who owns a welding shop! The built a new axel, redid the other bearing and…we were on our way (about 5 hours after it started smoking) yikes—no way was Mike going to let him just rig it up. Thank you Mike. 

And we drove through the night and made it home around 4. 

And these cute guys are right behind us! (Grama and Grampa are coming for Addi’s blessing) 

But they are delayed behind an accident 😩 so those smiles might have faded by now. 

Sethy wants to wave at them as they drive up the drive way! 
Oh and the only other thing I can think of his our new little buddy Asa is here and he was born on Riz’s 1/2 birthday! My friend Michaila always sends me a happy  whatever month birthday text for Riz. It’s so sweet. In May when she sent a “happy 16 months to Riz in Heaven” knowing she was due one of the first days in august I thought “oh I hope she has her baby -who we didn’t know was a boy but Sethy was sure and we all kinda leaned that way-on the 28th” just cuz she remembers all the 28ths for me. Anyway-it happened! For her it was 34 hours of labor 😳 for me it was a cool tender mercy from Heavenly Father-just a reminder that he remembers EVERYTHING too 😊

Ison family fun week!!

Oh boy—it’s family fun week so buckle up! 

Actually it’s Friday of family fun week so I have kids on the brink of exhaustion and…I’m never going to win any patient mom awards so—that’s a little bit of a disaster. But currently Tanner is napping. Totally necessary. Totally forced. But yikes-things should get better. 

Anyway we survived travel (top pics) for smiles (bottom pics) and I’ll probably have to do lots of collages cuz I have a gajillion pics and otherwise at the end of the year when I go to print the blog out I will have to do two books (possibly going to happen anyway-blame Addi-) but two books for one year is just annoying! 

But we made it to Huntington then up to Madi’s farewell -and shin dig after, on Sunday! 

I was super glad we went in person it was great to see everyone and Madi is going to be a great missionary. 

Then it was back to Huntington  and Sabrina’s family got there that night so we’ve been ultra spoiled with babysitters! Pretty sure it’s been a win for everyone! 

Then it was cousin time! 

Including Barbie’s 😳 



More screen time than you can even shake a stick at —Ug! But oh well. 

And favorite uncle Brent…Cannon was pumped he got to shoot his guns! They actually went to a super fun shooting range! It was like an old west town set up-it looked fun and Cannon was SOLD! 


Lauren and Shawn have done a ton of work on Grandmas house- and the brothers cleaned out, and divided up Grandpas hobby shop. I asked Isaac if he would limit himself to one tote…I got a firm “No!” It’s ok we have the trailer and I wouldn’t want to be limited either. 

What else? 

There’s so many pictures on my phone and I haven’t done a good job on the day to day stuff because like motorcycles- we’ve rode motorcycles several of the days  (Isaac went on two big long -all day- rides with Brent Nathan and Ethan) but I only wanted to put them on in one spot. But the dirt bikes are one of our favorite Huntington activities. Aunt Sabrina hooked Cannon up with some riding pants so now he’s been bugging me for boots-I’ll probably give in because A: they are safer-they saved my foot once! He probably should have some And B: pretty sure we’ll be able to pass them down! 

But Colt and Tan are riding awesome too. Tanner particularly loves it (and thankfully he’s actually in control as opposed to 2 years ago!) but it’s on his goal board at home and he’s crushing his motorcycle goals! 😊

Seth wants to go any time Isaac will take him-we probably need to get him pedaling a bike so he can try the 50! And I even rode a little—mostly because I love Isaac😉

 It was really the first time I’ve been back on since I wrecked Sabrina’s bike in Idaho! But I did okay (really I rode nervous like Colt 🤦🏼‍♀️) until we went to “top of town” the sewer ponds are just more my speed and style! 

Today Isaacs cousin Steven took us out on the lake (we missed Allison because she was at girls camp-I really love her though!) It was a blast, but we couldn’t talk Tanner or Seth into anything. 

Colt and Cannon both surfed with Isaac then wanted to try it on their own.  (I might have bribed them—I was trying for Tanner and they were eager participants if they got the same reward, they informed me we agreed on a new game for their tablets-I didn’t remember but ok whatever) 

Steve’s boat had shade but sister still hid in the life jacket beneath her sun hat oh and I had to try it too…I just felt like I couldn’t encourage my boys to try it and think it’s lame when they won’t if I won’t. It was pretty fun but I am not young OR athletic anymore. Darn. 

Once everyone was done surfing they busted out the tubes and Colt had a blast!! No pics though because I had already given up and come home with hungry Addi,  whiny -thus the nap- Tanner, and Cannon. But Colt had so much fun and I heard Cannon asking him about it when they brushed their teeth. 

Annnd little Ison touch-we have to document the disasters too right? Jesse wanted Isaac to test drive this car…that didn’t go so well. 

And I screened what I thought was a spam call from a Boise Idaho number. Whoops-it was Eric and not his fault at all but they’d high centered the side by side. The top left pic is then walking home-but Sabrina actually did find her phone and saw the missed calls and it’s not far but the didn’t have to walk all the way home! The uncles rescued them. 


Yes-just happens more than normal at theses deals. They ask me if they can turn on the tv I say yes they ask Aunt Sabrina if they can have Whipped cream straight from the can-yes! One squirt each! 

This girl puts up with all kinds of things…but look bottom right-she’s still smiling! 

And Aunt Lauren let these kids help make breakfast. I’m not quite as nice 😉

I don’t know what else—Isaac took Seth and Addi and went up the Canyon one night but 4 1/2 hours later I was a nervous wreck by time they got back he said “oh I thought you’d be grateful.”
