We had a really fun week! We picked Grandma Ison up from the train station Saturday morning.
And we started our Grama fun by taking her to the Mecca of Mennonite stores, Dutchman’s! So that was fun.
If you’re Isaac, what do you do when your mom comes to town… That’s right you keep working on your projects. ๐ฌ well gee-welcome Grandma ๐
But he’d bought a new controller (or something) for his knuckleboom and it got here from Poland Friday (along with some $3000 chocolates ๐คฃ๐คฎ just kidding but it was nice of them to throw them in, they were disgusting) anyway he was excited about it.
That night we went and watched the fireworks with some friends, and that was fun, Cannon went to a friend’s house. The other kids had a blast lighting up a few small Fireworks and Grandma was just having so much fun watching them, she went and bought them more! The perks of having grandma in town!

Cannon had been doing a ton of things with his friends last week but when Luke invited him over he wanted to go again and Isaac was awesome about being like “no you better check with your mom because she thinks you’ve been gone a ton lately” so Cannon did check with me and he really needs to just figure out that when you’re kind and respectful (which he totally was) it goes a long way with me!! And he gets more of what he wants…so anyway he went to Luke’s house and I went and picked him up after our firework fun. I asked if he wanted to drive home which he did… So he could make sure and try to find another firework shop that was open. It was 1130. I didn’t think there was any chance, but he proved me wrong and I confess, after watching the kids have so much fun with the few that I had bought and the few more that grandma had bought I bought a couple more too.
So they shot fireworks off Sunday night too.
(And Sunday we went on a little walk)
Monday I took Cannon to the eye doctor and finally heard back from Amtrak so I was going to buy Colton and Tanner a ticket to ride back with Grandma But they only had one available seat so since Colton was older, (his last year of being 1/2 price) he got it! I’m excited for him to have someone one-on-one time with grandma Ison and then with my parents too. Tan would’ve gone but really didn’t seem too sad to miss out either so… I guess I picked the right kid for the one seat! Having Colt go and some of the things going on at church kind of changed our travel plans for later this summer, but that’s OK. We only make plans to change them. I’m still adjusting to that but I think it’s mostly true. We’ll just go out a little sooner to pick him up!
Monday night we went to the lake! Isaac was sure his mom could surf, but I told her she did not have to try if she did not want to. He’s so good at talking people into things that sometimes I just think they need to know it’s OK to tell him no but she loved watching the kids do stuff and taking pictures. It’s just what us moms do.
Cann watching me ski—Addi and I watching Cann jump!
Tuesday we headed for Nauvoo! Cannon had weights in the morning so we left after that, I was so excited to see the new visitor center. It was awesome and Grandma was more than happy to tend while we were in the temple, but she didn’t get to go to the temple, which I was kind of sad about, she was not sad though cause she’s always in the temple working or being a patron at Manti but still I just thought it would’ve been a more fun Nauvoo trip if we would’ve planned and scheduled better but it’s really only open for half a day right now. I don’t know if that’s because the pageants going on or what but oh well. Isaac and I got to go do sealings and the boys a baptisms—it was a great day to be in the house of the Lord!
Ice cream at the creamery after the temple is always a good idea!
Wednesday we did nothing! Absolutely nothing! Isaac had accounting meetings for work and we just weren’t very ambitious, but also no stress. I feel like Isaac‘s mom is genuinely happy just doing whatever, being here, around the grandkids. She and I get along great, we can just chitchat and visit and I don’t know in some ways. I think she and I are quite a bit alike, good job Isaac, marrying someone like your mom -ha- but she’s a great example to us so we’re just thankful she came!!! —even if we’re not very good entertainment.

Then Thursday, we tried to make up for it. not really but because Isaac’s plan for Wednesday was he was going to get the horses shod (well the one that’s so tenderfoot anyway and then go for a horseback ride with his mom, but that didn’t work out Until Wednesday evening, so Thursday morning, he saddled up the horses and somehow (so I could take pics) He even talked to me into going on a little ride with him, but then I had to be back to be able to go get Cannon from weights so they brought me back
I have so many pictures on my phone and then I got all Grandma’s from her too and we’re both pretty picture happy but I think the one of she and I are riding is on Isaac’s phone so maybe I’ll get it from him later —maybe—
They went for a little bit more of a ride after I took off. And after the horseback riding, we grabbed some breakfast and then we headed back to the lake —We never go in the daytime so maybe we forget how sunburned you get, Poor Grandms got toasted, but I don’t know, Maybe it’ll be tanned up by time I post this blog ๐ค๐ป
Everybody had pretty red faces, and I just never even worry about things where we go in the evening. Cannon loved being there in the day though —oh and both the trips where we went with Grandma I actually got to ski!! -just a little bit both times— it’s taking me a little bit to remember I didn’t exactly pop right up ๐ฌ It took three times the first day and two times the second day, but at least I got up! The water is typically a little nicer in the evenings for skiing too๐ And both trips with Grandma Seth has done so awesome surfing! He even started to pull in on the rope Thursday!!! And not to be outdone Add got up on her knees (puppy surfing they call it) on her own too!

But I felt like we just shoved a ton of fun into the time we had Thursday that we came home got showered up, packed up, Colt and Grandma some train food and Isaac ran them up to the train station when they got about a half hour away I was thinking about how excited I was for Colton to get to go to Jacob‘s homecoming thing and I realized we forgot to pack church clothes. ๐คฆ๐ป♀️ I had time to jump in the car and run them to him, but I didn’t want them to like have to wait for me. I didn’t want them to be nervous cause that would’ve put it pretty close to when the train was supposed to be there. (It wasn’t, it was late, but still) And I didn’t wanna have to drive the whole way up there cause it’s about an hour and 20 minutes away and so I just kind of panicked and then ordered a couple things off Amazon and they should’ve got to Levi and Stacy’s by today, so I text her and said “sorry stuff coming to your house I hope it fits” and she said “No worries and we have neighbors and he can borrow whatever he needs.” ๐๐ป
So whoops but it should all work out fine!
Grandmas been awesome about keeping me updated! In fact they should be getting pretty close now…
Today Cannon’s been helping Isaac with concrete forms (I know he finally sold the concrete forms and now he’s got some other he’s borrowing… And might buy) But they’re messing with that then they ran to Moberly to pick up his golf clubs that he bought off Facebook marketplace because when he was hanging out at Luke’s, he decided he needs to take up golf…Who knows!
And younger kids and I have been playing board games (cooperative ones ONLY) ha
