SEVEN YEARS OLD!
Oh we've had a busy week! Saturday I had meetings in Nauvoo but all I wanted to do was get one room painted. Well the meetings went about 2 hours longer than I thought so I didn't get back until 4, and Isaac had to be to something at 6:30 but I was determined so we still headed out and started to paint. Frustrated we didn't get very far when he got home that night (Kids were in bed) I told him I wanted to go back out, and he said "We can both go." So we hired a babysitter and had ourselves a little paint date. It was fun. And we made a little progress too.
Then Sunday I had to snap a quick picture of Teagan doling out treats. ha, my boys LOVE Teag--and he loves to help me walk them out to the car so its actually a pretty great.
And Thursday Cannon told me while I was making his lunch that he wanted me to come eat lunch with him for his birthday (because I did last year -be careful what you start I guess right?) Anyway I figured we could pull it off so we went for it. We had to go yesterday because there was no school today-lucky kid, random day off school for your birthday! While it sounded good in the morning Cannon was actually pretty disenchanted with us being there. He really just wanted to sit with his friends. Luckily Lucas' dad came that day to, so he slid over and was happy and all the while I was wondering "Why am I here????" oh well. He also told me at 7:00 that morning that he wanted to give his classmates something for his birthday, he wanted to make them t-shirts. I started to say no and that he needed to give me more notice but then I realized...eh, we can pull it off and its 20 shirts I already have and won't have to move. Sure. Happy Birthday, he helped me and we had 10 of them down before he even went down to the bus stop. I finished the rest and took them with me when we went to eat lunch with him.
BUT I tried to remember what its like to be a kid and anticipate your birthday.
And hair will grow back.
And instead of making another cake we went for cheesecake. Which he didn't even eat he was too in the zone of putting things together, but whatever, we'll have desert for when the missionaries come for dinner tomorrow.
But that afternoon he was game. When he's cooperative, he's a lot of fun.
We went for a walk that night. Its kinda skipped spring and turned to summer on is, but its SO GOOD to see the sun, we'll take it!
Oh and I almost forgot about this. Isaac...was dead meat! This was Saturday when we slipped out to paint before his dinner thing in the evening. Well the boys were a handful and he decided he would keep them out of my hair. Well its about time to go and he comes in and cheerfully asks if he'd done a good job. I said yes and then we walked out. NO! No no no! He created a bunch more work for me and taking pictures might be the only thing that kept me from killing him. He'd had the boys all out in that nasty swamp of a swimming pool (drained so covered in all the green nastiness slime that was left) If I would have realized the water was on and we had a hose I would have took it too them--and probably him too. As was strip them down was about all I could do. And I'm still learning how to shoot in manual, so Tanner's overexposed, and you really can't see the black in his eyebrows in either picture that is actually dark green slime--but it was there, I promise. So gross. And scrubbing them off at home in the tub was no picnic either. Sure honey-go enjoy your award banquet. (Actually I went to that with him last year and it was painfully boring so it wasn't like I wanted to be there, I just didn't want to be scrubbing green swampy slime off little boys either.)
And a few more off my cards just because I've been taking more lately...mostly of Tanner-he's my most cooperative subject at this point.
Until next week...
